Forever and for Always

Friends, Romans, Countrymen, Lend Me Your Ears: 'You are cordially invited to the wedding of Rose Tyler and Fred...'

Rose wasn't worried over the flowers; her mum had ordered in the best she could find. She wasn't worried about losing the rings; her dad had those with him now. She wasn't worried about the guests or her bridesmaids or anything like that.

Actually, she was worried about not having anything to worry over. Which Donna - or this world's version of her, which was a little quieter and taller - had told her over and over was ridiculous.

But really, couldn't she at least lose an shoe or something?

Meanwhile, Fred was playing with the cuff links of the suit he'd been all but forced into. Turns out, he's not too good at waiting. Well, he was allowed to be impatient! He was getting married in...ten minutes. Give or take; Donna had gotten most of the Time Sense from the metacrisis. But really, ten minutes felt like eternity at the moment, and the only thing keeping him from running to find Rose now was that Jackie was standing a few feet away and had said if he tried to get to Rose before the wedding she'd slap him into next week.

Which he had the odd feeling she'd be able to do.

So he stood, pacing, then sat down, then stood back up, then walked over to read the little leaflets pinned up on the board, then went back to his seat, then was dragged by Jackie to his spot by the alter as the music started. A few seconds later, the doors opened and he saw Rose. Immediately, his mind went off in two separate directions. One was stating firmly that "saw Rose" wasn't even close to the right term there; change it to "saw the beauty that was his Rose" at the very least. The other was still stuck there, staring.

Rose smiled almost shyly at him, and the overly-romantic portion of his brain was sighing about how between the white dress and the way the light was hitting her she seemed to glow. What little Time Sense he had - along with half a dozen of his other senses - switched off, and she could have been walking down the aisle for five years for all he knew.

Tony giggled near his elbow, and Fred looked away from his seconds-to-be wife long enough to shoot him a look. And stick his tongue out.

The guests found it funny, though Jackie had rolled her eyes and put a hand to her forehead.

In the little time it had taken to make the dozen or so people watching them laugh, Rose had come to stand right in front of him. Which would be the reason it was suddenly so hard for him to breathe. Her grin turned cheeky as she watched his reaction.

The music stopped as the minister started speaking.
