Chapter Six – The Aftermath
Reason Number 8 – You’ll regret it… most of it…
Or Reasons Why A CSI should get drunk, Reason 1 – You’ll find the one
Back at the CSI HQ the next day
Sara stumbled in with the worst headache imaginable and aching eyes. As she walked into the breakroom, she noticed that the others weren’t faring too much better, especially Grissom, who was sitting in the corner with his head in his hands, ignoring the crossword puzzle in his hand.
“Hi guys” she mumbled, and received a very similar response back. “That bad, huh? Didn’t realise we’d drunk so much”
“I know, hell, I didn’t think I’d even bought that much” Catherine replied
“I can’t believe some of the things we did” Grissom stated, shocked
“I don’t think I remember them all…” Warrick said
“Well, no one could forget yours in a while, eh?” Sara teased
“I… uh… yeah. Whatever. And yours? What did you call that, Greg?”
“Something like… really hot. Or sexy. Don’t remember a lot, to be perfectly honest”
“Of course you don’t Greg. Do you know how much you had to drink? The pile of bottles where you were sitting was sky high!” Catherine moaned.
“Yeah, man, it took us all day to clear up, and we’re not completely finished now” Warrick added
“Like you two lovebirds were just clearing up for the whole day” Greg teased
“Speaking of which, don’t you have a meeting with your new lover, Greggo?” Nick snickered
“Oh, no… I’d forgotten about that… oh no” Greg was chanting, rocking back and forth on his knees.
“Better go... unless you want to really be in trouble” Nick snorted, to which Greg sighed heavily and reluctantly got up.
“Wish me luck?” Greg turned back to the group, pure terror displayed on his face
“Good luck” The group mumbled back to him
---- In Ecklie’s Office ----
“Come in” Ecklie said as he heard a knocking at the door “What do you want?”
“Err... Ecklie. It’s me?” Greg said hesitantly
“Ah, Greg Sanders. I need to talk to you about... what happened last night”
“I can explain that, sir”
“It doesn’t need explaining”
“But I was completely dr-“
“Sanders, I know what you said, and to be perfectly honest, I’ve thought of you as more than an employee for a long time now. A love like ours can’t be denied” Ecklie began to walk around the desk to approach Greg “and don’t say you didn’t mean it... I know you’re childish but that’s fine... I’ve always wanted someone I can dominate really. Greg, just don’t tell me you don’t feel the same, I heard you last night”
Greg stood there, completely shocked. “Ecklie, sir, I... can’t do this... I was drunk last nig-“
“Don’t say it Sanders” and Ecklie began to lean in to Greg’s face. Greg saw what was coming and backed up to the door.
“ECKLIE. I did not mean ANYTHING last night. I was drunk...don’t even remember exactly what I said, and if you don’t leave me alone in the next two seconds, I’m going to personally make sure everyone in this damned lab knows about you and your dirty little secret!”
“You always have been my undoing” Ecklie said, refusing to give up on his Greggo. Greg then suddenly ran down the hall, shouting about his traumatic experience as he went. Ecklie followed close behind. As Greg reached the break room, he slammed the glass door shut, and Ecklie, not seeing it, proceeded to run straight through it. He collapsed on the floor with shards of broken glass all around (and in) him. An ambulance was called immediately and he was wheeled away, to the relief of Greg.
“That was disgusting” he said, when he finally recovered from his experience.
“What happened?” Catherine asked, desperate for some gossip. Greg then relayed all the details of his experience to her. “Wow.” Was the only thing she could think to say after he finished. “I will make sure half of Las Vegas knows this by this time tomorrow, and hopefully he’ll be shamed enough to never dare to try to come back” she said, devising malicious schemes in her head.
“Good idea, honey. Want any help? I can hit the casinos... there’s a lot of guys who know him there”
“Great. I’ll start with Sam and the judge, and work my way down”
“And I’ll do the lab where he works...because you seem to have forgotten about them...” Greg added.
---- Later that day ----
“Finished” Catherine sighed as she came into the breakroom and flopped herself on her boyfriend’s lap. “That was too hard” she said, pouting at him. Warrick picked up on this and kissed her pouting lips chastely, not wanting to be too obvious to the lab rats until Catherine decided she was fine with making their relationship public. He was quite content to sit there now with her curled up on his lap with the blinds drawn.
Sara and Grissom, meanwhile, were in his office, blatantly making out on his sofa. They had gone into his office to talk about where their relationship was headed since the events of last night, and this is where it had led them.
Nick and Greg, however, were having a manly heart-to-heart in the locker room. They were both feeling a bit left out with the other parts of their team all loved-up. Not that they would ever get with each other, in a million years, but they both needed someone.
“I don’t know... it’s just, I just want to have the stability. You know? I just want to be happy” Nick said
“Yeah, I agree... but something Ecklie said made me realise that I’m really immature, and I want to prove that I can be grown up. Any ideas who you’re gonna go for?”
“I’m thinking Mandy, because she loves it when I sing to her, and she makes me feel really happy. She makes me laugh, and she’s definitely not too full on. I like her; I think she’d be perfect for me. And she told me I was sexy... my accent anyway. And she’s hot. You?”
“I don’t know... I think I want to date someone here, so they understand the hours? But... that leaves me with Wendy. And a few others that aren’t particularly special. Or I could go for Mandy as well”
“Don’t get your hopes up with Wendy, mate, and stay well away from Mandy or it’s bye-bye little Greg” Nick warned
“Why?” Greg seemed shocked and in pain. “Don’t think I can get Wendy, want her for yourself? You’re so...”
“She’s been in love with Hodges since she got here. God knows why, but she is. And I think he may be starting to realise it himself. So... no chance.”
“Great. Destined to be lonely” Greg sighed in defeat
“There is always one more option”
“Who Nick?”
“Sofia?”
“Oh my goodness. Why didn’t I think of her? She’s perfect. Blonde, funny, hot, and there’s always been a little flirting between us! This is perfect! I could kiss you, Nick!”
“Once is quite enough, but it’s the sentiment that counts. No problem. I actually think you’d make a god couple, you know...”
“Come on then, let’s go and meet our future loves!” Greg jumped up with a new found excitement.
