AN: Hello again, my darlings! It's Luna and welcome to Realms, I Love You! Naturally, this was inspired by the wonderful collection of short films, Paris, Je t'aime! I thought it was wonderful how the films were so versatile and I thought it would be a great idea to write a similar collection of various love stories involving the GD characters, but I don't intend on just romantic love. No, there are different kinds of love, such as the love shared between family and friends and I really want to express that. I was actually close to calling it Spence, I Love You! but then that wouldn't be global enough. Anyhow, please enjoy!
Children
Once upon a time, there were two children…
In the magical land of India, where the sun is hot and the jungle is vast, a little English girl with red hair was playing in the jungle, pretending to be a knight from the fairy tales her mother always told her. As her mother and father watched, they couldn’t help but smile at how brave their daughter was for slaying a dragon to save the princes at only the age of six.
On the side of his brother, watching her with a smile on his face was a little Indian boy. It was not just the smile of admiration, for the boy had admired the girl and wished he could play with her, but also fascination, particularly out of her red hair. He’d never seen a girl with red hair before. He’d been told that people of other countries looked different, lighter skin shades. Sometimes they had black hair, sometimes white, but he’d never been told that someone could have red hair. Her mother had red hair too, but it wasn’t as bright as the girl’s hair. As the boy stroked the tiger next to him, he heard the tiger purr and nod in agreement.
“Yes, Aruna,” the boy said to his old friend. “She is pretty.”
The boy continued to watch the girl over and over and each day she seemed to grow prettier and prettier. He had wished, though, that his brother would let him stay a little longer, but then again, his brother was only there to watch the girl’s mother and it was not for the same reason.
One day, the girl was playing the same game of make-believe and Aruna had decided to take a walk into the garden. The boy tried to stop her, but the tiger just walked on and stopped before the girl. The girl’s parents and their Indian housekeeper were in a panic, but the girl showed no fear. She even bowed down before her. The boy had never admired her more and felt his heart skip a beat when she looked up to see him.
The boy ran to hide, but it was no use. The girl had found her anyway and when she did, she smiled at him. He smiled back.
“Hello,” she said.
“Hello,” he responded with a shy smile.
“What’s your name?”
“Kartik.”
The girl smiled at Kartik and asked him “Do you want to play?”
“Alright,” Little Kartik smiled.
For ages, it seemed, little Kartik and little Gemma ran through the jungle and slayed dragons at each other’s side and somehow, she had never before seen any dragon so afraid of anyone than when she held her new friend's hand.
