The Final Serenge

“Ugh, I feel like a turtle,” groaned the redhead. He was lounging on the bed, stretched out as far as he could, trying to will a breeze to come through the open window, but outside was as still and dry and hot as the inside. The others in the house had already called a repair man to fix the broken air conditioner, but he’d yet to arrive. The older man turned his head towards the younger male from where he was sitting and raised a thin brow.

“Aren’t you like a rabbit, though?”

Lavi rolled his head slowly to Tyki with a bland look on his face. “I’m meaning that I feel sluggish and slow.”

“Those mean the same thing.”

“Exactly my point,” Lavi mumbled and put his face into the mattress. From the living room, Lavi heard Rhode’s show’s character – Spongebob Squarepants, Lavi shuddered at the sounds – laugh obnoxiously. He looked at Tyki again and saw the grimacing on his face; neither of them liked the cartoon. Tyki stood and shut the door to the room, leaving it at a peaceful silence. Lavi smiled gratefully, and having caught the look, Tyki returned it with a smirk and a shrug as if to say “why wouldn’t I?”

For random conversation, the green eyed man said, “I ran into one of your previous engagements yesterday.” The Portuguese man didn’t appear too interested, not having liked any of his exes, but he raised a brow in inquiry to have him continue. “That not-so-angel Angel – Angelina, or somethin’…”

Tyki outwardly grimaced, “What did she say?”

“She said for me to give you a good slap on the face for her…” he trailed, and Tyki looked slightly alarmed, standing again but coming to him. He put one knee on the bed and urged Lavi’s face towards him. There was a slight discoloration on the blind side – the right side – of Lavi’s face, a bruise.

“I’m sorry, coelho.”

As an apology, the next day Tyki presented him a yellow rose and Lavi gave him a funny stare.

“What are you doing? Roses are for sappy romances,” he said, wrinkling his nose that reminded Tyki more so of a rabbit. He smirked at his expression.

“Yellow roses are given to your sick grandmother.”

It took a moment for Lavi to comprehend what he’d said, but then he bit out pointedly, “I really hope for the sake of your life you’re not calling me your grandmother.”

Tyki chuckled, “Of course not; they didn’t have any other color. Eu te amo, meu coelho.” Lavi smiled and took the rose.

“I know.” He sniffed at it and looked back into the topaz eyes, "I do, too."

MC: Turtle, Spongebob Squarepants, Angel, Roses. This one was the class's Final project, and I'm kind of edgy to know if my teacher will use a translator for those last words... -laughs- That OC sounds pretty familiar...
