A poem in honour of the corpse Bride
Friends I will tell you a story
Of a maid whose heart was torn
She gave her love to a man unkind
Such a one should never be borne
He asked just one thing of her
To leave her home, her life
He would always love her
He would take her for his wife
All she abandoned for his love
Into his arms she was received
But he didn’t want her then
She had been deceived
Seduced abandoned poor heart broken
No comfort could she find
Grieving vowed that she would
One day have her true love by her side
Broken in body and broken in mind
Buried under the oak tree she resides
Her soul trapped by her own vows
Waiting for the husband that may not love her ‘till he dies.
