“Well, yes and no.” the Doctor started. “ Miss Sawyer realizes that she had in fact lose some memories but doesn’t know who much. I was waiting for a relative to be there for Miss Sawyer before I told her the extent of her memory loss.”
Brooke nodded in agreement, “ Can I see her now?”
Doctor Jeffery smiled. “Yes, right this way.” He said, taking the lead, Brooke just followed lost in thought. Even those the doctor told her Peyton was okay Brooke felt this growing need to see her friend, touch her, hold her, it was the only way she truly know Peyton was okay, at least in her mind.
“Here we are.” Unexpectedly this fear grew in Brooke. What if Peyton remembered how much a bitch she been the last couple of mouths? What if she didn’t want to see her?
“Uh, hang on a minute. Does Peyton know I’m here?”
“Of course we informed her that we called you, she seem very relived by that.”
“Oh.” Was all she could say.
“Before you go in Miss. Davis I would like to inform you that the pain meds we gave Miss. Sawyer made her a little…”
“High.” She offered.
“Indeed. Which was another reason why we didn’t inform Miss Sawyer of her condition.” “ Miss Davis I have other patients. I’ll be back in the morning to discharge Miss Sawyer and fill her in on her condition. You can stay with Miss Sawyer as long as you like.” He shook her hand and left.
With a calming breath, Brooke opened the door to Peyton’s room. This would be the first time Brooke had seem Peyton in a good month and a half, with it being summer and them not speaking, Brooke eye’s immediately examined the girl who appeared to be sleeping. She began at the top her face; She looked past the black eye and split lip, and was more concerned about how much her friend face had shrunken in, and the ill gray color she had. Brooke shook her head sadly, knowing that her blonde friend had a tendency not to eat when worry or upset. Brooke suspense were only confirmed when her eyes found Peyton’s torso.
The Brunette gripped Peyton uninjured hand her thumb gently rubbing back and forth. “ What did I do to you P. Sawyer?” and how can I fix it.
When finger suddenly rapped around her own picking her head up she was meet with a weak, but happy smile. “ Brooke.”
“Hi sweetie. I heard they gave you some medicine. Knock you out huh.” Brooke hadn’t removed her hand from Peyton her thumb was still gently rubbing back and forth.
Peyton, the drugs still running strong through her system, weakly nodded. Peyton blinked a few times trying to clear the fogginess from her head, it didn’t help. “ You look like hell.” She said.
“Well, that what happen when one bestest friend is in the hospital.” She semi joked.
“Please,” She said, rolling her eyes. “don’t remind me.”
After a small laugh, the brunette’s face-harden. “ I am serious Peyton you scared the hell out of me, you are okay right?”
“I’m fine.” Brooke narrowed here eyes.
“Okay, I’m a tad bite sore.”
That Peyton code for I’m in pain.
Brooke raised an eyebrow, waiting.
“A little tired.”
Again Peyton code for exhausted
“Since you’re a little tired and a tad bite sore how ‘bouts you get some sleep.” She said, grabbing the sheet at the end of the bed coving the blond teen. “And well you’re sleeping, I’ll go by your house and pick up some fresh clothes.” Brooke went to release her hand from Peyton only to be found in a death grip.
“No, don’t leave!”
Brooke wasn’t sure what brought on that but past it off as Peyton hatred of hospital because of her mother. “Okay, honey, I’ll stay but you have to let go of my hand so I can at least go get a chair.” The grip held strong. “ Or not.”
The strong squeeze on her hand let up. “ I’m sorry Brooke, it’s just I don’t want to be alone right now and I feel like I haven’t seen you in forever. I know that strange but-” She trailed off, not knowing what she was going to say next.
Brooke smiled, sadly. “I get it… I miss you too.”
“Only us could miss each other when we just saw each other yesterday.” Peyton said, notching they was a sadness in the brunette eye’s, she was trying to hide it but the Blonde could tell, she wondered if something had happened?
“ Yeah, but yesterday it was so long ago.”
