This is my first Narnia story where the characters are set during the Golden Age. It centers more on Lucy and Edmund but Peter and Susan are very important too. The ages are as follows: Peter-17 Susan-16 Edmund-14 Lucy-12. Please enjoy!

Prologue

"Peter."

Edmund let out a sigh of annoyance. Whenever Edmund wanted to spar Peter always found a way to hide from him. Edmund didn't know if it was because Peter really didn't want to fight Edmund or he was secretly afraid that Edmund would defeat him one day. Edmund secretly hoped it was the second scenario.

He's been having extra training under Oreius watch because he wanted to show Peter how strong he was. He hated being under Peter's shadow and he strived to do something that would get the Narnians to know that he could also make decisions and run Cair Paravel if needed.

"Edmund, what are you up to?" Lucy asked, skipping towards her older brother with a big smile on her face.

"I'm looking for Peter. I think he's hiding from me again," Edmund replied, turning to face his youngest sister.

"Do you still want to look or would you rather do something else?"

"What are you suggesting?" Edmund asked. Lucy had some strange ideas that sometimes landed the two in trouble, especially with Peter and Susan. He still never understood why the two got frustrated with their antics. They were young kids looking for something fun to do in Narnia while Susan organized the balls and Peter organized everything else.

"Why don't we go for a ride?" Lucy replied, looking out the window. "It's a wonderful day and I would like to explore some more of the lands. Mr. Tumnus suggested we check out the northern woods since we haven't seen much of it yet."

"That's a great idea, Lu," Edmund said as he draped an arm around her shoulders and giving her a little squeeze. Lucy smiled up at her brother. Before the coronation he had been reserved, only speaking if he was going to act out or say something mean to her. He almost always got into a fight with Peter which left the two on bad terms for a while. After everything that Edmund had been through with the White Witch, Lucy was glad to have her old brother back, the one that would play with her and want to be around her. "Hey, Dolly Daydream," Edmund poked Lucy's shoulder, "Come on."

Lucy looked up to see Edmund sitting on Phillip, waiting for her to get on another horse. She quickly climbed onto her horse, Rose's, back. The two flicked the reins and Phillip and Rose tore out of the stables, running across the vast land that surrounded Cair Paravel.

"I bet you that Phillip can beat you there!" Edmund called over the wind.

"You're on!" Lucy shouted back.

Lucy urged Rose forward and Edmund let her get ahead. He smiled down at Phillip who gave him a look back. Edmund looked around at the land that surrounded Cair Paravel. He still couldn't get over how breathtaking the sights were. He knew that if Aslan hadn't stepped in then he wouldn't be there at the moment to appreciate it.

Edmund had the utmost respect for the Noble lion who sacrificed himself for Edmund's protection. Edmund still found himself wondering why he was made a monarch of Narnia when he did nothing but brought everyone pain, including himself, but he knew that Aslan had a very good reason for it. Aslan was never wrong about his judgment.

"About time you got here, slowpoke," Lucy said with a cheeky smile once Edmund reached Lucy's side.

"So sue me for taking in the scenery," Edmund said with a small eye roll.

"That's not like you though. You don't usually pay attention to your surroundings," Lucy said as she looked at her brother in curiosity.

Edmund merely shrugged as he urged Phillip forward. Rose fell into step with Phillip as the two followed the path that wove its way through the woods. Lucy stopped every now and then to marvel at some flowers that were growing on the side of the path. Lucy, with the help of Mr. Tumnus, had helped create the magnificent garden that was growing at Cair Paravel. It didn't surprise Edmund in the least when she suggested the garden to Peter, but what did surprise him was how many different flowers the two had managed to plant.

"What time do you think it is?" Edmund asked as he looked around himself. He had to shout so Lucy could hear him because she was a few feet behind him, inspecting a pink flower that was growing out of the dead ground that surrounded it. "I think we should start to head back, in case Peter and Susan are looking for us."

"Not yet," Lucy begged. "I want to walk a little bit longer."

"Ok, but ten minutes."

"Fine."

Holding onto Phillip's reins, Edmund continued down the path, looking around the woods. Sunlight streamed in rays to the floor of the woods, making it glow in an unusual way. It instantly put Edmund's mind at ease and the last thing he wanted was to go back to the castle where Peter would be barking orders at him.

"Your highness, is there something on your mind?" Phillip asked when he noticed the faraway look in Edmund's eyes.

"I've been thinking about Mum," he admitted. "I miss her a lot and I wish she could see what we've been up to and how we're doing so she wouldn't worry. I know she's going out of her mind with worry by now. I want to see her so badly but we don't know a way home."

Phillip stayed silent, but Edmund was glad that someone would listen to him. He hasn't admitted that to anyone, not even Lucy whom he found was the easiest of his siblings to talk to. He didn't want to seem weak or vulnerable, but he didn't think that he was the only one who missed their mother and missed their home. Finchley paled in comparison to Narnia, but Edmund missed the simplicity of his old home.

"Lucy," Edmund shouted, turning around after a long walk. "I think we should-"

"Edmund! Come quickly!" Lucy's voice echoed in the distance. "Edmund!" Dropping Phillip's reins, Edmund ran in the direction of Lucy's voice, holding his hand on the top of his sword incase he would need to pull it out to defend them. He ran down the path, dodging roots that were sticking out to make it to his sister. "Edmund, hurry up!" Edmund burst through some bushes and ran over to Lucy.

"What is it? What's wrong?" Edmund asked breathlessly as he looked around to see if anything was hiding in the bushes, ready to jump out at them.

"Edmund, look," Lucy said as she pushed bushes aside, now whispering.

Edmund leaned forward so he was looking over Lucy's head and his jaw dropped. There, lying on the ground, reaching for the slightly damp air and gurgling was a little baby. Eyes wide in wonder as limbs moved around, ready to grab and touch anything in its reach.

"Oh Aslan," Edmund muttered, running a hand through his dark hair as he tried to decide what to do. He wanted to rush back to the castle to get Peter and Susan but he didn't want to leave Lucy and the baby there by themselves. But he couldn't bring the baby back with them. What if the mother comes looking for it?

"Is it a boy or a girl?" Lucy asked, looking at Edmund.

"Just look at it, you can tell," Edmund said as he pointed at the baby's nether regions. Lucy turned to look but Edmund grabbed her shoulders and pulled her back. "That's not a good idea," he said quickly. The two looked back at the baby whose face was scrunched up. Before they could react, the baby's mouth opened and it started crying loudly.

"What should we do?" Lucy asked over the noise.

"Why're you asking me?" Edmund questioned.

"You're the older brother," she pointed out.

"Yeah, but you're the girl. You have motherly instincts don't you? Change it."

"How?"

"You're the girl, not me!"

"This isn't getting us anywhere!" Lucy said over the noise, looking down at the baby again. "Pick it up or something."

Edmund opened his mouth to respond but Lucy gave him a hard look. He sighed and picked up the baby, gently cradling it in his arms supporting its head, like Edmund remembered Peter doing after Lucy was born. He made sure to support the baby's head but kept a firm grip on the rest of it. As soon as Edmund held the baby it stopped crying and gazed up at him with bright blue eyes.

"How'd you get it to stop crying?" Lucy asked in amazement.

"I don't know," Edmund said with a shrug. "What do we do? We can't leave it out here. We-" Edmund stopped in the middle of his sentence as a grossed out look came onto his face. He held the baby away from him as it laughed, peeing on Edmund's shirt. Lucy burst out laughing as Phillip and Rose chuckled in amusement. "Oh hush up," Edmund tried to sound mad despite the smile that was forming on his face. "Well...at least we now know what gender it is."

Lucy grinned.
