I have no idea where this will lead. It was on my mind I could do nothing to prevent it from coming out. ROFL: Forgive me for this isn't edited or read by anyone else.
Disclaimer: I don't own any of this. I just play with the characters and when I give them back, they'll hopefully be unharmed!
The spy who loved her
What had he done? What was his excuse now? Where the justification for his actions?
It wasn’t the first time he had “convinced” her to help him, to be his cover in one of his ominous missions. He had brought her into danger more than once over the last couple of years and she had always been able to take care of herself. Her being a big girl was one of her great advantages. Her wit, her intelligence, her way of dealing with other people made her perfect for the job. His job. This time he shouldn’t have trapped her like this. He shouldn’t have forced her to play a role, she didn’t want to. But his charm always worked on her. As always before he had used this certain kind of chemistry between them to get what he wanted.
It had gone quite smooth. All in once perfect until the moment she had spot two men and a woman in the hotel bar. People she knew well, as she told him. People who recognized her immediately, despite her changed and somehow risky wardrobe and the role she was playing. Things had become even more difficult when one of the man – what his name again? Ah right, Lee, had crossed the bar to talk to her. Always in control of herself, she had lied to him. Had to told him, she didn’t know who he was, but he was mistaken her for someone else. He had seen in the man’s eyes that he didn’t believe her, but had eventually returned to his friends.
As a result of this meeting they had to change their plans and left the bar to meet their contact man in another place, imposing to be a fresh-married couple. He had slipped his arm around her, had whispered something into her ear that had caused her to giggle like a nervous schoolgirl. She had played along perfectly, had allowed him to touch her hip, as if he had been used to it for quite some time, but it didn’t help, because the man, this Lee person, had followed them. His presence had been a threat to their mission and in an act of desperation he had grabbed her and had pushed her against a wall and had hissed a quick apology. He had pressed himself against her and had assaulted her with a ravishing kiss that she had even returned once the first shock had faded.
Apparently the little show had been enough to send their unwelcome spy away, but since the transaction would take at least 3 more days and he had no idea how long those people would stay they had to come up with something to ensure they wouldn’t spoil their act.
He hated to have her lie to her friends. She was not part of his club, hardly of his life and certainly not his world. Only once in a while their paths crossed and as delightful as their meetings always were he knew, he used to turn her life upside down. She always complained about it, but he had always known she would never turn her back on him. There was something innocent about her, that made her unique and special to him. Something that made him vulnerable towards her. In a way she touched him like no other woman ever did. Although he would never admit it, he would protect her with his life and if he was honest, he always tricked her into one of his adventures to have her close to him. Only that this time, he had overdone it. She had almost been killed tonight and only because of his intuition she was still alive and now sound asleep in the bedroom behind him.
The night air on the island was smooth. The breeze soft and gentle. It was the perfect atmosphere for a freshly married couple. Only that they weren’t married. And yet the empty bottle of champagne in the other room and the smell of spread alcohol spoke from a merry evening. The cover was indeed perfect. The mere problem was that not everything had been an act. The kiss they had involuntarily shared had left their marks. It had made things difficult between them and as they finally had arrived in the safety of their suite, someone had tried to take their lives. He sighed, cursing him for his lack of judgement and reason. He had slept with her and that would change things between them for the rest of their lives.
