Goteck looked in the mirror in his room. He was wearing a black suit with a white shirt and black tie. He wore smart shoes. He’d had his black hair cut shorter than it had been before and had it spiked straight up, with two spikes coming down over his face, covering the parts of his eyebrows next to his nose. There was a knock at his door. “Come in.” He said.

His mother, Valese walked in. She walked up to him and kissed him on the cheek. “You sure you’re up to this?” She asked.

“It’s Gohan’s funeral, Mom. There’s nothing to say on the matter. I’m going.” He replied, calmly.

She stepped back and looked at her 18 year old son. The new hair cut suited him. It was much neater than the haircut he had sported before that. But she still wasn’t used to it. He’d had the other style for over 10 years. Now, though he was still obviously her son, he didn’t quite look like Goteck anymore.

She reached out and straightened his tie. She took another look at him. “Your uncle would be proud.” She said, smiling.

“You’re right. He would.” Said a voice from the doorway.

Goteck looked up. His cousin Pan stepped in, wearing a long black dress. She came up to Goteck and hugged him. She looked at him. “Very handsome cous.” She said, smiling lightly.

“Thanks, I guess...” He said, his voice trailing off.

His cousin looked at him. She knew what he was going through. Despite Gohan having actually been her father, Goteck had been one of the people closest to him. Without him there, the boy seemed lost, confused. People had tried to comfort him. His grandmother Chichi, his father Goten, and his girlfriend Juliette, they’d all tried. None of them seemed to be able to manage it though.

“Where’s Ant?” Goteck asked, referring to Pan’s fiancé.

“He’s outside in the car.” She replied “Waiting for you and your mom. Your dad’s making his own way there.”

“Don’t wait on my account.” Goteck said “I can get there on my own.”

“You sure?” Pan asked, genuinely concerned.

“Yeah I’m sure. Thanks.”

“OK. Come on Valese. Ant doesn’t want to wait too long.” Pan said, turning to Valese.

“See you there.” Valese said to her son, before walking out of the room with Pan.

Goteck stood in his room for a moment. He looked at himself again. As he did, he could feel a very poorly suppressed power level behind him.

He looked in the mirror to see who it was. It was his father, Goten. Goteck almost smiled. Goten knew he’d wanted to, and returned the smile anyway.

“You ready to go Goteck?” He asked.

“Yeah, might as well.” Goteck replied, solemnly.

“OK.” Goten said, before darting out of Goteck’s room, yelling “Race you!”

That was what Goteck had needed. To see his father at his most immature. He knew it was something to hide he was hurting. But it helped Goteck feel better. He darted out after his father.

When he got outside, he saw his father in the distance. He wasn’t nearing his top speed; he hadn’t even gone Super Saiyan. Of course, Goteck was just going by the lack of a golden aura around his father, and that his father’s power level had shown no sign of increase.

Goteck shot into the sky and sped after his father, closing on him fast. He caught up with- and then over took- his father.

He arrived just ahead of his father. When he touched down, he looked around. His grandmother, Chichi was stood next to the coffin along with Gohan’s widow, Videl, as well as Pan and her fiancé Ant. Goten touched down and walked over, putting a hand on his mothers shoulder before his wife came and joined them.

Goteck also saw Trunks with his mother Bulma, distinguished by his pink hair. He was with his wife, Anthea, but their daughter, Juliette, Goteck’s girlfriend, couldn’t be seen. He guessed she was at her great grandfather and grandmother’s graves.

Goteck took a look a bit further around. He saw Bulma, Trunks’ mother, standing alone. He couldn’t see him, but he could sense Vegeta, Bulma’s husband and Trunks’ father, nearby. He hadn’t expected to see the Saiyan prince there, but was still annoyed by his not showing up. He walked over to Bulma.

“Hey.” He said, feigning a smile.

Bulma took a moment to look on the young man. He was the spitting image of his grandfather, Goku, if you forgot about the different hairstyle. The only real difference was he had brown eyes rather than the deep grey eyes his Grandfather, Father and Uncle had. But their shape and the shape of his face, as well as his build was the same.

“Hello Goteck.” She said, smiling kindly at him “How’re you holding up? I know you and Gohan were close.”

“OK, I guess.” Goteck replied “I feel a bit better knowing the guy who did it won’t hurt anyone else.”

“Yeah, I heard about how you dealt with him. Reminded me of what I heard about your grandfather, Goku, with Frieza.” She said “I hear you even gave the guy that did it the same chance for survival.”

“Yeah,” Goteck said “Well, it was what Gohan would’ve wanted.”

She looked at him and sighed. She was speechless for once. So, she did what felt natural to her, both as a mother and as a Human being. She grabbed his shoulders and pulled him into a hug.

“You’re right.” She said quietly “It’s what he would’ve wanted. And what your grandfather would’ve wanted. He’d be really proud of you.”

“Thanks.” He replied, pulling away “Now, I’m going to go find Jules before the funeral starts.”

“Of course.” Bulma said “It’s been nice talking to you.”

“You too.” He said, turning around and walking off in the direction he could sense Juliette’s energy signature at.

Goteck walked up behind her, his power level suppressed. He put his hands over her eyes, saying “Guess who?” As he did.

She spun round and kissed him, all in one flourishing movement which almost looked choreographed. Of course, it wasn’t. She’d just had a lot of practise at it over the last few weeks. The first time she’d tried it, she’d ended up head butting him and knocking him out.

“Hey.” She said sweetly “I was just visiting a couple of people’s graves.”

“I kind of figured.” He replied, smiling slightly “You ready to get to Gohan’s funeral?”

“Sure.” She replied “Race you!”

She darted off. She had a half decent head start. Of course, she didn’t spend nearly as much time training as he did. He took off from the ground and flew after her at high speed, the wind blowing through his hair, sending the spikes of hair covering his eye brow back into the rest of his hair.

He caught up very quickly. He looked at her, grinning properly for the first time she had seen him do so in weeks. He looked ahead, seeing their destination ahead of them.

“See you at the finish line.” He said, launching forwards at a higher speed.

He began to slow rapidly ... but not rapidly enough. He slammed into his father at high speed. Both men went spinning forward before finally falling to the ground.

They got up, looking at each other seriously. Then, they both burst out laughing. “That was fun!” Goteck said.

“Yeah, but let’s not make a habit of it, that hurt.” Goten replied, smiling.

Bulma looked at the two men. A small smile spread.

So much like Goku.’

Juliette landed next to her grandmother. She saw multiple people laughing.

“What happened?” She asked her grandmother, curious.

“Goteck just sent himself and his father flying.” Bulma replied “Then he got up and started laughing.”

“Sounds about right.” Juliette replied “He’s always being, well, odd like that.”

“That’s not odd.” Bulma said, putting her hand on her granddaughter’s shoulder “That’s a little bit of Goku in him.”

A man in a priest’s outfit came by and coughed. Everyone stood to a kind of attention, being more formal.

“Dearly beloved...” He began.

Goteck wasn’t really listening. He took a look to the hill to the east. Vegeta was stood there, his arms folded. He was wearing a pair of black trousers and a black shirt. Goteck could see a faint bit of white around the collar. A bowtie or a t-shirt?

It didn’t matter. His opinion of Vegeta was slightly jaded anyway. The guy showed no real sense of caring towards his family. He just seemed to not care either way. Stories Goteck had heard begged to differ, but he sometimes found it hard to believe it was Vegeta they were referring to. He didn’t care Vegeta hadn’t exactly been brought up in a loving environment; it didn’t mean he had to be so, well, distant with his own family.

After the service, Goteck walked off. Juliette followed him, having to jog slightly to keep up with him. He reached his destination; the hill to the east.

“What do you want?” Vegeta asked aggressively.

“What, no hello? No how are you? I’m hurt.” Goteck replied, smiling slightly.

Juliette didn’t like where this was going. Goteck always enjoyed a good fight, and her grandfather was always spoiling for one. She moved between the two men.

“OK you two, calm down.” She said, putting a hand up on either side of herself.

“Why Jules? I’m just having a bit of fun with Vegeta.” Goteck said, smiling.

She looked at him sternly. Vegeta saw it, and recognised the look. It was the same one Bulma gave him a fair bit. He smiled slightly, but it was barely noticeable.

“Don’t worry Juliette.” Vegeta said, grinning “Me and him will go somewhere we can have a nice little chat. What kind of a grandfather would I be if I didn’t get to know my granddaughter’s... boyfriend?”

He said the last word with a level of disdain that even Goteck couldn’t miss. Goteck wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, but he was educated. He knew when someone didn’t like him. Vegeta was definitely one of those people who didn’t like him.

“OK, were are we going?” Goteck asked.

“The lookout. Dende managed to create a new door into the hyperbolic time chamber.” Vegeta said, grinning.

“So we’re talking sparring here?” Goteck said, smiling wryly.

“Yes. It’s the best way.” Vegeta said “And in there, we can sort all of our problems in under a minute.”

“Fine by me.” Goteck said, beginning to hover “I’ll meet you there in an hour, I need to get changed.”

“Agreed.” Vegeta said, his hair going blonde and his eyes becoming teal, while a golden aura erupted around him “I will see you there. Clown.”

He shot off. He’d become a Super Saiyan then to try to enforce a sense of superiority in Goteck’s mind.

Juliette turned to him. “Damn it Goteck, you realise he can probably beat you in a matter of minutes?” She said, her question obviously rhetorical.

“Maybe. But I might surprise him.” He said, smiling.

“He knows you’re a Super Saiyan Goteck. You can’t surprise him with that.” She replied.

“Don’t worry. I’m sure one of us will tell you.” He said, his smile becoming wry.

“OK.” She said, finally giving up “I know that once you have your mind set on a fight, there’s no stopping you.”

She came closer to him and kissed him. “Just promise me you won’t hurt him or get too badly hurt yourself.” She said, resting her head against his chest.

“OK.” He replied, moving back “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go and get changed.”

He took off and shot off in the direction of his home.

Just don’t get yourself killed in a training session.’ She thought to herself.

An hour later, Goteck touched down. He’d changed his suit for an orange training garb with a blue weighted shirt underneath. It had Gohan’s training symbol on the back.

Vegeta was already stood there, wearing a red vest shirt with black leather trousers and fingerless gloves. He looked Goteck up and down and almost grinned.

The boy respected his uncle. What he didn’t realise was that if it wasn’t for the different hairstyle, Vegeta might have mistook him for his grandfather Goku. But he didn’t grin; he just looked plainly at the young man, almost scowling.

“You ready, boy?” Vegeta said.

“Always.” Goteck replied, walking inside the building in the centre of the lookout.

“Stupid boy.” Vegeta said under his breath.

They walked up to the brown wooden door. Goteck held an arm out in the direction of the door, standing side on to it.

“After you.” He said, grinning wryly.

Vegeta said nothing. He just walked through the door, with Goteck quickly following.

They stepped out of the small building they found themselves in upon entry and walked out about 500 metres. It took the two men around 2 and a half minutes, at a brisk walk.

They stood opposite each other, about 10 metres between them.

“You ready for this Vegeta?” Goteck asked, cockily.

“Listen clown, I was fighting your grandfather and keeping it an extremely close game before your father was born!” Vegeta replied aggressively, before smirking slightly “So, I’m more than ready for you.”

“Good!” Goteck said, charging at Vegeta.

The Saiyan prince dodged the younger man’s attack. Then, he launched a counter attack of his own.

It wasn’t fast enough. Goteck blocked. Now there was less than two meters between them. Goteck countered with an uppercut, sending Vegeta flying into the air.

Vegeta caught himself mid air. He had no intention of losing to this boy.

Time to show him what a real Super Saiyan can do.’ Vegeta thought to himself with a grin.

As he did, he powered up into his Super Saiyan form, charging Goteck. Goteck managed to block most of the attack, but the sheer force meant some of it got through.

He’s stronger than dad.’ Goteck thought, jumping back ‘But so am I.’

He charged at Vegeta. He knew the only way to stand against the Super Saiyan prince was to keep attacking and not leave any openings for a counter.

Vegeta dodged and countered, sending Goteck hard into the ground.

The boy got up, laughing to himself. “Wow, this is fun!” He yelled to Vegeta “You’re actually proving to be a problem for me!”

“Shut up clown!” Vegeta yelled “Are you going to show me what you’ve got or not.”

Not.’ Goteck thought to himself ‘I promised Jules I wouldn’t hurt him. So I can’t go Super Saiyan. Especially with my lack of training in the form.’

He charged at Vegeta again. This time, his attack made contact. The Super Saiyan was sent flying and landed with a good deal of force.

Vegeta got up, the vein on his head popping out. “Why you little!” Vegeta yelled angrily.”

As he did, his hair became more pointed and sparks began to surge around his body. The golden aura around him became wilder, flailing about more.

He charged Goteck, grabbing him and pinning him to the ground. He had a hidden agenda.

“You know, I’m glad Gohan’s dead.” Vegeta said, smirking “If he could see how weak you are now, he’d be ashamed!”

“You’re lying!” Goteck yelled at Vegeta as his hair turned blonde and his eyes became teal as a golden aura formed around him.

He kicked the older man off of him with a great deal of force. He then charged him, laying punches into him with speed it was hard to follow. Vegeta could feel it as multiple ribs were broken and he decided he’d had enough. He kicked Goteck away... and then powered down to his normal state.

“I surrender.” He said coolly, clutching his side “I’ve seen what I wanted to.”

“Which is?” Goteck replied, still in his Super Saiyan state but with the golden aura gone.

“That you’re your grandfather’s descendant.” Vegeta said, smirking before turning and walking to the door “See you later kid.”

As Vegeta reached the door, he turned back to Goteck. “A word of advice.” He said.

Goteck looked puzzled.

“Train for a bit in that Super Saiyan form of yours.” Vegeta said, smiling slightly “You’ll find it much easier to control and fight in then.”

And with that, Vegeta walked out.

Goteck thought about it for a moment. Vegeta could be right. If he trained in Super Saiyan for a while, he’d have better control over it. It made sense.

He looked down at himself. There were some rips on the orange over shirt. Nothing that couldn’t be fixed. He shrugged it off and got to his training.

When Vegeta got outside, he’d been in there for under a minute. He found Juliette outside waiting for him.

“How’d it go?” She asked, obviously annoyed with her grandfather for fighting her boyfriend.

“Fine.” Vegeta said “I just need to get a senzu bean for these broken ribs.”

“Broken ribs?” She asked, now looking like she was concerned as well as annoyed.

“Yes.” Vegeta replied “Our fight took its toll.”

“I can see that.” She said, gesturing to his torn shirt “Let me guess. You antagonised him into becoming a Super Saiyan just to satisfy your need for a good fight.”

Vegeta said nothing. He just flew off, going down towards Korin’s tower.

“I knew it.” She said to herself quietly, before flying down herself, heading home.

Two hours later, in orbit over the planet, a ship came into view. The man that stood at the front of its bridge looked down at the planet, coldly. He wore grey Saiyan battle armour with his tail wrapped around his waist.

He’d been there years before. He’d thought a man there who’d dominated him in combat. But not this time. This time, he was ready for a fight, and planned to win.

A man walked up behind him. He had long spiked hair. He also wore Saiyan battle armour and had his tail wrapped around his waist.

“Raditz, why are you here?” The man at the front said, not even looking to the man who happened to be his brother.

“To inform you that according to sensors, there is only one pure blood Saiyan on the planet.” The man with long hair replied “Meaning either Larga failed or he managed to kill Kakarot, and the traitor Vegeta.”

“I doubt he managed to fail. Kakarot and Vegeta are indeed powerful, but they are not Super Saiyans.” The first man replied, before turning to Raditz “However, go to the planet, and ensure that is the case.”

“Yes, Turles.” Raditz replied, turning and leaving the bridge, with the slightest sign of a scowl.

Turles did not trust his brother one bit. However, as a Super Saiyan, he was a necessary component in Turles’ plan to eradicate Kakarot and Vegeta.

However, when that’s done,’ Turles thought to himself with a wry grin ‘I’ll be free to annihilate Raditz and claim the planet for myself.’

He stood there, the grin remaining as he watched Raditz’ pod fly towards the surface.

Meanwhile, back on the planet, Goten and Trunks stood at the wake following Gohan’s funeral. They were each holding a glass of champagne, which Hercule of all people had provided. He’d stated that he didn’t want people’s mind on Gohan’s death in a negative way.

Pan had an idea her mother had talked her grandfather into it. Unfortunately, she hadn’t had much time to confront her about it between people telling her they were “sorry for her loss”. She was starting to get annoyed with it. Just as she felt she was about to snap, she saw Juliette walk in.

“Ahh, my, uh, cousin just got here.” She said “If you’ll excuse me.”

“Of course.” The man she was speaking to said.

Pan walked over to Juliette and hugged her. “Thank you.” She whispered in the 18 year old’s ear.

“For what?” Juliette asked.

“For showing up before I took the next person who apologises for my loss’s head off.” Pan said, releasing the young girl and laughing.

“Oh, right. Glad to be of help then.” Juliette said, smiling lightly.

They walked further into the party. Pan picked up a lemonade. Juliette clocked onto this as strange. Normally, Pan wouldn’t turn down a drink. She decided not to say anything about it. Nothing that seemed probing too far anyway.

Instead, she picked up her own drink. She picked one up and offered it to Pan.

“No thanks.” Pan replied to the offer, raising a hand in front of her.

“How come?” Juliette asked.

“I’ve been feeling sick when I’ve been waking up lately.” Pan said.

“Oh? Anything else?” Juliette replied.

“Stomach cramps.”

“Uh-huh.” Juliette said, smiling “Pan, can I ask, when were you last, uh, on, if you get my meaning?”

“Oh.” Pan said, blushing “About five weeks ago.”

Juliette laughed. “Pan, I think you might be pregnant.” She said, taking a sip of her drink through her laugh.

“You’re right.” Pan said “I took a pregnancy test a couple of days ago. Just don’t tell anyone.”

“My lips are sealed.” Juliette said, grinning in a way that made it obvious she was related to Vegeta.

“Thanks.” Pan said “Anyway, I have to go. I promised Ant we’d get an early night because I had to tell him something. I haven’t told him yet.”

Juliette just laughed. “OK. See you, well, whenever really.” She said.

“Yeah. Tell Goteck I said hi.” Pan said, before turning around, going to Ant and then leaving.

About 4 hours later, Chichi and Videl both left, along with Hercule. Next to go was Bulma, who Juliette noted, Vegeta had shown up to give a lift home. He barely acknowledged she was there, besides a brief nod when Bulma waved good bye. He wasn’t happy with her having a go at him on the lookout.

Juliette’s mother Anthea came up to her. “Me and your dad are going now sweetie.” She said “Do you want a ride home?”

“No thanks.” Juliette replied with a slight smile “I’m sure that when Goteck gets here, he can give me a ride home.”

Anthea chuckled. “Uh-huh, I’ll bet he will.” Anthea said, winking at her daughter.

Juliette blushed a shade of deep red. “Mom!” She said, seriously “That’s embarrassing!”

“Sorry sweetie.” Anthea said, kissing her daughter on the cheek “I’ll see you at home.”

Anthea walked off, going with Trunks. About two and a half hours later, it was left just Juliette, Valese and Goten. She saw Goten say something to Valese before leaving. Valese came up to Juliette.

“Hey.” Valese said, smiling kindly.

“Hi.” Juliette replied, returning the gesture “Do you know how long Goteck’s going to be?”

“Probably another minute. Goten said he could feel his power level coming in.” Valese replied.

“So that was what he said.” Juliette said, smiling.

“Yeah. Apparently, he was coming in slow for him, so probably in his car. It’s about half an hour drive, remember.” Valese said, laughing.

As she said that, Goteck walked in. Juliette noticed that he was still in his training garb, and it was torn from the fight with Vegeta, as well as other marks from whatever he had been doing.

He came up to her and kissed Juliette. He looked at his mother.

“OK, I’m going. You kids behave yourselves.” Valese said.

“Don’t worry; I’ll make sure she does.” Goteck replied, smirking.

Juliette just tapped him on the arm, but with enough force to make him rub it.

“Ouch.” He said “That hurt.”

“OK.” She replied “So, you care to tell me what took you eight and a half hours to do?”

“Well, the half hour was getting home and driving in.” He said “I spent the other eight hours in the hyperbolic time chamber training.”

“Hyperbolic time chamber?” she asked.

“Yeah. Time passes 365 times faster in there. You can get a years’ worth of training in a day.” He said “I just spent a total of 121 and a half days training, 66 of them as a Super Saiyan. I’m confident I’ve got control of the form now.”

“You’re confident?” She said, her Saiyan temper showing through, though it may have just come from her grandmother Bulma “Either you do or you don’t.”

“Fine, I do.” He replied, smiling “So, you ready to go?”

“Yeah, let’s go.” She said “I want a rematch from our race earlier.”

They stepped outside. Goteck counted down. “3...2...1...Go!” He yelled.

She shot off, a white aura around her as she flew. He just stood there calmly, following her power level with his senses. When she was about half way to his house, he took off.

She could sense him. There was no way he could catch up now. Suddenly, she felt a massive surge in his power level. Now he was closing much faster than normal. She looked back and saw a golden mass flying towards her.

He flew alongside her, his golden aura indicative of his Super Saiyan transformation. “Hey, that’s cheating.” She shot.

“Hey, I gave you a half way head start.” He retorted, going to his normal form “Happier now?”

“Much.” She said, grabbing him and pulling him in for a kiss.

“Hold on tight!” He said, as his hair and aura became gold again and they had a sudden rush of speed.

When they reached his home, he lowered them down, ensuring she touched down first.

“Looks like you won the rematch.” He said jokingly, laughing.

“Yeah!” She said, laughing as well “Serves you right for messing with your girlfriend!”

They walked into his home. Goten and Valese weren’t home yet. Juliette took Goteck’s hand and led him through to his bedroom. She kissed him passionately. When they parted, she took her top off and climbed into his bed.

“Care to join me?” She said, seductively.

He grinned. “You bet I do.” He said, removing the top half of his training outfit in one, jumping into bed with her.

Half an hour later, Goten and Valese arrived home. They walked into the kitchen. Goteck and Juliette were sat at the kitchen table, each of them with a drink.

“What’ve you got there?” Goten asked.

“Just coffee.” Goteck said, suppressing a laugh from the innuendo.

He could see Juliette was struggling to do the same.

Before Goten could make a return joke, he looked around suddenly. Goteck did the same.

“So you sensed it too.” Goten said “That’s good, means I’m not nuts.”

“Come on, let’s go!” Goteck said, grinning before darting out of the door. Goten chased after his son, pecking his wife on the cheek as he went.

Valese and Juliette were left alone again. “So, what were you two really doing?” Valese asked with a wry grin raising one eyebrow.

“Like he said, just having a nice, hot, coffee.” Juliette said, raising her cup to her lips to prevent herself laughing.

Valese kept her grin. She knew from that cryptic remark and from the badly hidden grin on Juliette’s face what they had really been doing.

Don’t worry kids.’ She thought to herself ‘Your secrets safe with me.’

Meanwhile, Goteck and Goten arrived at the location of the power level they had sensed. They noted Trunks and Vegeta landing not too far from them. Vegeta looked over at them, eyeing them up, looking at Goteck in his fresh training garb. He’d gone to a plain orange garb with blue undershirt.

The clown has become the grandfather clown.’ Vegeta thought to himself, with a wry grin.

As Goteck and Goten flew towards Vegeta and Trunks. As they did, a blast hit the rock face Trunks and Vegeta were standing on.

The pair leapt off, powering up to Super Saiyan as they did. They landed next to Goten and Goteck. Goten also powered up to Super Saiyan. Goteck just stood calmly.

At that moment, a figure emerged from the smoke from the destruction. Vegeta stepped back in shock.

“Raditz!” He said “Impossible!”

A tall, muscular man emerged from the smoke. He had long spiked blonde hair and teal eyes. There was a golden aura around him, with the occasional surge of blue lightning around him. He stopped and smirked.

“Vegeta, a pleasure as always.” He said, sarcastically, before turning to Trunks and Goten “Ahh, and the little Halflings, all grown up. The report said there were two new half Saiyans when we scanned the planet. Now, where’s my dear, dear, nephew?”

“Gohan’s dead.” Vegeta said, with what Goteck could almost mistake for remorse, if he didn’t know Vegeta better.

“Wait, Gohan’s his nephew?” Goten asked, pointing at Raditz “So that makes him my uncle?”

“Yes.” Raditz said, smirking “Kakarot is my younger brother!”

“Goten, don’t get distracted!” Vegeta yelled “His power level is too high for you and Trunks. You know what to do.”

“Right!” Goten and Trunks said in unison.

They back flipped away and got into poses parallel to one another that Goteck found ridiculous. He smirked slightly.

“Fu...” The pair said, bringing their outstretched arms over their heads ending almost touching.

“Sion...” They continued, swinging the arms across their bodies, clenching their fists and bringing their knees up, facing outwards.

“Haa!” They finally said, curving their bodies over and stretching their fingers out, so they barely touched.

There was a bright flash. When the light faded, there was a Super Saiyan with a hair style identical to Vegeta’s. His facial features were primarily the same as Goten’s, but had the same sharp nose as Trunks. He wore a black jacket with bits of flared yellow material. He wore white trousers and a green belt.

He smirked at Raditz, pointing at him.

“Duh-duh-duh!” He said, his voice a combination of Goten’s and Trunks’ “It’s Super Gotenks!”

Raditz stepped back, feigning horror. “Oh no! A fused Super Saiyan! What will I do?” He said, sarcastically “Oh, I know, this!”

He charged Gotenks, hitting him with a number of quick attacks, sending the fused Super Saiyan flying. He then fired a blast. It hit Gotenks, who fell to the ground, separating back into Goten and Trunks, in their regular forms.

Raditz didn’t waste time gloating, however. He charged Vegeta. The two men fought for a moment, exchanging blows at high speeds. Goteck stood there watching, his grin still present.

Raditz slammed down on Vegeta, knocking him out. It was then that Goteck stepped in. He powered up into his Super Saiyan form.

“Wow, another Super Saiyan for me to defeat.” Raditz said, turning to Goteck but holding a hand out towards Goten and Trunks “But maybe I ought to kill these two first.”

Goteck charged him. He was fast. But not fast enough. Raditz fired his blast. Fortunately, Goteck hit him before the blast could do maximum damage to Goten and Trunks, killing them. Instead, it just did major damage to them.

Goteck looked at Raditz. His aura erupted around him.

“You tried to kill my Dad!” He said, scowling “And I really don’t like that!”

Goteck charged Raditz. The two battled evenly for a time. Unfortunately, Raditz was too powerful. He fired a blast at Goteck, sending him flying. He got up, knocked out of his Super Saiyan transformation.

Raditz began to slowly advance. Goteck found himself backing away. As he did, he felt a ki behind him. He spun around to see a Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta.

“Kid, run!” Vegeta said.

“No, I want to fight!” Goteck replied.

In response, Vegeta grabbed Goteck and tossed him flying. Goteck managed to catch himself after a couple of seconds.

As he did, he heard a voice in his head. “Goteck!” It said.

The voice was familiar somehow. He didn’t know where from. It took him a moment then he realised – Gohan!

“Gohan!” He said “How?”

“I’m talking to you through King Kai.” Gohan replied “I’m going to talk you through a way to beat Raditz.”

“I can’t.” Goteck replied “I’m not strong enough.”

“You are.” Gohan said “Now, power up to Super Saiyan, put as little power into going into the form as possible.”

Goteck powered up again. “Now what?” He asked

“Begin charging a Kamehameha.” Gohan replied “And know that I’m with you all the way and that you can do this.”

“OK!” Goteck said, cupping his hands behind his back “Ka...”

This is it.’

“Me...”

It’s now or never.’

“Ha...”

I need to believe I can do this.’

“Me...”

No, I don’t need to believe I can do this.’

“I can do this! Haaaa!”

Goteck pushed his hands forward, firing the blue blast. It fired in Raditz direction. He fired a blast of his own. The two blasts met in the middle.

“You can’t beat me boy!” Raditz yelled.

“Yes... I... Can!” Goteck screamed in response.

The blasts struggled against one another. After a minute, Raditz began to take advantage in the struggle. He laughed maniacally.

“Face it boy!” He said “I’m stronger than you! I was stronger than your grandfather, I was stronger than your father, I was stronger than your friends and I was stronger than your uncle.”

“That was Gohan...” Goteck said quietly before screaming “I’m going to beat you for all of them!”

He began to push forward. He knew the odds were stacked against him. He knew he’d probably die there. But he had to try. For all of his friends and family.

For mom and dad.’ He thought ‘For Jules and Everyone else.’

“For Gohan!” He yelled “Haaaa!”

As he screamed, he poured every last bit of energy he had into the blast. It was a pointless struggle. Raditz still took advantage in the fight. As he did, there was a noise behind him.

“Gallick Gun!”

A purple blast hit Raditz in the back. It knocked him off balance, stopping his input into the blast.

That was the opening Goteck needed. He kept the blast going. It hit Raditz. The man screamed as he was vaporised by the attack.

Goteck fell to the ground, but maintained his Super Saiyan form. He got up, powering down.

As he did, Vegeta landed a few meters away. He smirked at Goteck. “We did it.” He said, falling forward.

Goteck caught him. “Whoah, not so fast gramps!” He said, smirking “That granddaughter of yours would kill me if I let you get downed as well.”

Vegeta chuckled, actually showing emotion for once. “You’re right, she would.” He said “Clown.”

Well, that was almost a nice moment.’ Goteck thought to himself, helping Vegeta get his footing.

That evening, they celebrated with a huge dinner. Chichi cooked her usual dishes. Valese cooked pizza.

Typical mom.’ Goteck thought to himself ‘Always going for the easy stuff.’

After dinner, he stepped outside. Vegeta was there. Goteck walked up next to him.

“I couldn’t have beaten him without you, you know.” Goteck said.

“I know.” Vegeta said “That’s why I helped you. Couldn’t let you get yourself killed. That girlfriend of yours would kill me if I let you get killed.”

“You’re right, she would.” Goteck said, grinning and trying to think of something witty to add on the end.

Eventually, he gave up on it.

“Finally.” Vegeta said, smiling wryly “I never thought you’d stop with your annoying comments.”

“And I never thought you’d stop having a go at me.” Goteck said, looking at Vegeta, who was now wearing a scowl “Sorry, I had one left in me.”

Vegeta just looked back out. “Well, I suppose that, if anyone was going to date my granddaughter, you just about measure up.”

Was that a compliment?’ Goteck wondered ‘Best not ask.’

“Thanks.” Goteck said, looking up into space.

Meanwhile, on the ship in orbit, Turles stood at the front of the bridge. He had a wry grin on his face.

I owe the boy thanks.’ He thought to himself ‘If it weren’t for him, I’d have to put the effort in to kill Raditz myself.’

The smile lowered slightly.

Unfortunately, now I have to deal with the boy.’ He thought ‘He may be more trouble than he’s worth.’

Turles continued to stand there, just looking down at the planet. The smile returned. He knew that despite how strong the boy was, unless he magically had his power level increase exponentially.

And that won’t happen.’ Turles thought, smiling in a maniacal fashion ‘Not on a large enough scale to beat me.’
