“All of gunnery sergeant Mikazudki’s family have been kidnapped in Oregon one for 4 years, his daughters almost a month, and his wife for a few weeks!” Gibbs exclaimed, his piercing light blue eyes staring at his old field partner.
“I know what you’re thinking Jethro and I put in a call. Oregon’s police department is being investigated, as we speak. In the mean time we have been given this case and all of the case files, this case is our top priority.” Jenny calmly said looking watching as anger flashed in his eyes.
“Jethro why is this case so personal?” Jenny asked, as Gibbs head for the door. He simply paused for a moment to look back before storming out of her office.
‘What are you hiding Jethro? Why is this case so important?’ Jenny thought, as she sighed.
Meanwhile.
Kohana slowly opened her eyes and shot up.
She slowly relaxed when she looked around and recognized that she was in Ducky’s autopsy room.
‘I’m back at NCIS….but how? When did I get back?’ Kohana thought. As she closed her eyes, as flashes of what happen returned to her and she opened her eyes.
‘That’s right I ran off and was almost re-kidnapped…Gibbs and the others must have saved me…’ Kohana thought. Suddenly she got the feeling that she wasn’t alone, and she looked at the table next to her.
She stared at the woman sleeping next to her.
‘That’s not mamma…she looks like her, but…that’s not her. Then who is she? I know I know her, but from where?’ Kohana thought, as she slowly got off the table and walked over to where the woman was lying.
She was at her side, when she slowly and gently touched the woman’s hand.
‘Wait this warmth…can she be the one who…the one who made me feel safe when I was away from neesan? I have to remember her…’ Kohana thought, as she yet again closed her eyes and tried to force herself to remember who this woman was.
Flash back.
“Are you sure you’ll be alright? I can stay longer if you want?” A kind soft voice asked, as I peeked my head out of the bedroom.
“No it’s alright neesan I’m fine now, besides you have to get back to your home. You’ve been away from work to long and I’m sure your husband is worried.” The other woman’s voice was soft and soothing, as they both smiled at each other and said their good byes.
End of flash back.
Kohana’s eyes shout open, as she felt tears slowly coming down her face.
‘It can’t be…’ Kohana thought, as she felt her hand grab the older woman’s hand, as tightly, as she could.
“Aunty Kikyo!” Kohana said, as the older woman’s eyes slowly opened and she looked to her side.
“Thank God your safe…we all where so worried about you.” Kikyo weakly whispered, as she took her free hand and wiped away Kohana’s tears.
Kohana froze, as she remembered that only two women have ever done that to her. One was her own mother, and the other was her aunt.
“It’s really you! Aunty Kikyo!” Kohana happily yelled, as she hugged the older woman, as tightly, as she could.
“I’m glad you’re alright as well.” Kikyo happily said, but her voice was very weak, as she wrapped her free arm around the young 12 year old.
"Mamma, neesan and me never lost hope.......we knew you were still alive...." Kohana managed to say, before her voice gave out on her.
Ducky and Ziva soon entered, after hearing voices within autopsy. They both slowly let each other go, as Kikyo was trying to sit up.
“My dear please stay lying down, I haven’t finished checking you completely and you seem to have more of the drug in you. So please don’t move around too much.” Ducky calmly explained, as Kikyo lied back down on the table.
“Now then little lady, please return to your table, as well I’m not finished with you either.” Ducky calmly said with a smile, as he was standing at Kohana’s side.
Kohana nodded her head yes to him, as she released Kikyo’s hand and returned to sitting on the table next to her aunt. Ziva pulled a chair over and was sitting next to Kohana.
“Kohana how are you feeling?” Ziva calmly asked, as Kohana smiled.
Happy to see her again and hearing her soothing voice made the young 12 year old feel safe.
“I’m alright Miss Ziva. I don’t feel sick or dizzy, but I am sorry for running off.” Kohana’s voice became quieter, as she lowered her head and covered her royal blue eyes.
“It was dangerous to do that and I’m really sorry and won’t ever do it again.” Kohana whispered, as Ziva sighed and smiled at the 12 year old.
“It is alright Kohana, but why did you run away in the first place?” Ziva asked, as Kohana kept her head lowered.
“I over heard you and Gibbs talking to that bad woman…she said that my momma and sister where both with that man…at first I didn’t believe it, but then I remembered that I haven’t seen momma since I’ve been here. I remembered you saying that Miss Abby couldn’t get a hold of her and so…” Kohana slowly stopped, as Ziva sighed realizing that them trying to protect the young girl ended up hurting her more.
“I am sorry that we did not tell you about your mother, but we did not think that you would be able to handle it. After all you were still very unstable, because of the drug and then there was the fact you kept blaming yourself.” Ziva calmly explained, as Kohana nodded her head in agreement.
‘I knew there was a reason why they didn’t tell me….I should never have doubted them…’ Kohana thought, as she felt relaxed and safe knowing that she really could trust these people.
Knowing that they really wanted to help her and her family.
Later.
Ziva was at her desk while Kohana was once again taking a nap on the floor behind her.
Ducky thought it better for her to rest more, and her aunt said she’d be able to rest if she was not lying on a cold table. So Ziva brought her back up with her. At first Kohana didn’t want to leave her aunt’s side, but after they promised that she’d be alright, she agreed to go with Ziva and as soon as she lied down, she was out cold.
Gibbs looked down over his team as he stood on the balcony in front of MTAC, allowing himself a small, brief smile as he watched them work. DiNozzo was at his desk working just as hard as Ziva. He knew that McGee was down in Abby’s lab looking over everything they had with her, trying to find a new lead. His smile vanished though as he thought of all the time they had lost and their lack of new leads. Heading to the elevator, he stepped in and pushed the down button.
“Ah Jethro, I didn’t think I’d see you down here.” Ducky said, as Gibbs walked into autopsy.
Ducky soon noticed that Gibbs was staring at the sleeping older woman.
“Oh she will be fine with rest. Both she and Kohana are very lucky. They both seem to have very strong blood, bodies and a strong will to survive." Ducky examined his friend's expression. "Did you need me for something?” Ducky asked, curious as to what Gibbs's visit was about.
“Duck, can you leave us alone for a moment?” Gibbs asked, as Ducky looked at his old friend confused.
“I need to talk to her alone.” Gibbs explained, finally pulling his eyes away from the sleeping woman and was looking at his old friend.
“Very well, I needed to go to Abby’s lab anyway, but Jethro don’t push too hard.” Ducky calmly said with a small smirk, as he left autopsy.
Gibbs waited awhile making sure they were really alone, as he walked over to her and sat down across from the table. Kikyo slowly opened her eyes, the feeling of someone staring at her finally woke her up. As she slowly sat up, she saw Gibbs sitting there, confirming her feeling.
“You must be Gibbs right?” Kikyo asked, as Gibbs smirked.
“I’m surprised you know who I am.” Gibbs said still smirking.
“How could I not, both Kagome and Inu Yasha told me stories about the great Jethro Gibbs? Inu Yasha especially with his war stories about how you saved his butt fairly regularly.” Kikyo smiled, however Gibbs could see the smile didn't reach her eyes. "Of course, he only admitted that when he was drunk," she added and Gibbs could see she was lost in a memory. "He was a good man, had an ego the size of Everest, but he was a good man. He took care of his family, of my baby sister."
“The drug doesn’t effect your memories like it does with Kohana.”
“I guess not, then again I’m older then her. It’s nice to finally meet you face to face. I’m Kagome’s older sister Kikyo.” Kikyo said, trying to maintain a happy demeanor, but Gibbs could hear how tired and weak she was.
“You as well. I’m sorry that I woke you I just wanted to make sure I was right about who you are. You should rest we’ll talk more once your better.” Gibbs calmly said, as he got up and was slowly walking over to the doors.
“Gibbs you will find them right?” Kikyo asked, allowing her mask to slip and the concern to show through. "You'll fine my niece and my baby sister right?" Gibbs stopped and looked over his shoulder at the woman.
“Of course, I gave him my word.” Gibbs nodded his head, as he began walking once again.
Once he left Autopsy Kikyo slowly lied back down.
‘So that’s the famous Jethro Gibbs. I’m glad that I finally got to meet the man that was so close to both Kagome and Inuyasha.’ Kikyo thought with a smile on her face. As she fell back into a deep sleep, the last thought that crossed her mind was, 'I believe him.'
