Chapter 1: A New Start
Night at the Museum: The Battle of Sekigahara
Summary. 255 characters doesn't do justice to the beautiful summary I planned out.
AU. Here she was, Shiina Yuya, 21 years of age, and currently working at Happy Teriyaki.... That was, until she got fired. Looking through the morning paper, Yuya comes across the infamous Demon Eyes Kyo, killer of a thousand men. Oh, and the Museum of Natural History was looking for a new night guard. Jolly good.
Disclaimer: Sadly, I do not own Night at the Museum, neither do I own the second one and
as much as I would like to own the gorgeous guys in SDK, alas, it belongs to our wonderful Akimine Kamijyo.
Author's note:
I am also going without a beta reader. I hope the grammar isn't too bad.
Rated T: Why? because I have a dirty mouth.
italics will be Yuya's thoughts.
Yuya did have some pretty big dreams you know. She wanted to become a bank manager or a CEO with a business that raked in lots of cash... Right now, she was a waitress at a local Happy Teriyaki... not too bad. She was aiming high, and someday she knew... she would make it.... right?
“Ms. Shiina, if I catch you staring off into space one more time while there are customers, you WILL be fired.” the Boss ordered snidely. He was never very nice to Yuya and the only reason he hired her was because he had been short on employees at that time. Now he was just looking for an excuse to fire her.
“ I won't” she replied back. “Let you catch me”, she muttered under her breath, smoothly flipping her boss off while he was talking to a customer.
“Oh?” “Did I just see a certain newbie flipping off our Boss?”
Yuya grit her teeth, “Shut it Cindy, I don't have the patience to deal with you.”
Cindy wagged her finger, “Well, you better be nice to me, or I'll blab out your dirty little secrets.” Cindy sauntered off, swaying her hips, catching the eye of boss, who grinned appreciatively at Cindy's nice little ba-donka-donk.
Yuya rolled her eyes, disgusted. Cindy had always looked, acted, and dressed like a whore, which Yuya hadn't known was possible because the restaurant uniform consisted of a black tee, an apron and slacks.
Cindy, however, had managed to wear a tight v-neck shirt that hung on her like a second skin, and leggings underneath it which did nothing to hide the outline of her panties. What a little whore.
Grabbing a few menus, Yuya walked over to the family who had just walked in. Yuya jotted down their orders absentmindedly, her mind still not clearly focused. Today was the anniversary of her brother's death.
Two years ago, he had been driving home from work, when a drunk driver rammed into his car. Shiina Nozomu's spinal column snapped, and he was paralyzed waist down. He didn't survive the night, and was pronounced dead at 11: 49 pm. Eleven minutes away from her 19th birthday. The driver who had caused the death, also died that night. The last thing he had done was look into Yuya's eyes, as if he was apologizing.
Yuya hated him. She hated everything about him, his wife, his two kids, his damned drinking behaviors, and most of all, she hated his blue eyes. The eyes that had latched onto her own eyes. The eyes that had shown sorrow at what he had done, the eyes that showed how he regretted drinking that night. The eyes that slowly flickered and turned unseeing, those beautiful cobalt eyes. His family sobbed around his death bed as the doctor on duty finally closed the lids of those blue, blue eyes.
Yuya looked into the blue, angry eyes of her employer as her berated her for once again, losing focus. Cindy smirked at her from behind the boss, pleased that the only other female worker here, was now about to be fired.
“Do you know how you're making me look?!” “That family there has been waiting for over 30 minutes to get the damn meal.” “Do you know why? Maybe a certain waitress was daydreaming her ass off.”
Yuya, looked down ashamed, “I'm sorr-” “No, sorry's not gonna cut it. You're fired. Get your things and go.”
As Yuya grabbed her things, Cindy smiled cruelly at her, and leaned down beside her ear. “You know.. if you had been just a teensy-weensy bit more nicer to me, I wouldn't have told the boss. Oh well, since you're so ugly anyways, you've been repelling the customers around here. I guess it's good that you're going.” Cindy blew a seething Yuya a kiss. “Tootles.” Yuya just snapped. She turned around and punched Cindy straight in the middle of her face.
Cindy cried in pain, as she spit several teeth out.
Yuya gave her a grin, “You know, maybe if you had just been a teensy-weensy bit more nicer to me, I wouldn't have punched you. But oh well, since you're so ugly anyways, I fixed your face for you, free of charge. Tootles.”
And with that, Yuya stalked out of the door of Happy Teriyaki. Pros, she was rid of that conniving whore, Cindy. Cons, she no longer had a job... again. She couldn't help that she had a short attention span. Thinking about jobs, Yuya opened the newspaper, hoping to find some job ads. She looked at the main column. Apparently the Museum of Natural history was getting some new exhibits today from Japan. She examined the photos of the exhibits.
Demon Eyes Kyo: A legendary samurai who is rumored to have slain a thousand men. His eyes shine with an eerie light akin to a demon, which has earned him his name: Demon Eyes Kyo. He commanded the legendary Shiseiten which consisted of the four strongest samurai warriors. At the Battle of Sekigahara, he killed anyone who stood in his way, friend or foe. An epic battle between himself and....
He really was striking, and even from the photo, his blood red eyes seemed to promise death to all who opposed. Oh fuck it, what the hell was she doing. This was why her attention span was short. However, she couldn't help but look at the rest of the photos. That was when she spotted it. The Museum of Natural History was looking for a new night guard.
A few hours later, Yuya had on a blue uniform and was receiving a tutorial on how to lock, set alarms, and not fall asleep doing her job. Apparently, that was the problem the last guy had, and that resulted in some truly priceless paintings to be stolen. While the Boss (she hadn't troubled herself enough to remember his name) was giving her a tour, Yuya's mind, once more, started to wander off again. She stopped when she saw an adorable monkey. “Ah, I see you have met our dear Dexter,” Boss said. Yuya grinned, she loved monkeys.
“Well, Ms. Shiina, I am hoping you will be able to tolerate our little job, I leave the museum to you.
Remember, do not let anything in or out.”
Yuya giggled, “Of course not.” And with that Boss left, leaving Yuya to her own devices. She really was surprised she had gotten the job so easily. She wandered around, occasionally turning on the flashlight for fun. She found herself in front of the gigantic Tyrannosaurus Rex. Yuya sat down in front of it, wondering if she could climb in between the dinosaur's vast jaws. She looked down at her watch.
Damn, only 7:59, got friggin 10 hours more, no wonder the last guy fell asleep. And that was when she felt it, the looming presence behind her, not to mention the gigantic T Rex that was no longer in front of her.
Chapter one is done. Ooh that rhymed. I'm so talented ;).
