Dylan's Roadtrip
Chapter Seventeen: 'Tis The Season
The morning was off to a rough start, Dylan needed to take one of those little capsules just to be able to accept a hug from someone, that's how badly it hurt him. He was completely pain-free when it came time for Felicia to rub on the gel, it didn't hurt him at all. Felicia actually had to wake Dylan up to get him to turn over so she could finish with the gel. After waking him up for the second time, Dylan finally got up. He unsteadily got to his feet. Felicia became suspicious, what the hell was in that tiny capsule that fucked Dylan up so badly? "You okay honey?" She inquired softly.
"Yeah... I'm fine. Just a little dizzy." He had to hold on to the nearest object in order to gain his balance.
"Dylan, maybe you should just stay home sweetheart." Felicia warned gently, not wanting to put down his hopes for the day.
"But mom, I promised I'd be there..." Felicia sighed but gave in.
"Alright, is everything ready?" Dylan slowly nodded, hoping that his lightheadedness would soon cease. "Good, let's get going my dear. Perhaps something with caffiene will liven you up a bit." Soon they were in the vehicle and heading towards the mall. This was the first time that Dylan had ever felt sick in a moving car before. They had to pull over about three times. It was about one thirty when Dylan approached his friends in the mall.
"Hey Dylan, we thought you stood us up for a few minutes there..." Koby began, but then he actually got a good look at Dylan. He was red and sunburnt as hell, and he looked as if he was going to be sick, and in the food court too. Overall it didn't look like he had a clean bill of health at all.
"Sorry guys, my mom had to pull over like three times because I had to puke. That's kinda why I'm late." They all looked at one another.
"Don't worry about being late Dylan... it's all good. Especially since we see how sick you are just by looking at you." Jade sniffed the air and she cringed a bit.
"What's that smell?" She inquired, trying to investigate with her senses.
"That would be my antibiotic gel..." He confessed. "Sorry." Jade winced, how could she embarrass him like that? Poor guy. She bent down and hugged him no matter what he smelled like. About two seconds he couldn't take it. "Ow..." He stated, Jade let go immediately.
"I'm sorry Dylan. It hurts you to hug?" Dylan nodded.
"I apologize if I'm a little spacey or if I actually start falling asleep. I'm on these muscle relaxants and they knock me out so yeah, be on the look out for that." The girls and guys all wondered if this was an okay time to get together, with Dylan being so sick and all. "On the brighter side, I come bearing gifts..." He told them, bringing all the bags of wrapped presents. They all melted when Dylan presented them with their gifts. Bringing out Yasmin's first which he couldn't wrap. She gladly took the stuffed dolphin and she hugged it.
"Aw Dylan... thanks!" He also gave her a small box, She eyed him suspiciously but she opened it. It revealed a charm bracelet with aquatic animals as the charms. "Wow... I can't believe you got this for me."
"Ah you were easy." He chuckled. "They're from Marineland." Yasmin gave her stuffy a hug and without thinking she pulled Dylan into a hug too.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you! You're such a great friend." Dylan didn't have the heart to tell her that he was in pain. He hugged her back and then he went on.
"Cloe... you were pretty easy too. I got your gift in Buffalo, New York." Cloe couldn't take the suspense anymore, she opened the box and it revealed a beautiful pair of black three and a half inch heels with rhinestones engraved. Across the arch of the strap going over the foot it said 'Angel' with the rhinestones on both shoes. She set the heels back in the box and she too hugged Dylan, a lot lighter than Yasmin hugged him though.
"Wow... thanks. How'd you get Angel on the strap? You can't tell me that they came like that." Dylan blushed,
"No... but the rhinestones are real. My mom took them and did them up for me."
"Aw, these are amazing Dylan. Thanks so much. Thank your mom too." Dylan was so glad that Cloe loved her gift. He was scared that she wouldn't like them but he was wrong, she loved them. Dylan handed Sasha her present. She glanced at Dylan but then she opened her present and her mouth dropped.
"Oh my- no way! Dylan, Fantasy Ride isn't even released here in Stiles yet! How'd you-" Dylan shushed her.
"Anything for you Sash... nah, honestly I just lucked out." Yasmin pointed her index finer at Dylan.
"That's why you text me asking if Sasha had Ciara's Fantasy Ride... nice sleuthing Dyl..." Yasmin stated with a smile. Dylan grinned.
"Yeah well, I had my people on it and boom, here it is. All yours." Sasha wanted to hug him but she just took his sunburnt hand instead.
"Thanks Dylan. You're the best." Dylan shrugged it off.
"Nah, thank Yasmin who snuck into your bedroom just to look at your CD collection." Sasha looked over at Yasmin who was blushing big time.
"Thanks girl..." Yasmin giggled.
"No problem Sasha." Dylan then pulled out a box for Jade. She looked at it skeptically.
"Is this thing ticking?" Dylan rolled his eyes and chuckled.
"No, of course not. If I wanted to give someone something that ticked I'd get your boyfriend a clock." Koby rolled his eyes but chuckled, it was true. He often slept in and was late for school. "Let me just say that I really hope you like your present because searching for just the right thing for you, gave me one hell of a wicked headache." Intrigued, Jade unwrapped the box and she saw that it was perfume.
"Hm, Doir Addict?" She took it out and she removed the lid, gently sniffing the sprayer. It was this gentle, but sexy scent, She really couldn't explain it. "How'd you pick this one out for me?" Dylan smiled, remebering exactly how.
"After trying like fifty different perfumes, I thought I was done. Then I noticed that one and I would have remembered whether I tried it or not. When I smelled it, I instantly thought of you... Koby you try it and tell me if it reminds you of Jade." Koby took the perfume bottle and he actually sprayed in on her, inhaling the scent. His eyes widened and he nodded right away.
"It really does remind me of you babe..." The others all agreed that it was indeed the perfect signature scent for Jade.
"Now Cameron... I think you're really gonna love me when I give you this." Cameron was hesitant about opening the present in front of everyone, he hated to be the center of attention, even if he was talented. "Go on, open it." Cameron gently tore the wrapping paper and he then opened it right up when he realized it was the latest book in the series he was really into.
"Wow, thanks Dylan... this must have been very expensive... I mean you didn't have to spend that on me. It could have gone to something more useful like your collage fund and-"
"It's priceless, trust me on this. Open up the book." Cameron opened up the book and nearly fainted.
"How'd you meet up with her to get her to sign it?" Everyone glanced at Dylan, eager to hear this story.
"Funny story actually. We decided to stay in Davenport, Illinois for the night and I learned that she was at the local library and you don't think I pay attention to you when you go on about your books..." Cameron blushed.
"Well, you're not an avid reader."
"True... she is really nice in person, we had a conversation for like ten minutes. She was so sweet and really cool." Cameron smiled, that's just what he pictured her to be like.
"Thanks Dylan, this tops everything you've ever gotten me, now I wouldn't know what to get you." Dylan shrugged it off.
"Meh, your friendship is all I want." Cameron was so flattered that Dylan was being so modest.
"Alright Koby... I had to uh, get you something kinda last minute... I don't know if you're gonna like it..." Koby took the present, opened it and freaked out.
"What? Are you kidding me!? You didn't think I'd like this? You're so bullshitting me." Dylan laughed and Koby hugged Dylan. "Wow an 8GB memory for my new camera... thanks Dylan."
"It's also compatible with most cameras so if you happen to get a new one down the road, try that memory card, it just might work." Koby nodded and he was so grateful to Dylan for getting him such an awesome gift.
"Now Eitan... I know you're getting a brand new car from your parents... so I had to stop in Las Vegas, Nevada to get your gift." Eitan cocked his right eyebrow, what did Dylan get him exactly? Eitan's gift was in a gift bag. He pulled out a pair of fuzzy red and white dice attached by a string. Of course they were meant to hang in the car.
"Aw, they're so cool. Aha you knew I always wanted to go to Vegas... thanks Dylan."
"There's a little something else for ya too." It was a good thing Eitan saw what it was before he brought it out of the bag or else he would have died of embarrassment. It was a box of "Assorted Flavors" condoms. He looked at Dylan, his cheeks turning several shades of red.
"Thanks man..." He stated.
"Hey, you've gotta christen your car..." Eitan punched Dylan's shoulder without thinking.
"Ah! Sorry... you okay?" Eitan asked as Dylan winched in pain.
"Yeah... I'm dandy." He replied as took a couple deep breaths, trying to wish the pain away.
"Well, it's great to have our Dylan back..."
"Aw thanks, it's great to be back."
As for Dylan, he and Trinity kept in touch through virtual communication and telephones but they didn't have enough for a long distance relationship so they remained the best of friends. Courtney and Sharron were happy, and ecstatic to be together. Luckily all went well in the trial over the summer and Sharron was now living with them. Dylan may have lost a sister in distance, but he gained another. Marco, never said a word to anyone, he didn't need to, considerig the letter he recieved from Isabelle stated it all. He still had no idea that she was pregnant, nor would he ever know. Isabelle managed to call everyday at least once and soon it was time for the baby to be born. Of course it was another roadtrip but it was worth it. Isabelle gave birth to a bouncing baby boy named Noah Dylan. Of course on the way home, Dylan had stopped to se Trinity, only to find out that she had a boyfriend now. He wasn't too crushed, he knew that she was happy and that's all he wanted for her. When it came to Dylan, well, he wasn't done searching for that one person whom he would spend the rest of his life with. Who knew? Perhaps that person could be someone he walked right by everyday. Still, life was good, and he intended to make it even better.
