A/N: HOLY CRAP! 0_o I didn’t expect this many people to like this story! XD Really I am flattered by all these reviews…I wonder if it because the chapter was so long. -___- hmmm…well I am happy you liked it anyway! Having chapters this long is probably a good thing then huh? Well I am answering anyone’s questions, and I am putting the tally marks for all the pairing votes. Though I may just surprise you all, and put in a surprise pairing.

Summary: While at the beach, Bella Swan meets a mysterious young woman whom she finds out just moved to Forks from Japan. Despite the fact that she has such a beautiful smile, her eyes are very sad reminding her of her ex-boyfriend Edward Cullen. On the first day she attends Forks High School, she saves Bella from a rouge vampire sent to kill her shocking the wolves of La Push and the Cullens. What exactly is this young woman, and is she a friend or foe? And why does Edward have this strange urge to protect this shattered female warrior?

Chapter 2: The Animal I Am

Lying back in her bathwater, Kagome sighed and ran a hand through her bangs. ‘That was an interesting turn of events.’ During the meeting with her brother, and his new ‘associates’ she had found out that not only were there Vampires but that Shifters were here as well. If anything she was pretty sure that Jacob and the others on La Push were the shifters. Kagome was sure of this since it would explain the wolf-like smell to them, which she had picked up when she was with them.

Kagome was curious as to why they haven’t asked her anything because of her scent? But then she remembered that her natural scent overpowered it currently, due to her having her youkai contained.

Sinking further into the water, she let out a breath of content. At least things were not going to be boring for her here in Forks, Washington. ‘Not to mention I get to vent my frustration out on rogue newborn vampires.’ Flexing her claws, she watched detachedly as her nails lengthened and then shortened. Later today she was going to do her first round of patrol around the town.

What made her even more curious was the fact that this Victoria seemed to be after Bella Swan. Laughing softly, she brought her hand up to her mouth as an amused smirk formed on her lips. “I knew that things were going to be very interesting around that girl…” Apparently last year, because of Bella this Victoria’s mate was killed by the Cullen coven. Reaching a hand over towards the side of the tub, she delicately grasped the wine glass.

Bringing it to her lips, she sipped the delicious crimson concoction. Licking her lips sensually, she then placed it back over on the counter. Raising a tanned leg into the air, she watched a drop of water trail down the appendage in contemplation. After she was done with this, she was going to have a finish her lunch and then in an hour she was going to start her rounds. Hearing a growl of agreement from her beast, she couldn’t help but smirk.

“May the Kamis have mercy on any rogue vampires I find…for they won’t get any from me.”

Throwing her head back she laughed as she heard her beast howl in challenge.

Pushing the button to drain the water, she climbed out of the tub and didn’t bother getting a towel to cover her bare flesh. Trailing her fingers all the way through her hair, she stalked over into her room and shivered at the feel of her silky hair, and cool air against her flesh. Looking out the large window-wall that was facing the forest, she bared her fangs in a smirk. The fun was going to start once she began her task.

Her thoughts then returned to the Cullens, Shifters, and Bella Swan. Something told her that something was going to happen today, and she would most likely be revealing herself to both of these groups. A small smile appeared on her face as she thought of Jacob and the others. It seemed that they were definitely going to be surprised; after all due to her powers they couldn’t smell anything out of the ordinary about her. Coming out of her thoughts, she went over to her bag and laid down on her bed.

Opening the bag filled with McGriddles, Kagome knew that she was still naked, but hey this was her own house. She had gotten over her modesty while staying in the Feudal Era, sometimes she has to run out and fight bearing all to the world because she had no time. Of course the first time that happened she was horrified, but she knew that when it came down to it she would have to fight regardless of wither or not she has clothes. Soon she realized that she actually felt more comfortable naked, especially when she accepted her beast as a part of herself.

Stuffing the final McGriddle into her mouth, she licked her lips and savored the lingering taste. McGriddles were really something created by the Kamis! Reaching her arms above her head, she stretched until she felt her back pop and then jumped off her bed. Landing in front of her dresser, and she opened it and pulled out black spandex shorts and spandex tube top. Quickly putting them on, she made her way downstairs and towards the indoor dojo.

Opening the sliding doors, she walked over towards the practice weapons rack. Grabbing one of the halberds, she went into the middle of the dojo. Sliding into a stance, she then began to go through her katas. Repeating the katas over and over again, she finally decided after about two hours that she was done. Using the towel that was over to the side, she wiped the sweat from her forehead.

A beeping sound came from the clock on the side of the wall, and she saw it was in the late afternoon. Smirking she determined that it was time that she started her rounds around Forks. Going back up the stairs, she took a quick shower before getting dressed once more. Choosing a Chinese style dress with white short shorts to go underneath it, she slid into it and admired her reflection. The dress was tight, showing off the curves of her body, but there were slits going up towards her hips to allow free usage of her legs.

Slipping small black Chinese slippers, she then hopped down the stairs and out the door. Instantly, she took off into the forest and began her patrol. Kagome’s movements to a normal human would be seen as a nothing but a blur. To her and some other supernatural beings’ eyes that were going at this speed, everything was in sharp detail. Blue eyes darted around her looking for anything that was remotely suspicious, reaching a hill a second later. Kagome lifted her nose into the air, and sniffed.

A metallic-like scent reached her nose, and crimson flashed through her eyes. Her pupils thinned into slits, and she hissed. This was fresh blood! Dashing off in that direction, Kagome knew then that she was going to have to take care of this quickly. Soon the humans would realize the unusualness of the disappearances and killings.

That was not something neither she nor her ‘employers’ wished for. Despite what others most likely thought, mortals were anything but stupid or oblivious.

‘At least when something suspicious happens a couple more time!’

Jumping right into air, she looked around and saw the whole of the forested area. ‘Nothing seems to be out of the ordin-’ As she had that thought, she saw in one of the clearings five people. Thanks to her sharp vision, she saw that one of them seemed to be in a stepping back in a frightened matter. The others were walking forward with the swagger of a predator.

Dropping down to the ground in a crouch, she bolted through the forest towards the two at top speed. Raising her nose, she took in the scents after filtering out the smell of the forest. One smelled like a normal human, while the others smelled strangely sweet like candy. Licking her lips, she smirked at the thought. Rushing by everything, she noticed several blurs which she passed.

‘Hmm…it seems I am not the only one rushing over there…well let’s see if they are friend or foe.’

With that thought, she jumped into the trees, and hopped from branch to branch. Finally reaching the clearing, her eyes widened as she took in the human that was in distress.

“Bella Swan?”

Bella Swan wasn’t someone who was easily surprised, and she was pride of this fact. Even so, there was no denying that she was surprised by a very unlikely person. The person whom had surprised her so was in fact her ex-boyfriend, Edward Cullen. Staring at the vampire in shock, she lifted an eyebrow questioningly. “You want to know about Kagome?”

The handsome young man had a frustrated look on his face. Last year it was the same expression he had, when he had told her about how he couldn’t read his mind. Running a hand through her hair, she continued to give him a questioning look as she stared at the vampire. She wondered exactly why he was so interested in the aforementioned girl. Ever since they broke up, he and the rest of the Cullens went back to their usual isolation.

Since the break up, they haven’t really spoken to each other much. While they were still on friendly terms, any friendship they had just wasn’t the same. Now for him to come and talk to her willingly, and about the new girl surprised her. “Well I don’t really know much about her…in fact it was Jacob Black that introduced me to her.” That fact caused Edward’s eyes to wide slightly in surprise.

Jacob Black knew her?

Losing himself in his thoughts, he wondered how she knew the mutt. She couldn’t be a wolf because he and the others would have instantly known, nor does she have any resemblance to those on La Push either. ‘Then what was she…there is no possible way that she is human…anyone can tell that from her scent…’ Edward noticed that he had lost himself in thought, and shook his head. For the rest of the class, the two didn’t talk much and worked on their assignments.

As school ended, he and the other Cullens decided to go home and discuss the new student with Carlisle and Esme. The ‘siblings’ were interested in the young woman, despite the denial coming from Rosalie. Of course Alice and Edward were the ones, whom seemed the most interested. Esme of course clapped her hands together in happiness once she noticed that Edward seemed interested in her. She had hoped that last year, Edward had finally found his mate in Bella.

But it seemed that it wasn’t meant to be. Now this girl may be his mate, after all he didn’t feel the same bloodlust as he did with Bella. Apparently, her scent only seemed to intrigue him even more. “I would very much like to meet this girl!” Rosalie looked at their mother like she had grown another head, while Carlisle looked at his wife in amusement. He of course knew why she wanted to meet the girl.

He too hoped that Edward had finally found someone. Maybe this girl is his mate.

Suddenly a gasp flew from Alice’s lips, her eyes were fogged over and she was leaning against Jasper. Everyone turned to look at Alice, and waited for her to come back to herself. After a moment, her eyes cleared and then she looked at everyone with a frantic look. “Vampires are going to attack Bella!” Immediately everyone tense, and Edward looked at her with narrowed eyes.

“Where?”

Turning her head to look at the bronze-haired vampire, she got a wary look on her face.

“They are at the small land between us and La Push.”

Bella had planned to go to La Push after she got home, because she wanted to ask a little about the legends surrounding the reserve. For some reason a month ago, Jacob and the others on La Push were unapproachable for a week. When she called Billy Black, her father’s friend, said that Jacob was sick. She had wondered what happened, and thought it was odd when she heard that several others were ‘sick’. A little before that when she had broken up with Edward, she didn’t miss the relieved look that Billy Black had on his face.

What did La Push have against the Cullens?

Going through her thoughts, she noticed that the Cullens seemed to know the inhabitants of La Push but it certainly wasn’t on pleasant terms. This was backed up by the way Edward and Jacob glared at each other, when Edward took her to the dance at the end of last year. Running a hand through her hair, she stared at the note that was in her windshield. Lifting up the windshield wiper, and picking up the note. Brown eyes scanned the writing, and noticed she didn’t remember the handwriting.

Looking around quickly, she opened the note and read the contents. As her eyes scanned the page, she felt her breathe hitch in fear at the words. ‘James’s mate is coming to Forks to kill me!?’ On the note, Bella read that she was to come alone to meet whoever wrote this note to find out more information on Victoria. Closing her eyes, she looked at the note and sighed.

It seemed that she was going to have to change her plans once again. Crumpling the note, she threw it in the garbage bin. Not noticing the two pairs of crimson eyes looking at her from the forest. Getting in her truck, she drove off halfway before walking to her destination. Walking to the big clearing, she looked around curiously but warily.

Why did she feel as if she was doing something really stupid?

At that thought a man stepped out of the forest and she gasped. He was beautiful with short brown hair that framed his angular face. On his body were some slacks and a plain blue plaid shirt that was unbuttoned, showing the flat stomach underneath. Gracefully he walked forward, and his crimson eyes were trained on her body. For some reason those crimson eyes struck a cord in her, and her eyes widened.

“Vampire…”

The striking man looked at her with a smirk, and clapped his hands. “Wonderful observation…” Stepping forward he looked at her, and frowned. “It is a wonder that it was vampires that protected you from my mistress’s mate…I wonder what is so special about you?’ Leaning forward, he took in a deep breath and his eyes widened.

“My, you smell delicious…” Sending her a sly look, he then grinned showing all his pearly whites making Bella take a step back. “…Maybe these vampires wanted to save you for themselves…that would be a valid reason for James having to die.” Moving away from the man, she looked at him with narrowed eyes. “The Cullens don’t want to drink my blood!”

For a moment he frowned, before the smile reappeared on his face.

“Well you have some spunk…I like that in a meal.”

Dread spread through Bella’s body as she saw hunger creeping into his eyes. Gulping nervously, she then clenched her fists. “Is it true!?” Looking at her with a raised eyebrow, she decided to clarify. “I mean…is Victoria really after me!?”

He stared at her for a second, and his grin had a hint of malice in it. “Why yes actually…she is after you…and I were to take you to her, but I have changed my mind.” Sighing in relief, she then stopped as she realized something. “If you’re not taking me to Victoria…then what are you planning to do?” The malice in his smile grew, and his crimson eyes narrowed.

“I plan to kill you myself of course…it has been over two days since I last fed…I am sure that my Mistress would understand.”

Taking a few steps back, Bella watched in fear as he snapped his fingers and three other vampires appeared at his side. A look of shame appeared on the man’s face before he looked at her. “Now where are my manners…I forgot to introduce myself.” Bowing at the hip with an arm across his chest to his shoulder, he then stood straight.

“My name is Allen, and this shall be your last memory of this world.”

With another snap of his fingers, all the Vampires jumped at Bella and she released a scream. Out of the woods, the Cullens and the La Push pack rushed in and stared in horror to see that they were too late. Edward and Jacob both shot forward hoping that they make it in time. “BELLA!” Suddenly a blur of black, red, and white sliced through the four rogue vampires.

Time seemed to stand still as everyone watched as the rogues were slit diagonally from the shoulder to the waist, and then they disintegrated. “I knew something like this was going to happen.” Everyone’s attentions then snapped to the new addition to the clearing, as she stood up from her crouching position on the ground in front of Bella. Now standing, she turned in a way that everyone would see her, making gasps ring throughout the clearing. Seth, who was standing next to Jacob, was staring at her with a flushed face and awe.

“Kagome!?”

Grinning widely, she flashed her sharp canines at everyone she placed her hands on her hips. Closing one eye, she scanned the two groups and sighed. “I was wondering when you guys were going to get here…I really thought you were going to arrive too late.” Bringing her hand up, she looked apathetically at the blood covering the appendage. “Now I had to get my hands dirty.”

Flicking her hand to the side, the blood flew on the ashes of the rogue vampires. Turning to look at the last one, her pupils narrowed to slits. “I need a few words with you ickle newborn…” Instantly she was in front of him with her hand clutching him around the throat. Lifting him up from the ground, she could practically feel the shock that was going through everyone.

“Now that I have gotten rid of your goons…I am in need of information that you obviously have.”

Tightening her grasp on his throat, she smirked as she felt him try to struggle. His nails were digging into her skin, but it didn’t hurt her in the least. Actually his attempts to harm her amused her more than anything. “You might as well give up and tell me what I want to know…it is either going to be the hard way or easy way…I may even spare your life.” Crimson eyes glared at her with hatred.

“LET ME GO YOU BITCH! I WILL NEVER SELLOUT MY MISTRESS!”

Amusement was clear on her face, as she stared at the snarling vampire in her grasp. The Cullens, Bella, and the Shifters were still in shock, and could only watch as the vampire spit on down on the ground at her feet. The smirk was gone, and her eyes were completely crimson. Baring her fangs in anger, her beast’s growl rumbled through her and the others heard it. Tightening her grip, she smiled maliciously as the vampires eyes looked like they were going to pop out of his head.

“Know your place!”

Oh she knew that vampires didn’t need to breathe, but that didn’t mean that with enough pressure their eyes wouldn’t pop out of their head. “So we are going to have to do this the hard way.” With swiftness known to only supernatural beings, she stuck her hand through the vampire’s mid-section. Shock was apparent on the vampires face as he screamed in pain. A visible pink aura covered her hand and arm that was through her body.

The pure feeling that was radiating off of it sent a chill down the Cullen’s spines as well as the La Push pack. Indifferent eyes stared down the vampire, and the slit in her eye widened. A scream ripped from the Vampire’s mouth as he instantly saw his worst nightmare. “OKAY! OKAY! I WILL TELL YOU! MY MISTRESS VICTORIA IS COMING TO KILL THAT GIRL, AND THE COVEN THAT HAD KILLED HER MATE! SHE IS CREATING AN ARMY OF NEWBORN VAMPIRES!” Kagome’s eyes widened before narrowing as she was lost in thought.

“So it is as my employers feared then…”

Bringing her attention back to the newborn in her hands, she sighed. “I am going to assume that since you haven’t said anything about when she is going to attack you don’t know?” He nodded fearfully, and looked at her pleading for her to let him go. Unfortunately, he was useless to her. Had this happened before she who she was now, he would have been spared.

“Sorry, but your usefulness has ended and my employers have asked that I dispose of you and your Mistress…”

His eyes widened in panic, but he didn’t get to say a word before he shattered into dust from the pink energy around her hand. The wind then blew the dust away, and rustled everyone’s hair and clothing in the clearing. When the remaining dust ashes were gone, Kagome turned around and stared at everyone with a stoic expression on her face. Bella couldn’t help but step forward, while staring at the other girl in awe. ‘What had just happened?’

“Kagome?”

She didn’t respond and only stared at her with half-lidded eyes. “I think that you should no stay with your bodyguards Swan.” Everyone jumped a little when they heard her voice, but then they noticed the scowl on her face. The brown-haired girl couldn’t help but compare it with Rosalie Cullen’s scowl, which the statuesque blonde always reserved for her. “Stupid girl!”

Bella flinched back at the harsh tone, and watched as Kagome glared at her. “What did you think you would accomplish by coming out here?” At this question, she tried to come up with something but Kagome lifted up her hand to cut her off. “It doesn’t matter.” Looking at the others, she placed her hands on her hips.

“Like you have just heard from our recently living friend you had better be ready to take out these newborn vampires…if this continues the humans shall begin to notice how people are disappearing.”

Flicking her hair over her shoulder with her hand, she glared at them all. “I don’t know what exactly happened, but this bitch Victoria is going to most likely try and take as many humans as she can.” Esme stepped forward along with Carlisle, their ‘children’, and the La Push pack. “Ummm…who are you dear?” Staring at the kind looking woman for a second, the miko decided that she might as well.

“My name is Kagome Taisho-Higurashi, the Princess of the Western Lands, and the heir of Taisho Corporation.”

Carlisle’s eyes widened as he heard these words leave her mouth. “You are Lord Taisho’s heir?” Everyone’s eyes snapped over to him, and a small smirk slithered onto the dark-haired beauty’s face. Nodding, she gave them all a grin and some noticed her slightly sharp canines. Billy Black rolled forward in his wheelchair, and he stared at the elder blonde vampire with a raised eyebrow.

“Since you seem to know who this person is, why don’t you enlighten us all?”

Glancing around at everyone, he gave one final look towards Kagome. She nodded and he sighed, at least he had permission now. Looking at his family, he saw that they too were curious as to who she was. “I have heard about Lord Taisho from the Volturi whom made his acquaintance many centuries ago, but had never had the honor of meeting him in person.” Kagome watched as everyone listened to him in rapt interest, and couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

‘Oh how that lovable brother of mine would enjoy this…’

“He is the ruling lord of the Youkai, or a demon in English….he is a Dog demon of immeasurable power, and has continued his reign over the other demons for a long time.” Amber eyes then looked over at Kagome, whom was still standing there with her hands on her hips. “Lord Taisho is also the founder and owner of Taisho Corporation, it had only in the recent years come to light that he was getting his younger sister ready to take over the company.” This had everyone staring at Kagome. “So you’re a demon?”

Blue eyes landed on Bella, and watched as the girl fidgeted a little under her gaze. “Yes, I am a demon though I haven’t always been one.” The brown-eyed girl bit her lip, and stepped forward. “Why did you save me?” Kagome stared down at the girl, and snorted.

“Well it wasn’t as much as me saving you as, me getting a hold on someone who has information for my mission.”

Seth, who took a step forward as well, tilted his head. “Your mission?” Nodding, she looked at all of them. “I was just given a mission earlier to destroy this newborn army before it caught too much attention, my clients have made it clear that it was important that this didn’t happen.” Edward then spoke up shocking them all.

“Who are you clients?”

Amber and Blue connected once more, and Kagome lips drew into a thin line before she sighed. Running a hand through her hair, she closed her eyes. “This was a special request from some old associates of my brother’s…” Standing up straight, she allowed her demonic traits to show through. Gasps came from everyone as her features changed a little.

Her hair was still black, but there was a streak of silver that went down the middle. The tone of her skin was a little darker, and single blue stripe on both of her cheeks. Sharp claws were on her hands, and blue stripes were on her wrists and ankles. On her shoulder was a boa-like thing that was the same color as her hair. Kagome’s eyelids looked as if she suddenly had blue eye shadow, and as she gave them a smile sharp canines were visible to all.

Brushing her hair over her shoulder, she revealed that her ears were elfin-like with a point at the tip. “This is my humanoid demon form, one that only few have seen me in.” Turning her head so she could see them all, she had a serious expression on her face. “I am going to be doing daily rounds around the entirety of this town, and so I am going to have to ask that you all either protect Swan or help me out.” Emmett raised his hand like a child in class, which earned him incredulous looks.

Gesturing for him to answer, Kagome inwardly was pleased with his actions.

“You said humanoid form…so does that mean you have some other form?”

Smirking, she nodded and a strange gleam flashed in her cat-like eyes. “Correct, I do have another form…though I would hope you would have no reason to see it.” With that, she gave them a wave. “I have to continue my rounds, once you have a plan in order…It would please me greatly if you would include me in it.” Running her eyes over everybody, she then remembered something.

“Oh and I also declare my house neutral ground, and so both anyone from La Push or the Cullens can set foot there.”

Blue eyes pinned them all to their positions, and she growled.

“In order to plan, I propose that a meeting is held at my house this Saturday at 4:00 PM.”

Without waiting for a reply, she disappeared in thin air leaving the group to their thoughts.

Finishing her rounds, Kagome stretched her arms above her head and yawned. She had covered a lot of land today, and not to mention got into a couple of fights with newborn vampires. Looking down at her outfit, she saw the many tears and cuts that littered the fabric. Pulling leafs out of her hairs, she cursed those newborns. ‘So it’s true that in their first year they are abnormally stronger than older vampires.’

Slowly pulling the dress off of her body, she stared indifferently at the scratches on her body. Making her way into her bathroom in her birthday suit, she expected to see the usual things. Unfortunately it seemed fate had placed it’s ‘Kick Me’ sign on her back once again. Baring her fangs, she narrowed her eyes on the young man in front of her.

“What are you doing in my house!?”

Well it seems that I am done with Chapter 2! I have read that many of you like the length of these chapters, and I will continue to keep them at this length if not a bit longer. Also I thank everyone who reviews and tells me what to think without being obnoxious. Speaking of obnoxious, all fellow crossover lovers if you don’t want to be bothered by a completely ignorant person (COUGHnya-chan444COUGHHaCK) then block her from your page. Despite her being told off, she still insists on trying to force her views on people. Honestly, I would much rather give up than to read her unimportant opinion.

DNM: You are correct, Kagome is not completely human. I never planned on her being completely human. XD Well an in-depth explanation on Kagome’s humanity will show up sooner or later, but I don’t particularly feel like showing flashbacks right about now. Doesn’t feel like the right moment for me to reveal that just yet! Thanks thought for the question. ^__^

DNM: Actually yes that is something that is possible, I can say that I would actually enjoy making that pairing. But we will see how the poll goes, and don’t give up hope. I just might do the pairing despite the poll.

From Haru Inuzuka: Ah crap, what a way to find out about the Cullens being Vampires!! What will happen now? How will Sesshoumaru and Kagome react? What did Alice see? Did she see this happening? Is it Victorya the Vamp creating the newborns and hunting the Cullens? It most likely is, what with her mate being killed.

DNM: Whoa! You sure have a lot of questions! 0_0 Anyway, yeah I am sure that some people were surprised about the way Kagome found out. I was trying to be a little original with it, and that was why I did that. Sesshoumaru and Kagome wouldn’t act that surprised, after all since they knew that Vampires existed it wouldn’t shock them so much. After all Sesshoumaru has to know about every supernatural race for his business. Well that will be come up a little later, don’t worry about it for now. DNM: Oh that was Seth, why he called her that? Since she was Japanese, he thought Kagome would be impressed that he researched some things about her heritage. After all I think it is sweet.

Well I didn’t like how Edward and Kagome just sort of...clicked together but I still like the whole idea :) I'm a little confused on if Kagome is a mortal or what...you might have explained that already and I'm just oblivious haha, but I'm not sure if she's still human or if she has a longer life span or whatever...so please clear that up! Great start can't wait for the next chapter!

DNM: Okay, I didn’t exactly have Edward and Kagome ‘click’ together. They are not interested in each other in that way. Edward is curious about why her scent, though it smells wonderful to him, doesn’t send him into a bloodlust like Bella’s did. Also he smells that she is different in some way from everyone else. Kagome only realizes that there is no way that they are mortals. The two are not just yet about to jump each other’s bones, because of this. I would like to build a relationship between them. Kagome isn’t completely mortal. Like before, this shall be explained later on.
