Mmm. Hello there, fellow Kingdom Hearts and Metal Gear fans. This story is a simple idea I had in the past few weeks that I have wanted to write on paper. It takes my all-time favorite characters of both worlds and a new het pairing I enjoy and combines them into a three-part fan fiction. My apologies for this prologue being short. PROFUSE apologies. The other two parts will be quite long- I promise you that.
I fair thee a warning: this tale might not seem happy, but there is a sort of dark light underlying in it. Angels, demons, Heartless, Nobodies, seeming betrayal, love, affection, and some mental breakdowns will be potential things in this story. It also kind of takes place in the world of Metal Gear Solid 4, as well as Kingdom Hearts II.
I forgot- IF YOU WANT SOLID SNAKE AS A BADASS, GET AWAY FROM THIS FIC. NOW. NOW. NOW.
I do not own Kingdom Hearts or Metal Gear Solid. This does not mean you can’t poke me with a spork for an update.
Part I: Naminé Hopes Snake Won’t Die
“How much more pain are you going to cause with that knife?” she asked quietly, reaching out and placing her hand on top of his. “To yourself, to others- to me?”
The blood dripped slowly from the wound, his face down towards the floor. He didn’t want to say. Already, he had done enough damage to the world, and the time of fate was close at hand. He could sense his brother’s presence near them all, his laughter engulfing what was left of his soul in the light. As he let his grip loosen only slightly on the knife, his voice choked. “No one wants me anymore. I’m nothing more than dust in the wind. After I fight him, I’ll simply be an empty shell- nothing left but misery and death.” His eyes turned to her, distant and void. “Why are you still here?”
Pain was all she felt for him. The fact that he was a walking time bomb and could have very well already given her the FoxDie virus was the least of her problems right now. Her other hand grabbed his chin, and she forced him to look into those tearful sky eyes. The hand trembled on the knife, her voice quivering with fear. “God damnit, David, take a look around and realize you’re not alone anymore! People are here to help you, to give you support- they’re here to love you when you’re in your moodiest times! Open your eyes!”
David could only gulp at these words of a sideline cheerleader who was now taking a motherly role at such a young age. Naminé might have certainly seemed like a gentle soul on the outside, but inside, she was a roaring lioness. Despite her outward appearance of what was now nineteen years old, the young woman held the wisdom of someone twice her age and went through much more than anyone could have ever hoped for. Maybe that was why the old soldier loved her for who she was- Naminé didn’t let age or appearance keep away from Old Snake. In fact, it seemed to attract her to him.
He loosened the grip a little more. “Help and friendship…”
“C-come on, David,” she pleaded, the other hand moving to the knife and resting it there. For what seemed like an eternity, Naminé didn’t move from her position and simply stared at the older man fearfully. The hands wove themselves around the weapon and slipped it out gently, replacing it with a warm set of fingers. The wrinkled appendages fingered them gently, the girl dropping the knife next to him and kneeling down, clutching his hand. “Don’t do this to us…”
He swallowed and choked back, “His Heartless, Naminé- it was me.”
She looked up at him, her face etched with fear. Dave was never helpless- not once in his whole time of knowing her did he ever resonate with such a hopeless air, with dejectedness that no person could possibly penetrate. Naminé took her hand and gently stroked his face. “It might have looked like you, but…”
“No, Naminé! I am his Heartless!” the voice of a broken tiger roared hatefully in response, not even bothering to listen to the individual next to him. “Look at me! Brother of light and dark my ass, I’m the one who’s created havoc! Look at me. What do you see in this sack of shit that no one else does, Naminé? Answer this question right now with a straight face!” Dave’s eyes were tear-ridden. “Answer me!”
The young Nobody cast a sad look upon the old soldier and tilted his head up. Her voice was gentle, motherly.
“I see someone prepared to give in to the inevitable, ready for their death to be bestowed upon them by the fate of the Nobodies and the Heartless. But that is merely on the outside. Inside, there is still the power of a soldier half your age, ready to still take on the world and his worst enemy known to man. It’s unsure whether you can truly beat him, but the fact is, you’re a strong man, David.” She stroked his face, gently wiping a tear from his eyes. “You just do not want to admit it anymore. You’re tired of everything.”
He bit his lip and looked sickeningly to the floor, his hands going to his stomach. “I…”
Naminé stood up, quietly clenching a fist and looking away. “I don’t understand it anymore than you do. But…”
She turned and slowly walked to the door, placing a hand on the old knob and giving a glance back at her best friend. The closest thing she had to someone so similar as her, left in the darkness of a room for the ages. Her eyes shone with tears. “I don’t want to leave you. I’ll be right outside.”
David looked up quickly as she opened the door and stepped out. “Naminé! Stop!”
Click. A locking sound.
“Well, well. Looks like it’s only you and me, brother.”
That voice. David froze and turned towards the dark corner of the room, shaking like a child in the night with a predator’s vicious smile gleaming down upon him.
Oh, no. He was here again.
“Naminé! Naminé, come back! Please!”
This first part was composed to “Colin Hopes Link will Save Them” from the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess soundtrack. A friend sent me the song, and for that I’m eternally grateful.
What has happened to Snake? He is currently being left alone in a room with his darkest fear, his Nobody of the night- his brother. The Nobdy and the Heartless- light and dark. Why? That shall be revealed in the next chapter.
Once again, profuse sorries for its shortness at first. I swear, the next chapter will be longer than this one could have ever hoped to be. Thank you for reading, and please come by soon for a new segment. –smiles contentedly-
