Nikki was walking on the pier with Cameron, her hand in his. How she loved being with him, when they were together it was like she walked on pink candy floss clouds in a land where nothing else but him and her mattered. She felt like she could do without him, but with him, she could do anything.

“Oh my God!” Nikki suddenly said. “My favorite ice cream, a single dollar!”

She pointed to the sign outside Tikki Squeeze. The line for ice cream was mega long.

“Uh..” Cameron laughed. “You go get in line, I have to go in there and tell my boss that I can't go to work tomorrow. Family trip.”

Nikki nodded. “Okay,”

Then she walked quickly to the line. She stood there and looked around a bit. Then she saw Amber walking inside Tikki Squeeze a minute after Cameron.

Nikki and Amber had been friends a few years ago, then they got into a huge fight because Amber said she was jealous of Nikki with Cameron and she was tired of always being the third wheel when she was hanging out with Nikki and Cameron, and she felt as if she was Nikki's second priority. Amber had been so mean, but Nikki realized she had been a really bad friend, but when she tried to apologize to Amber, she had just brushed her off. They hadn't talked since.

Nikki wondered what Amber's sneaky plan was this time. And then with Cameron, apparently.

“Excuse me miss!” Nikki looked up. “What flavor?”

Nikki stood in the very front of the ice cream line, wondering how she got there.

“Uhm, one mango and one vanilla please.” she said, watching the boy behind the counter fill up two cups of ice cream. She paid and walked over to a bench to wait for Cameron.

Five minutes went by, Nikki's ice cream was gone and Cameron's was melting. She threw her empty cup in the garbage and walked over to the Tikki Squeeze employees back room. She looked through the little, blurry window and saw Cameron standing across Amber. They were really close. Nikki concentrated her eyes and saw that they were kissing. Then Amber pulled back, said something and gave him a flirty smile. Nikki backed away from the door as Amber opened it. When she saw Nikki with a confused look on her face, she smiled and said, “And after all the time it took me to convince him.” Then she walked away, her flip flops clapping against her heels with every step she took across the floor.

Nikki looked inside the room, and saw Cameron looking puzzled as he looked down and rubbed his neck. Then he looked up and his eyes met Nikki's. They stood there a bit, then he figured what she had just seen.

“Nikki...” he said and walked to stand in front of her. Nikki just stood there, paralyzed. The one thing, she never would've believed Cameron would do to her was the thing he had just been doing, and she couldn't believe it.

“What were you doing?” Nikki finally said, looking disgusted. “And... and... with her...”

“Listen, it ... it was a huge mistake.” he said, grabbing her hand. “It won't happen again, ever.”

Nikki pulled her hand out of his grip. “You bet it won't.” she said and looked him straight in the eye. “It's over.”

”Come on, Nikki,” Cameron said. ”You know I'm not that kind of guy!”

”Actually,” Nikki began, snapping back at him in the most freezing tone. ”No, Cameron, I don't know that. I don't feel like I know anything about you now.”

”But you gotta listen to me, just one sec...” Cameron begged her.
”Just spare me your lies.” Nikki said, throwing his cup of melted vanilla ice cream on the floor and turned away from him, starting to walk away from him. The tears pressed behind her eyes. No, not now, Nikki thought. I gotta be strong. But the second she got home, she couldn't help it and collapsed just after she closed the door to her bedroom. And there, on the stairs to her room, she sat. Crying like a baby.

”Nikki. Pick up your phone. I need to talk...” and then Cameron's voice was cut off and replaced by mechanical a woman's voice, just as Nikki pressed the button. ”Message deleted. You have no messages.”

Nikki threw herself back in her bed, exhaling deeply. She felt extremely devastated. Hurt. Violated psychically. How could Cameron do that to her?
