"It's Barrett's turn to cook!"
Tifa's eyes widened just the slightest bit in horror, and she quickly looked at the floor so that nobody could see her distress. When someone nudged her sharply with their elbow, she glared out of the corner of her eye at the culprit. Aerith caught Tifa's reaction, and was fighting back a smile.
"What's so funny?" Tifa's voice was a hiss, whispered so nobody could hear.
Aerith leaned over so she could keep her voice low, not bothering to hide the amused glint in her eyes. "You act like Barrett cooking is a punishment."
"It is. Have you eaten anything he's made?"
"No. Why, does he burn it?"
Shaking her head, Tifa tried to think of anything that could describe his cooking. Eclectic maybe. He would take odd foods-like chocobo feet-and mix them with the most stomach turning sauces. Barrett had a penchant for mixing Tabasco with mayonnaise and making sure to pour milk into the mixture.
The man must have a stomach made of steel.
"No, it's just revolting. We won't be able to eat anything."
Aerith looked surprised, but trusted her friend's opinion on this. As she caught loud conversation about Barrett making his Tonberry Liver Specialty, she wrinkled her nose. Then she got an idea and grinned at Tifa.
"Maybe we can make our own food, and let everyone see first hand what Barrett's cooking is like."
Normally not one to punish her friends, Tifa found herself agreeing along with the plan. It would be the only way to show everyone that, out of everything Barrett was capable, cooking was not one of them.

Later that night, after many hours of throwing up her insides, Yuffie declared that if Barrett went near the fire with food in his hands again, she would personally remove his genitals with a plastic knife.
Barrett was taken out of the list of people to cook for the remainder of their trip.
