Well, I recently finished reading the Elfen Lied manga so I'm in the mood to write a fic about my favorite couple, Nyuu and Kouta! I hate Yuka, just to let y'all know... but please don't get upset if you dislike this coupling! Just don't read it if you don't!

Meanings:

~The Voice~

(This is based off the manga Elfen Lied for all of you who watched the anime because I'm not sure what the differences are in the manga and anime!)

Nyuu sat on her mat, her pink eyes fixed on Kouta as he slept. Oh, if only he knew.

'He doesn't want you...'

"Eh?" Oh no. Not her again. That voice. Lucy.

'He's lied... he's betrayed you...'

She closed her eyes tight, rubbing her temples furiously. She wasn't going to let her win.

'He loves Yuka... why would he love... a monster?"

"Stop it... stop it..." Nyuu could feel herself giving in. She shook her head slowly, her sanity slipping with every passing moment,"Leave me alone..."

'Stop struggling! Listen to me!'

"No!" The girl screamed back, thrashing her head around. She couldn't take this anymore! She was Nyuu and only Nyuu!

'No... you're... Lucy!'

Nyuu could feel tears stinging behind her eyelids, as she dug her nails deep into her scalp. The girl could feel the pain, but it was dull. It was nothing compared to the pain inside of her.

"... Nyuu?"

Suddenly, hearing that voice, Lucy disappeared. The girl opened her eyes, the tears running down her flushed cheeks. She blinked past them and there was Kouta, sitting up, studying and watching the flustered girl. "K-kouta..."

Turning over onto all fours, he crawled towards her. She could feel her face heat up as he reached out and pried her frozen hand from her scalp. The girl's eyes widened when she saw the blood under her long fingernails. He held her hand tightly in his, making her face heat up even more,"What's wrong with you, Nyuu? Why did you hurt yourself?"

The girl blinked wildly, blurting out,"Nyuu?! I didn't! Lucy did it!" When Nyuu realized what she had said, she quickly lowered her face from view. She couldn't belive she had just say that.

Kouta gave her a strange look, but he then gave her a light smile,"Lucy? Alright then, 'Lucy' please stop hurting my friend."

The girl picked up the humor in his voice, which made her smile. Nyuu lowered her other hand to her lap, but tears still stung the edges of her eyes.

The girl watched as Kouta studied her a little longer, then, releasing her hand, he placed the same hand on her pink head and gently ruffled her hair,"You're so silly sometimes, Nyuu..." She felt a slight vibrating in her throat, causing a light purr. Kouta laughed, amused, making her face heat up more,"You sound like a cat!"

Nyuu giggled sheepishly, her face warming even more. She loved Kouta because he made her feel this way. He made anything bad into something good. Her eyes softened at the thought.

Kouta rose from his knees and smiled,"Want some breakfast?"

Nyuu nodded and jumped up with him, giving a toothy smile,"Last one to the kitchen has to cook!"

She took off running. Her bare feet padded the floor as she ran down the hall, giggling as she heard Kouta's yelps.

"Hey! That's not fair!"

Nyuu sped up in pace, knowing Kouta was probably following close behind. Then, everything froze. Soon she felt as if she were no longer herself. Nyuu floated within her own mind. She looked around, panic filling her. Then she heard the voice.

"Hello, Nyuu..."

Nyuu turned around to the voice. Her eyes widened. "L-lucy..."

The woman gave a fang glinting sneer,"Didn't think you'd see me again, did you?"

Nyuu dropped to her knees, shaking and pointing out Lucy,"Y-you're not real... h-how..."

Lucy laughed darkly and walked towards her counterpart,"Not real?" she knelt down in front of her, meeting eye-to-eye, their noses almost touching,"Is this real enough for you?"

Suddenly, vectors wrapped around Nyuu's body and squeezed her tight,"Is this real enough for you, Nyuu?"

Nyuu screamed loudly as the vectors tightened around her and lifted he in the air. Sobs and labored gasps echoed throughout the darkness of her mind.

Lucy looked up from below,"Is this real enough Nyuu? IS IT?!"

Suddenly, everything froze again and all Nyuu could hear was Kouta's sweet voice,"Nyuu! Nyuu what's wrong?" filled with worry.

Everything cleared and there he was, standing in front of her and shaking her,"K-kouta..." she tried to manage a smile, but she was so weak.

"Nyuu?"

Then, she blacked out and once again, all she could hear in the darkness was Kouta's worried voice,"Nyuu! NYUU!"

3:00 p.m.

Nyuu stirred on her mat and slowly opened her eyes,"K... kouta?"

She looked around, then slowly turned on her side where she was met face-to-face with Nyuu,"Is it real enough for you, Nyuu?!"

Nyuu sat up and screamed at the top of her lungs. Kouta jumped away from the mat and stared at her in horror. Nyuu stopped and looked over at him, wasn't he Lucy just a few seconds ago?

Kouta breathed hard, still fearful,"... Nyuu?... what happened?"

Nyuu looked down at her lap, her eyes filling with tears as she said,"... my name's not Nyuu... its Lucy..." then she buried her face in her hands and sobbed. Who was she?
