Chapter one: Theres no place like home.
Alice Smith was sitting on her bed, reading. She looked up at the clock to see it said 9:45 AM. She stood up and streached, yawning a little. She put her purple ipod nano in her pocket and shoved her feet into her vans. She grabbed her wallet off her dresser and headed for the door. Just as she was reaching for the doorknob, a sharp pain exploded in her head. She let out a srangled moan before she crumpled to the ground.
When Alice first opened her eyes, all she could see was a giant blue blob. She squinted and blue blob became a fuzzy looking sky. Alice stared at it for a second before she started to look for her glasses. She found them right away and put them on. She looked around. She was lying in an alley. She froze. 'Ok.....' she thought, 'This is a bit weird......What happened to me room? Didn't pass out there? Its not like I have any brothers to drag me to an alley and play a trick..........' Confused, Alice stood up and went to the end off the alley, looking out into the street. She froze again.
She wasn't in Peoria anymore, that was certain. It looked like she had been thrown into some old-fashion, black and white movie. Except it had color. She looked around, her jaw dropping. The cars looked like metal boxes on wheels and the people were wearing vest, and bowties, and dresses, and skirts. Alice looked down at her own clothes, dark jeans and a black hoodie, and felt out of place. She was staring at one of the cars when the wall of the alley exploded behind her. She gave a little scream and whipped around only to scream again. Scar was standing there. Staring at her.
"Run girl," He said, "I don't want to hurt you."
Alice began to step back when Edward and Alphonse Elric suddenly ran through the hole and came to a stop behind Scar. She froze again. Scar shrugged when she didn't move and turned to face the Elrics. Alice was too shocked to hear what he was saying. It didn't really matter though, she already knew about his whole "Killing state alchemists in the name of God" thing. She stood frozen in the mouth of the alley.
"Its not possible...." she muttered to herself, "Not possible. Did I die? No, I'd be in heaven if I did.....Did I go crazy? Maybe.....Maybe I'm really at an asylm and I only think I'm here. That could be it. Yeah, thats probably it."
She was jolted out of her muttering when Ed yelled Al's name. She looked up to she that half of Al's armor was gone. It was still a bit of a shock to see it empty, even though she had seen it a billion times in the manga and anime. She watched as Ed and Scar began to fight again. She watched as Eds automail arm was blown to bits. She watched as Scar was about to kill Ed. Then she didn't something that shocked everyone, especially herself.
"Yo Baka!," she yelled, causeing Scar to look at her, "Why are you doing crap like this in the name of God? Do you know thats a form of dissing? Let me tell you, dissing God is not a good thing cause people like me will get angry." Alice froze, realizing what she just did. "Crap..." she muttered as Scar walked over to her.
"Why do you object?" asked Scar, comeing up to her. "If your a servant of God as well, then why do you object?!" He yelled, shoving Alice into the wall.
'Ok,' she thought, 'Definatly real...Ow'
"Tell me girl! You believe in God, right?" Alice nodded. "Then why do you object?"
"You'd have to be very stupid to think God would want you to kill innocent people. Are you sure your following God and not the Devil, or yourself?" She asked, glaring as much as she could. Scar growled and raised his arm. She shut her eyes waiting for impact but it never came. But a bullet did. It rammed itself in to the wall right next do her head. She screamed and fliched away as much as she could. Thats when Scar let her go. But instead of running away, like she was telling herself too, she sunk to her knees. She watched as Armstrong appeared, ripped off his shirt, and attacked Scar. It was over in minutes. She stared at Ed and Al, who were sitting against the wall on the other side. Thats when it began to sink in. Alice stared at the people that where supposed to only be book characters. It wasn't right.
It all hit her at once. For the first time in her life, Alice felt depressed. 'I...I'm really here, aren't I? I'll......I'll never see my family again. I'll never see my friends again. Or my dog. Or my class, or my teachers, or everyone at the library. I'll never see the library again. Or my little cousins. Or....or..Peoria ever again....' Alice let out a scream so horrible that she was shocked it came from herself. She didn't notice all the looks she was getting as she doubled over, sobbing. She started to rock back and forth, the tears pouring down her face. Suddenly a qoute from The Wizard of Oz ran threw her head. "Theres no place like home. Theres no place like home" She mentaly laughed at the irony.
She froze when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked up through her bangs to Hughes standing there, a worried look on his face.
"Miss, are you alright?" Alice shook her head without thinking. "Come on, Miss. I think it would be safer if you came with us."
Alice didn't object. She let Hughes pull her towards the cars. She looked at the Elrics for a second, to see a shocked look on Ed's face. 'Great,' she thought, 'Now I've scared the shrimp.'
