"I hate you!"
That was the last phrase she screamed out at her impatient father as she raced up the narrow staircase, tears streaming down her cheeks. Once she found her way to her bedroom through her blurry vision, she slammed the door. With blind furry, she grabbed her random belongings and stuffed them into her old and no longer used school bag.
This was one of the many fights Yuffie Kisaragi and her dad had been through, their relationship is far from broken now; it was dead. This was absolutely the last straw, even though she could not for the life of her remember what started the heated argument. All Yuffie knew was that she wanted to get as far away from this hell hole as she could.
The young girl sat up against her dull, blue colored wall and clutched her book bag close to her chest once she was done packing. She sniffled and roughly wiped away the tears and at her nose, making both feel raw. The sound of another door slamming caused the small girl nearly jump out of her skin, then the cranking of an engine followed. He was leaving and now was her chance to escape.
The teenager sneaked downstairs, dodged the crowded furniture that blocked her way, and escaped through the back door. The backyard was plain and nearly empty, the only objects taking up space were very old lawn chairs, a worn-down shed, and a multicolored bouncy ball. She scurried down the brick steps and race through the tall grass and headed towards the dense woodland located behind the shed. Yuffie squeezed past the closely together trees and ran further into the unknown.
Yuffie smacked at the branches that stood in her way. Sometimes she would forget that some of the branches and end up hitting her in the face, leaving small, almost invisible cuts on her cheeks. The tiny shrubs that laid on the floor of the woods scratched at her ankles and legs, leaving rips in her skin and reopening scabs from her past adventures in the forest.
She had been running for quite some time, not looking back and not even thinking of the consequences of this childish act. After awhile, her left side began to cramp and she had to slow her pace down as she clench her side. Now that she realized that she had been running for a good half hour, her breathing was ragged and her limbs were burning.
"I ... I need to rest." Yuffie stampered as she reached a fallen tree, that looked like it could be used as a decent bed.
She took her book bag off her slim shoulders and tossed it down to the ground. She bent her knees, hearing them pop slightly, and then unzipped the backpack and searched for she sleeping bag.
"Uh oh ..." She breathed, almost panicked. Out of everything she brought, she had forgot her sleeping bag. Though, not having a sleeping bag was the least of her problems.
Now that she ran away, what is she going to do? What if her father called the police on her? Will they be looking for her? What if monster live in the forest? She grabbed her book bag and once again held it to her chest as she softly began to sob. The scattering sounds of the forest was drowned out by her cries and she wasn't able to hear the noise of a stranger sauntering near her campsite.
Her father was right, she was a good for nothing.
"No!" Yuffie yelled out all of a sudden, the sound from her loud voice frighten nearby birds, "I am Yuffie Kisaragi! I am not afraid of anything!"
The thought of admitting her father was right for once sent a fiery hatred to her soul. She clenched her fist and teeth together tightly, attempting to think of some kind of solution for her sleeping bag problem. No way she was going back home to get it, there was too much of a risk for her running into her father again. She will then have to make due with the lousy, thin blanket she had brought just in case of emergencies. As she spread the blanket across the rough bark, a terrifying sound made her freeze in place.
A distance, not to mention hungry, sounding howl echoed throughout the forest. Okay maybe there are a few things Yuffie is afraid of, like starving wolves and dying alone. The sound of leaves crunching pounded loudly in her ears, her breathing was sped up and her blood ran twice as fast. Soon enough, she heard the low growls of a wolf pack as the group surrounded her.
"Oh no." Was she really going to die like this? Alone in the middle of no where and eaten alive by wolves?
"L.. Listen wolves, I... I don't taste very well! I'm all gamy, y'know?" Yuffie nervously explained, even in a near death experience, she will try to make some light humor out of it.
The space between Yuffie and the dangerous beasts was closing in fast, there were about four of them blocking all exits. The wolves were taking their sweet time, like they wanted to play with there food before they ate. All she could was hug herself close, close her eye, and quickly apologize to all the people she did wrong to, except her father.
Suddenly, her ears picked up the extremely loud sound of gunshots ripping through the wolves that were about to feast on her. She quickly opened her eyes and saw nothing but a red cape like thing in front of her. The cape belonged to some slender man who was strangely pale. Yuffie really did not care who her savior was but something about him piqued her interest that she could not ignore.
"Run!" The strange man warned, holding a pistol in his right hand. Two of the wolves refused to give up and violently charge towards the two. Yuffie nodded her head and dashed away from the man and the wolves. She could not help but feel somewhat bad for leaving him but he did have a weapon to protect himself. Soon enough her running ceased as she stared at the creature blocking her path. Another one of those persistant wolves!
"Oh damn ... Hey, mister!" She yelled as she turned back and headed for the man, hoping like crazy he was still there.
She stopped dead in her tracks as she saw his gun pointing straight between her eyes. Yuffie gulped as she saw the emotionless expression in his dull, red eyes. He probably was one of those psycho killers who hanged out in the woods, waiting for some unsuspecting victim to prey on. His finger rested on the trigger, just waiting for the right moment. Yuffie, again, started praying for her life.
"Get down!" He ordered, and Yuffie fastly followed his command and ducked down onto the ground with her hands covering her head.
One shot and a pathetic yelping sound escaped the wolf that was after Yuffie. It's body fell to the ground, right next to the young girl and it was severely bleeding from his forehead. Yuffie glanced at the body next to her and screeched at the sight of it laying dead. Even though the wolf wanted to kill her and eat her, she felt somewhat bad for the poor animal. She then looked back at the man who had saved her.
"Thanks ... for, um, saving me ... twice." Yuffie grinned warmly as she received a small nod from the stranger.
She had a warm, sticky feeling along her shin. Yuffie looked down at her leg, only to see a huge scratch starting from her knee going all the way down to her foot. She did not know whether she fainted from blood loss or the sight of too much blood but suddenly her world became a pitch black, dark.
Everything in her body suddenly burned in pain. Yuffie slowly exposed her eyes to the bright morning light. Unaware of her location, she glanced at her surroundings. She was laying in front of an old, spooky manor that was larger than any house she has ever seen in her life. Yuffie glanced down at her injured leg and was glad to see it was nicely bandaged. Looking up, there was a tall, wooden door directly behind her and she was bundled up in her thin blanket on the brick steps. There was a sheet of paper on the door, Yuffie ripped it away from the wood. It read:
Go Home.
"What the hell is his problem!?" Yuffie growled as she violently crumbled up the paper, "That isn't how you treat a lady!"
This was not what she would have imagined the outcome of her situation to be. She was thinking on more of the lines of the strange man taking her into his lovely home. He would have let her rest in his giant, king-sized bed with silky sheets and the sunlight would awake her. Then she would find a new set of clothes for her, and such like that.
But no. He had laid her on his back steps, with a small note saying 'Go Home'. Yuffie threw the paper across his back lawn, she ready her fist to knock rapidly on the door but as she started her first knock, the door creaked open slowly.
"Huh? Well ... I wasn't expecting that." Yuffie thought out loud. Though she took this opportunity and sneaked inside the creepy manor.
Well, that's it for chapter one. Please tell me what you all think of it and if I should continue on with the story.
