A Mermaid’s Fantasy

(This is a short story written for my friend Julia. I needed a story idea so she asked me to write a mermaid fic with her falling in love....(i won't tell it will ruin the story) anyways the character is based on her, most of the characters are based oon our friends)

Prologue

Colors of purple, blue, pink, and orange mix in the heavens, reflecting in the deep brown eyes of a lonely girl sitting upon a bluish grey rock, as she dreams of a better life. A life without a judgmental family or stupid boys that appear in every dream and thought…but then again don’t we all dream about that at one point of our lives. Waves splash against the smooth rocks causing a spray of ocean mist to fall upon her bare shoulders. With the sun still barely shinning, her skin glitter under its rays as the water beads runs down her tan skin. Her hair, lined with seashells and coral flowers falls to her waist, with the wind moving it ever so slightly.

Her chocolate eyes search the sky waiting for night and a glimpse at her forbidden dream. Feeling like Ariel from the little mermaid, she stares at the white cold sand on the beach waiting for him to show. She dreamed that one day she would find the courage to comfort him, to touch his pale, rock like skin, and glaze in his dark abandoned eyes. Her fantasy soon fled as she sees him walk out on the beach. Exactly on time, she thinks to herself recounting the many times he comes to the beach always at the same time on the same day of the week. Slowly, to not startle the calm waves, she slips into the cold water; now only eyes shone above the surface and her extensive brown hair flows around her settling on the water. Riku, she dreamily thinks to herself while watching the sea breeze blow through his spiked black hair.

“Phsst…….Phsst”…..little did the beautiful teen girl known that her best friend was watching her as she made goo-goo eyes at the hot stranger and absent-mindedly twisted her long brown locks around her finger. “Julia!” the fellow girl loudly whispers to her friend hidden behind the rocks of the ocean. Still unaware her friend was watching her carefully and making ridiculous and comical faces behind her back to see if her friend was paying attention, Julia sighs deeply trying to build up the courage to face the man she loves. The blonde slowly creeps up on her friend and being a master swimmer who’s plays with the tiger sharks, she leans close to Julia’s ear (her friend still unaware of her presence)…”who are you watching?!” the blonde whispers loudly in the brunette’s ear causing her to let out a shriek of mixed terror and shock.

Thinking quickly on her feet….or fins…Julia drags her fellow swimmer behind the smooth grey ocean rocks, as her mystery guys lifts his head in hope and stares into the black ocean, searching the shorelines for something unseen to the rest of the world.

“Julia, what are you thinking….you could’ve been caught up there staring at tall, snowy, and handsome and then what would your stepmother do or worse you sisters.” The blonde shudders dramatically while swimming deeply beneath the blue waves.

Julia looks over at her friend rolling her eyes as she glances over her appearance. The blonde had natural purple highlights probably because her mother is a witch doctor for the merpeople and her brown eyes shine lighter than her own. Both mergirls were wearing similar outfits, a bikini looking top with a black, chained choker and a naval piercing with a skull ring. “I wouldn’t of got caught if you didn’t have to us your sneaking skills and scare the life out of me, Lesi.”
