This sigh was heaved from out of chest balancing off of fair lips. Sadly shimmering eyes gazed upon the water of the lake before them looking at the reflection of the rose that looked back up at herself. This gentle breeze blew on by and thru pink quills causing them to woft into the air. A delicate gloved hand reached forward seizing a flower plunking it from the bright green grass the hedgehog female was sitting upon. She twirled it a bit by the stem part which she was grasping as softly as she could without hurting it but to keep it there in her hand. What had her in a upset daze was of coming to the harsh realization, that the one she thought was indeed her true love, wasn't... It pained her to know that the one she had always held her heart for would never be the same to her in her love's gaze ever again... Or that he wouldn't feel that much about her... If King Authur wasn't her knight in shining armor, then who was? Who would whisk her off her feet and embrace his lips to hers while holding her in his strong loving arms...? Those were the questions that plagued her mind as she sat by the lake in which she was the lady of.

Meanwhile, a dark hedgehog was walking silently in the tall forest. His red eyes gazing upon the greenery surounding him. He enjoyed those moments of tranquility, the soft scent of the woods. It was relaxing, and the black hedgehog could only benefit of it when the kingdom was calm; no wars, no problems, nothing. King Arthur had given him task to patrol the forests, and he had accepted it with hidden enthusiasm. He heard birds chirping and saw a squirrel jumping from tree to tree. He then saw he was close to the lake the Lady lived in. Why not pay her a visit? He had nothing better to do, and secretly, he enjoyed seeing her but couldn't find out exactly why.

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew on in picking up the flower from out of the maiden's hand! It took the plant carrying it over towards the woods where the dark knight was approaching from. In seeing the flower she had plucked was getting away from her, the rose a rose from her spot to rush on after it. She didn't want to lose another thing she loved today...!

Closing his eyes and halting for a moment, he wanted to hear more of the nature's small noises. When he opened his eyes, something unknown to him collided into his face! With a frutrated grunt he picked up the thing, thinking at the same time that he should have kept his mask down, he saw that it was a little flower. The knight looked at it a bit confused. When his eyes rose up from the flower, he saw her, running towards him. When she reached up to the black hedgehog, he extended his hand holding the flower to her. "I think this is yours" he said in his deep voice.

Nodding, a soft gloved hand reached forward taking it from the hand that had offered its return to her. "Yes, yes it is..." A small giggle comes to her lips. "It seems that the wind wanted it so it stole it from me!" Is what she says laughing a bit harder. Jade glistening eyes stare up at the dark male flashing him a content smile. "Thank you for catching it for me, and then returning it to me."

A light tint of pink appeared on Lancelot's cheeks when the Lady's hand brushed against his, heart accelerating. Now he really wanted his mask on his face, but that would be impolite at this moment. He bowed to her to hide his lightly flushed muzzle. "You are welcome, Lady" he tried to keep a steady and neutral voice. He then looked at her eyes, hoping the blush wouldn't return. he could not bow every time he was flushed or he would look like an idiot. And he didn't want that especially in front of her.

"So, Lancelot," The Rose began to ask with a wide happy grin stretching across her pretty muzzle. Her arms now snake behind her back as she tilts her head a little to the side. "What brings you out here?"

"It is my duty to patrol the kingdom's forests, since it is calm between us and our neighbours" he answered, trying to not get lost into her glistening emerald eyes. "And it seems I happened to come here, it's been a while that I saw you miss" Lancelot let a tiny smirk form on his face.

Fair cheeks couldn't help, but be stained with a hue of crimson when the umbregous hedgehog flashed that smirk at her! Lowering her head slightly from his gaze she got back into conversation. "It has been a while... And it's refreshing to see a familiar face..." She let out a reluctant chuckle. "It makes me feel better..."

His smirk grew wider for a second in seeing her blush. "So, anything interesting happened during that time?" He asked, crossing his arms and slightly embarrassed in trying to form a conversation.

"No..." She replied sadly remembering why she was at the lake in the first place... Now the memories of losing love plagued her mind like a virus, and it brought tears into the corners of her eyes!

Sir Lancelot grew more embarrassed and confused when he saw small tears in her beautiful eyes. Now he couldn't hide it. "...Did I say something wrong?" he mentally slapped himself for making her cry.

Rose quills swayed vigirously from side to side as she shook her head. "No... no... It's not what you said..." Was he reply as she tried to brush away her tears.

Her answer made him relax a little, but he wondered why she was all sad like that. "May I ask what makes you sad, Lady?" his gaze softened lightly.

Pink ears stood up and twitched at the answer asked towards her. Raising her head, light tears accidentally spilled over her lightly scarlet colored cheeks. "Have you ever felt like you could never love or be loved?" Is the answer she gave him only answering his question with another one.

The black hedgehog was taken aback by what she said. He felt the way she just asked him, but he didn't really want to reaveal that, did he? "Well, perhaps something similar to that..." he decided to answer that, even if it looked a bit stupid, but he had not really a choice since the Lady of the lake was waiting for his answer.

"Does it upset you and make you feel like you'll always be alone? Because that's how I feel! I want what I can never have!" Is what she also asked questioning him with another question. Her tears grew more rapid as they flowed over her already tear stained cheeks.

He really didn't like to see her cry. He did not know what to say because it could only make things worse. "Huh... yes..." he felt the embarrassment coming again. It was hard to concentrate for him when he was near her. He mentally slapped himself again for his idiotic answer.

"Then what do you do...?" Was the last of her questions as her voice lowered this time along with the heaviness of her tears. Jet eyes shimmered brightly since her tears made the shine brighter.

"Nothing, because I know it would be pointless." he murmured gazing away at the tall trees of the forest with a distant look.

The lady of the lake couldn't take it anymore! Lunging forward, she threw her arms around Lancelot hugging his body to hers. She really needed the hug! And that was not the answer she wanted to hear!

Once again taken aback, but this time by her action, Lancelot's eyes widened. His gaze went down to her as he felt the heat coming to his muzzle again. Without thinking he hugged her back and at the same time he took the oppotunity to smell her delicious scent, closing his eyes.

"I just wanna be loved..." Her lips brushed against black fur as she said that no higher than that of a whisper. "Is that too hard to ask...?" Is what she wondered a loud with her head slightly spinning from the strong scent she picked up from his body...

"Someone you know loves you..." he whispered in her ear, making her shiver.

"Really...?" Her voice was barely a whisper at that point as she felt a slow shiver coarse down her spine. "Do you know who...?" She had a thought, but it couldn't be him... Could it...?

A smirk appeared on the dark hedgehog's face as he took her chin in his hand gently to make her look at his eyes. His heart was racing, but he ignored it, he wanted to enjoy every seconds that were passing at this moment. He thought she was beyond beautiful when confused.

The Lady of the Lake felt herself drowing in the blood that was the color of the male's eyes. She felt something a new with him that she had felt with Aurthur... But it was different... That is when the Rose came to the realization: she wasn't unloved, but only found love in the wrong person! Her eyes then shimmered of something deep as she kept her gaze within his eyes. Reaching a hand upward, she set it against a pale cheek. "Would you love me, Lancelot, if you felt you could?"

"I love you with all my heart and soul." he murmured softly as he approached her, closing the space between them as he hugged her tightly against his body.

That was all she had to hear as she snaked her gloved arms around him once more holding him as closely as she could to him. She might have lost love before, but she was able to love again...

Motioning her arms to where they were now around a black neck, the rose hedgehog raised her head staring into those deep scarlet eyes once more. Then, with new found courage, she got on her tip toes pressing her lips softly against the knight's.

Lancelot felt the blush rise on his cheeks, but he didn't care. Closing his eyes he kissed back with all the passion and love he could put into it.

About a second or so of sweet embrace between the two hedgehog's liplock, the female one pulled away with a loving grin upon her features directed up at the male one. Lowering a hand, she grasped the much bigger one contained within the gaunlet he was wearing. "I've never really ventured out into the woods much, care to take me on a tour?" She asks with gentle jet orbs.

"With pleasure." letting a smile form onto his lips he kissed her cheek. And then the two hedgehogs went into the green forest hand in hand, enjoying a walk among the nature for the rest of the day.
