Authors note: My second chapter. Hopefully it will be better than my first one.

It had been three weeks since Austin had joined Team Satomi. The newcomer fitted in perfectly, it was if he was part of the team from the beginning. Sadly the team didn't get to see him often. Since he was one of the six pilots for the new position, he was constantly scheduled for interviews, and his schedule was different from the rest of the team. Despite having his cell having his cell phone number, he would hardly answer it, he was that tired. The Satomi pilots finally got to have a conversation with him.

They were in the cafeteria having their lunch when he walked in. He was carrying a paper sack that obviously had his lunch in it. The kid looked like crap, he had dark rings under his eyes, and his skin was much paler than the last time the team saw him. He opened the paper sack and took out a thermos of soup, which he began to eat.

"Hey Austin," Amy said.

"Long time no see, huh," Austin replied back.

"How are you feeling," Liz asked.

Austin laughed at that question. "Like hell," he said taking a huge gulp of soup. "I'm only getting six hours of sleep per night. I'm glad that I'm getting a normal schedule like you guys"

"You look like hell too kid," Takeshi said.

"Thanks," Austin replied with a hint of sarcasm in his voice.

"You need some sleep kid," Liz said.

" I would definitely like some," he said with more anger in his voice than he intended. Amy could see it in his face that he realized it, he then calmed down. " Sorry Liz, just a little tired, no offense to you guys."

" No problem," Liz said. She then looked up at the clock and realized that it was almost to have their daily workout. " We need to finish up with our lunches guys. Time to go to the gym."

They were at the gym underneath the Satomi headquarters. Amy was on one of the bikes, Luca was on his miniature treadmill that he had, and Liz and Takeshi were at the mat practicing their martial arts that they knew. Austin then came in. His workout attire was a a camo t-shirt and camo army shorts with a military belt. On the belt were two combat and three throwing knives. His hair was spiked slightly as well. With his with his arms and legs exposed, they revealed to show a number of scars.

"Hey Takeshi, Liz, wanna spar," he said.

"Um, sure, but why," Takeshi asked.

"Need to touch up on my technique," he said. " Since you to are skilled in martial arts I thought about going up against you two."

"Sure get some boken knives and we'll spar," Liz said.

Austin went over to a huge bucket that was in a corner of the workout room and went digging for boken knives. He eventually grabbed five that he saw were suitable enough to spar with. He put them on the loops of his belt and then walked back to were Takeshi and Liz were at. Amy thought it would be interesting so she took a break from her exersize and decided to watch.

"Free for all," Austin asked.

"Yeah," Takeshi said. They all then assumed their stances. Takeshi drew his sword boken and Austin drew two of the knife bokens one was a throwing knife, the other a melee knife.

Liz was the first one to make a move. She charged toward Takeshi and threw a jab at Takeshi, he dodged to the right jabbed his sword forward. Liz ducked and sweep kicked him, knocking Takeshi down. She was about to give blow downward to Takshi's arm but was interfered by a blur in front of her face. She turned her head the direction that the blur went and saw one of Austin's knife bokens were there.

"Don't ruin it yet," Austin said with a smile on his face, he charged toward Liz with his two melee knives in his hands. Liz was surprised that he already drew the other knife. He gave a slash at her mid-section, but she dodged it by simply stepping back. She then saw that Austin put his left melee knife away and used his left hand to grab Liz's right arm. But before a could complete it, Takeshi sword appeared in between them. Austin, with lightning reflexes, grabbed another throwing knife and threw a Takeshi which he deflected. Austin the dashed at him and gave a kick, which Takshi also deflect with his sword. He then grabbed Takeshi's right and quickly twisted it behind his back. A kick to the back of his knees and Takeshi was on the floor stunned. Austen was about to give a finishing 'stab', but the knife was knocked out of his hands from a punch from Liz. She then followed up with a kick to the stomach, causing him to crumple to the ground.

Takeshi recovered and stabbbed his sword down at Austin, the newcomer reflexively parried the attack with his knife and gave a kick forward. Takeshi stepped back to avoid he then changed his target to Liz and stabbed his sword at her. Liz rolled forward and gave a punch at Takeshi, Takeshi blocked it with his right hand and used his other hand to slash at Liz. Instead of the blade meeting Liz it met the blade of Austin's knife, another stab from his knife and Takeshi and Liz broke apart. The three now stood away from one another, taking a quick breather. A look at Austin showed the kid looking a lot better than they saw him ten minutes earlier.

"Only six hours of sleep huh," Liz said sarcastically.

Austin laughed. "I know, it doesn't seem like it, huh?"

"Yeah ,you can keep up with us kid," Takshi said.

"Probably just adrenaline," he guessed. He then went back to his fighting stance. " Let's get get started, shall we?"

Austin dashed toward them, making the two veteran pilots quickly bracing themselves for blows, but instead of blows he zoomed past them a grabbed one of his throwing knives and his other melee knife. He put them all ,including his right melee knife, and then dashed back towards them. He grabbed Takeshi's right arm and squeezed a pressure point on his wrist, causing him to drop his sword. Takeshi elbowed him in the stomach and quickly recovered his weapon for the fight.

Liz rushed over and punched at Austin, which he blocked. He then redrew his left melee knife and began to slash at Liz, which she dodged effortlessly. Not long after there was a gap between them. Austin then grabbed a throwing knife with his right hand hand and threw it at her, which she dodged. As she dodged it, Austin rushed forward and and grabbed her right hand threw behind her back, his left melee knife up to her throat. Before she could retaliate the wooden knife slid across her throat, signifying a killing blow. It was now between him and Takeshi.

" Let's go kid," Takeshi said as the two charged.

Takeshi's sword clashed with Austin's knife. While it looked like they evenly matched, Austin, in reality, was being pushed back slowly. He grabbed his final throwing knife and and threw it at him. Takeshi parried the attack, but Austin didn't use it to get attack or grabs off, but to draw his second melee knife in his left hand.

" Get ready," he said with a grin on his face. " I'm giving you my all!"

Austin's battle technique changed drastically. He was now like a tornado, constantly circling Takeshi and slashing at him. Takeshi blocked them but he was beginning to wear out.

Takeshi knew if he didn't do some offense he would be beaten by the newcomer. He paried one of Austin blows and brought his sword down. Austin barely got his knives up in time to block the blow.

Austin then did something unexpected. He threw his left melee knife at him, Takeshi had no choice but to block. Austin then grabbed Takeshi's left arm an twisted it behind his behind his back a kick to the back of his knees and he was on the the ground again, like earlier. Austin was about to give the final stab but Takeshi quickly sweep kicked him and inaccurately brought his sword down. Luckily, it hit him in the throat, which signified that Takshi was the winner.

" I'll be damned," Austin laughed, he was trying to catch his breath but the laughing was making it difficult. " I geuss my adrenaline ran out."

" Man your good kid," Liz said.

" It's just Defendu," the newcomer said getting up. " It's a army technique invented in World War ll, at least the grabs were. The knife attack were my own technique."

" Well, it's impressive, Takeshi said. " I can tell we'll be sparring again."

" Just get some sleep kid," Liz said. " That way you can be that good on the track."

Austin laughed. " I'll be sure to do that." He then walked over to one of the bikes to the left of Amy and began to work out on it. This allowed her to get a good view of Austin's right arm. It had several blue lines sticking out of it, she guessed they were veins. But his right arm didn't have as many scars as the left arm did with a closer look. Th rest of their workout was pretty quiet, afterwords they went to here Andrei's lecture over their next race.

They took their seats at the desks as Andrei got up to talk.

" Okay guys," he said. " Our first race is up against the winners of the IG-2 last year. Team Raven. They went undefeated last year."

" Impressive," Liz said.

Andrei gave a nod and pulled out his remote and turned o the projector. On it was a African-American around the age of sixteen he had brown hair, brown eyes, and was scarred from the looks of it .He was clad in black pants a white shirt and a black zip-up hoodie and white shoes. He also had five dog tags on a chain around his neck. It also showed a video of his mech fighting another team in the IG-2.

" The first and probably most dangerous on their team is Jake Hill. He has immense leadership skill's, also he was recognised as MPV lst year. His mech is designed to take damage, as well as receive it. Also it's pretty fast as well. And his technique the Raven Wing is immensely powerful. He charges all of his mechs energy to the boosters at the mech's feat, he then uses the sword on the back of his mech to slash at you, with the speed combined with the power of that sword can do devastating."

" So how do we counter it," Takeshi said eagerly.

" You have one second before the boosters reach their maximum potential, so you have to time it perfectly," he said. "Next." He then pressed the button again to show young man and girl around the age of fifteen along with blueprints their mechs. The young man, like Austin, had a tan, he had shoulder length brown hair and sharp green eyes, atleast that was what they appeared to be, his other eye had a eye patch covering it. He was wearing a green t-shirt annind pants with a red vest and green army shoes. He was covered in scars in scars as well. He also had five dog tags around his neck. The girl was the same image as the guy he showed earlier. She was tan, had long brown hair that went to her lower back, and green eyes, she didn't look anywhere near as scarred as Asher or Jake, but still, she had scars none the less. She was in a red sleeveless shirt,blue jean shorts that went to her knees ,and tennis shoes. She too, had five dog tags.

" Meet the Southerd twins," Andrei said. "Asher and Jessica. They took place with mid-field last year but since since the new position, Jessica is the mid-field and Asher will be taking defense. Their mech compliment one another apparently, what Jessica can't do wth attack she makes for in speed, and Asher ith strength. Since they've only piloted separately, I have no idea at what combinations they can do together. All I know is that Jessica uses an effective move, that is called Raven's Chain. She attaches her sword with a wire on her mech and uses it like a throwing weapon. "

He then gave his remote a final click and the pilot appeared. He looked around the same as Jake. He was the looked slightly like Austin except he was a tad shorter and more buff than Austin was, he had dirty blond hair, blue eyes, and had several scars. He was in a blue jeans and had red and gey button up collared shirt and brown boots. He, like the rest of the team had five dog tags.

" Troy Davidson," Andrei said.

" Wait a sec," Liz said. " Davidson. As in Austin's last name."

The entire team looked at Austin. He just gave a shrug. " Yeah he 's my brother what about it."

" You didn't tell us that your brother was a IGPX pilot," Takeshi said.

" Thought you'd know," he said.

" Anyway," Andrei said cutting their conversation short. He was originally defense but has move up to take the offense position. So I have now idea what techniques he can do."

" So these guys are mystery since their switching mechs."

" Correct, one about their mechs though is that all their carry swords and they carry wires for their combat."

" We'll find a way," Austin said leaning back in his seat.

" Probably. Anyway, take the rest of the day off. Tomorrow as well, we have introduction to the new season on wensday.

The Satomi pilots were at their usual hangout, which was a nice restaurant. Takeshi was enjoying a chili hot dog. Liz was eating Italian cuisine. Amy was on her laptop with a cup of tea and some sort of appetizer. Luca was on her lap, napping as usual. Austin was sipping on a Dr. Pepper, and was also on his laptop. Amy, Liz and Takeshi were all gossiping, but Austin was silent. Finally one of them decided to break his silence.

" Austin," Liz said.

" Yeah," the newcomer said.

" What, do you know about Team Raven kid," she said. "and be honest."

" What makes you sure I know anything about the team," he said.

" For one, Troy is your brother," she said. " You guys have bound to talk sometime in the past couple of years. Two, all five of you wear five dog tags, and not to mention you all are scarred."

" You got me, " he said. " There childhood friends of mine. The dogtags? We all went to bootcamp together. The scars, we like to spar, alot."

" With what, knives and swords," she asked.

" Maybe."

" You're crazy kid."

" You call it crazy. I call it genius misunderstood."

" No it's crazy kid," Takeshi said.

" They're right Austin," Amy said. " No offense to you." Luca gave a meow of agreement as well.

Austin gave a booming laugh. " I geuss your right."

Amy checked the time on her laptop. It was nearing ten o' clock. " Guy's I think it's best that we head home. We'll be needing the rest."

" Your right," Austin said rubbing his drowsy eyes. " Don't be offended but, don't bother me okay. I'm using tomorrow for R&R."

" Sure thing kid, you need it more than any of us," Takeshi said.

It was the opening ceremony for the new season and all the teams were there.

" Hello there," Benjamen Bright said through his microphone. " This is Benjamen Bright live from the opening ceremony for the IG-1!"

It was a amazing night. Crisp autumn air filled everyone's lungs, and put everyone, including Team Satomi in high spirits. And Austin looked alot better than he did two days ago. The kid looked much livelier. As did the rest of the team pilots.

Austin and Takeshi were in the usual black tuxedos, despite Austin' complaints.( He despised tucking in his shirts.) Amy was in a black dress with short sleeves, and Liz was in a blue sleeveless dress. Luca didn't have to wear anything, he was a cat.

" And the reining two time champions, it's Team Satomi." The lights then shined on the team, blinding them for a second.

" And their main rivals, Team Velshtine."

" Next, it's Team Edgeraid, reinning here in the IG-1 for seven years."

" After that, it's the aggressive Team Sledgemama!"

" Then it's Team White Snow."

" And finally it's the rookie team for this year. They went undefeated last year in the IG-2. It's Team Raven" Jake and Asher were dressed in regular Tuxedos too, like Austin and Takeshi. Jessica was dressed in a red short sleeved dress and had her long hair in a tail. Troy was in Wranglers, a khaki button up long sleeved shirt and a kahki cowboy hat, he still had on his cowboy boots.

Benjamen then walked up to Team Satomi and held his microphone up to them. " Team Satomi. Who do you look forward to the most this season.

Amy, Takeshi, and Liz a said. " Team Velshtine."

" And what about you Austin?"

" Me," the newcomer said rubbing the back of head. " Team Raven, big time."

" Is it because you'll be going up against your brother?"

" Not in the least. "

" And that that from the confident Team Satomi!" Benjamen then walked to the other pilots and began to interview them but Team Satomi basically ignored them. After the quick interviews, the seven teams were now free to move around.

Austin was having a drink while talking to Team Raven. The Satomi veterans walked up, to meet the other team.

" Ah guys," Austin said cheerfully. " I was about to go look for you. This is Team Raven, Asher, Jake, Jess, Troy, this is Amy, Liz, and Takeshi of Team Satomi."

" Greeting," Jake said as he shook their hands. " It's going to be an honor to take you on in the first race this season."

" Really," Takeshi said.

The four pilots gave them a nod. " I'd like to see what the out-come of race will be."

" Well we won't lose to you that easily," Liz said with a smirk on her face.

" We didn't expect you to, but as you guys already know, we've switched around quite a bit this year," Troy said. " Our mechs have a few secrets now."

" Secret's we can easily find out," Austin countered. " They got me on the team, remember."

" Say's you, for all we know your bluffing about finding out our secrets," Asher said.

Austin chuckled. " People always find away around my comebacks. Oh, an interesting season this will be."

" Yes it will," Jess said. " We'll be seeing you."

Team Raven walked off and vanished into the crowd. Leaving Team Satomi alone.

" Wierd group," Takeshi said.

" Like us," Austin said.

Amy giggled for a second. " Austin has a point."

" Okay, your right," Takeshi said. " We'll I'm walking off to somewhere else. You guys?"

" I'm going to be hanging out around here," Austin said.

" I guess we'll hang out with you then," Liz said.

Austin looked around to see Takeshi was nowhere in sight. " I guess so."

Takeshi looked around for the person he wanted to meet. He eventually found by the railing on the second floor. His friend and rival. Alex Cunningham.

He walked up to the railing and began to lean on it.

" New season," he said.

Cunningham cracked a grin. " Yep it's going another great one for us and our best rivals of course."

" Let's hope," he replied.

" I don't have to hope," Cunningham said. " I know it's going to be great season."

" I guess your right," Takeshi said. He then straitened himself back up. " I'll be seeing on the track."

" I'll be waiting for you."

Amy, Liz, and Austin were outside near the fountain, they were getting sick of the noise so they decided to move their conversation to outside.

" To think a week from now, we'll be against Team Raven on the track," Austin said. " Kinda surprising."

" Yeah it is," Liz said. " To think three weeks ago, you weren't in our lives."

" Small world. A little too small for my taste sometimes."

" Yeah," Amy said. " Sometimes it can be."

" Anyway, what should our strategy be against them," Austin said.

" We'll figure something out, we usually do," Liz said casually.

" Yeah this isn't the first time our team had gone through something like this," Amy said.

" Is it now," he asked.

" Yeah, we've had to come up with several strategies on the spot kid," Liz said.

" So is that what were going to do in our first race," he said.

Liz shrugged. "Either we will, or Andrei will come up with something."

" A matter of chance eh," Austin said. " I like it."

Final word: There you go the end to part 2. Kind of a dumb way to end it but I thought the next part needed more around Team Raven and their training before the race. Plz review and enjoy.
