“So Jenna’s freaking out now, huh?” Austin said as he and Sarah walked down the hallway to 4th period biology.
It was officially Friday, the night of Maddye’s party and they still had not resolved the food problem that had occurred only that morning.
Sarah shook her head. “No way near freaking out dude. She’s in full panic mode now.” She said while sighing.
Sarah and Austin entered the classroom and sat down at their shared biology table, put their notebooks on the table, and waited for the late bell to ring.
Sarah shook her head. “I just don’t know what’s gonna happen Austin. Jenna is literally thinking of making the food herself and she is a terrible cook.” She said sighing as she thought of how bad her best friend was taking this whole no caterer thing.
“Her mac & cheese is pretty good,” Austin said while staring dreamily into space.
Sarah watched her friend then rolled her eyes and turned to face her teacher as the bell rang.

“So, Taylor told me about the whole food thing for the party.” Maddye told Sarah during free period.
Sarah looked down. “Sorry. I guess it’s gotten a little out of hand but honestly, it’s not that much of a problem is it?” she asked Maddye.
Maddye tilted her head to the side and gave Sarah a look that said what-are-you-thinking-girl? “I never said it had to be perfect Sarah. You tell Jenna that okay. I’m actually starting to have second thoughts about this whole party anyways. Who ever said that you have to have a sweet 16?”
Taylor, who had just walked up next to Sarah, decided to join in on the conversation. “Second thoughts? I forbid you to have second thoughts! Jenna has worked her freaking butt off for you and you are telling me that you are having second thoughts? I must say I am quite ashamed,” she said turning around and stopping in front of her two best friends. “Besides, I wouldn’t want to be the one to tell Jenna that. She’ll never talk to you again. She didn’t talk to me for two whole weeks when I told her that I accidentally let her goldfish die. Now I have to go find Sam. See you guys later.”
Sarah and Maddye watched Taylor walk away then Sarah stopped walking and leaned against her locker. “You know she’s right Maddye. Just go along with this whole thing. I gotta go, lacrosse practice.” Sarah put her stuff in her locker then walked down the hall leaving Maddye standing there.
“This is a stupid mess,” Maddye said blowing her brunette bangs out of her eyes and kicking a locker then walked down the hall to her own locker.

Sarah sat cross-legged on her bed with her homework spread out in front of her and Jake sitting at her desk. “This is so stupid. Who came up with homework on the weekend?” she complained looking up at her younger brother who unfortunately was taller than her.
“Why don’t you just do it all on Sunday like me?” Jake asked tossing a tennis ball from hand to hand.
Sarah looked at Jake. “’Cause I have a life. Besides, I actually like to get it out of the way,” she said.
“Well that’s coming from a girl who listens to the Naked Brothers Band,” he said scoffing.
Sarah glared at him. “They’ve matured. You like Hannah Montana,” she replied checking the time on her cell phone. It was 4:30. She was supposed to go to Jenna’s house at 5:00.
Jake stared at Sarah. “I don’t like her. I just think she’s hot.”
It was Sarah’s turn to scoff. “You’re 14. You don’t know what hot is,” she told her younger brother while closing her calculus book. “You can’t even land a girlfriend.”
Sarah stood up and walked over to her closet and grabbed her jean jacket.
“Where are you going?” Jake asked standing up.
Sarah shrugged into her jacket and grabbed her cell phone. “I’m going to Jenna’s. There’s nothing to do here,” she said then walked out the door and down the stairs.
