01: Fight
Everything had to be a fight with them, from their simple conversations to their intense and often-times violent nights together. Expletives were her weapons, thrown ruthlessly at him in their darkened room, which smoldered with hate and avarice. Snarling through bared teeth, she frequently found herself wondering why she even bothered anymore.
Did it even matter?
02: Thoughtless
They both used each other thoughtlessly, caring only about themselves and their own needs. Each night was a battle, fought only for the sake of the fight.
She always lost, but that in and of itself was a victory.
03: Addiction
They spent great amounts of time together, too much time to be considered good for either of them. They both knew it, knew that they were addicted, but neither cared- the pleasure and the heady and intoxicating feeling of domination were the last shards of humanity left to them.
04: Fingernails
During their 'lovemaking' – though it could never be honestly called that -, she would often viciously rake her sharpened nails down his back, reveling in both the feeling of hot blood oozing between her fingers and the exquisite expression of agony spreading itself across his delicate features.
05: Scars
Their conversations always managed to turn into loud, vehement arguments, most of which culminated in an act of physical violence on her part. He had long ago lost count of the many scars and bruises she had given him.
06: Shatter
He, in turn, would often verbally attack her (though abuse was really a better word), his poisonous words carefully designed to shatter her emotional armor and lay bare her fragile remnants of humanity.
He knew how to break her- and she couldn't figure out how to put herself back together again.
07: Choke
She would sometimes grab him by his pale, ever-so-delicate throat, slam him into the wall, and choke him until he was forced to throw away his pride and beg for mercy. In a perverse way, she found it arousing.
08: Break
She wanted him. She wanted to see him break, to see him writhe in pain at her feet, to see him in final and complete submission to her- where he belonged.
09: Futile
She knew, though, that that day would never come- his pride was too great and his will too strong for her to ever break him, though she knew that he would someday be able to ultimately break her.
That is, unless she broke herself first.
10: Failure
She often tried to pierce him with her words and lay his quivering soul bare, as he did to her time and time again, but she was never successful. He was simply too cold, too cruel, and just too damn calculating for such a thing to ever happen. More often than not, she often found him turning her own words against her and utterly destroying her, leaving her crumpled on the floor with hot tears of both anger and shame in her eyes- tears that she would never let fall.
11: Obedience
He would often use the sickeningly charismatic power of his words to manipulate her, to force her to do things she would never have considered otherwise. She found it to be repulsive- yet she still mindlessly obeyed him.
12: Respect
In a twisted sort of way, she admired him- never before had she met someone as brilliant and cruel as herself. She found him to be someone (the only one) worthy of her attention, and, perhaps, even her respect.
She knew, though, she would never be able to win his.
13: Casual
She knew that he viewed her as nothing more than a tool- an inanimate object, something to be used once or twice, and then casually disposed of.
She wondered if, when the time came, she would be able to bear being rejected.
14: Laugh
She remembered how he had laughed at her, that time when she'd come back limping and covered in her own blood. He'd sneered insults from a distance, mocking her for her weakness, and she'd seen the hard, cruel glint in his eye that betrayed his apathy. She should have known better than to expect any sort of mercy from him.
She hadn't really expected any, but the illusion had been shattered none the less.
15: Flame
She wasn't sure what had brought her to him in the first place. She was like a moth drawn to flame- she knew that she would eventually burn in the inferno that surrounded him, but he was too alluring for her to ignore.
Hell, she wasn't even sure that she wanted to.
16: Tolerate
He could never figure out why he tolerated her. Maybe it was the feeling of dominance she gave him, or the sense of power he obtained from knowing he could easily destroy her at any moment.
It was amusing, the way she needed him.
He could tell that it bothered her, yet, even as she struggled desperately against him, she gave in at the same time.
17: Love
What troubled him was the utter irrationality of it all. There was no love – there wasn't even any affection. What there was consisted only of pain and misery, but they still sought each other out time and time again.
18: Fear
He feared her. Not consciously, not to the extent that he had feared him, before he had died, but the vestigial traces of the same terror were still there. When she clawed at his face or bit his neck, he saw a dangerous, wild hatred glinting in her eyes.
He had learned, years ago, to never underestimate his opponents.
19: Innocence
When he didn't know she was looking, she could occasionally catch a fleeting glimpse of the innocence he had lost so long ago.
She sometimes wondered what he had been like, and what could have possibly made him replace it with the coldly beautiful façade that he wore now.
20: Beautiful
Did he think she was beautiful? He wasn't sure. In terms of sheer physical attractiveness, he had seen others that easily surpassed her. She had virtually no charm whatsoever, and dressed like a cheap whore. In fact, he supposed he could call her that without straying far from the truth.
Yet he kept her, despite her lack of finer graces, if only because she made an impressive pet.
A.N.: . . . My brain . . . it is special. DX
Plz to remember that this has not been beta'd, and that concrit is love!
