The exercise was simple. Tim was blindfolded and had to defend himself from attack. It was meant to develop his other senses, to break him from relying too heavily on sight.

Simple.

Tim relaxed his shoulders and held his arms loose, ready for the attack. Dick continued to circle him but didn't come any closer. The mat transmitted the faintest vibration letting him know Dick was still moving, and the almost imperceptible sound of rustling clothing told him which way he was going. If Dick moved in closer he'd be able to smell the faint scent of sweat that clung to his clothes, and sometimes --if Dick hadn't planned ahead-- Tim would be able to taste the bite of cologne in the air.

Effective.

They'd done this so often now that Tim didn't need anything to know where Dick was. He could feel his eyes studying his stance, a long and slow look that missed nothing. Tim could hear Dick breathing, methodically even with random pauses he could never predict. There was always a smell, under the occasional sweat and cologne, that belonged solely to Dick and that he could pick out of a room of people. Sometimes Tim could even taste something in the air, something-

Dangerous.

The exercise was simple. The pause from being blindfolded and being attacked was as much to make Tim impatient as it was to allow him to adjust to the loss of sight. It's a pause that he'd noticed has been getting longer each time they play this game.
