I Just Don't Want To Miss You Tonight.
The castle rumbled, sending her flying warily on her feet, wand tightly grasped in her hand. Her simple wedding ring glimmered under the flames licking the walls outside, and she ran with determination. Remus was with Dolohov. Dolohov! Antonin Dolohov, who had bested Moody, the best Aurour of all time, for Merlin's sakes!
The moon hovered overhead, casting shadows everywhere she looked. She had to find to him, to tell him she loved him, to see him. Her need was frantic, and her heart raced with fear. She could leave him in danger.
He needed her, as much as she needed him.
She skidded around the corner, almost falling flat on her face, giant roars above her. She glanced up, shivering at the blackness of the night sky, dark, without a single glittering, golden star in sight.
Where was Remus? Was he already lying dead, silent and still, just as her dremas had predicted? He couldn't give up; they couldn't give up. Teddy needed them. For a long second, she regretted leaving her son, loving stroking his face gently before she disappeared, cloak flapping behind her. What if that was to be the last time she ever saw his face?
Tonks shook her head furiously, skidding to a stop in front of the doors of the Great Hall. Heaving, she pushed them open, sweat pouring, drip by drip, down her forehead, and onto the floor.
What she saw made her heart stop. "Remus," she breathed, watching as her husband struggled to regain his footing, wand shaking in his grasp. There was a small sratch on his face, which have had to have been made ages ago, judging by the dried blood that had healed over it.
She paced forward, wand in hand.
Dolohov cackled with glee, his dirty stirny hair falling over his face. Her heart paused in its almost-constant thumping. Merlin, no!
She must have yelled that last part outloud, because Remus's tired and weathered face was now staring back at her. "Remeus!" she called, rushing forward. He just remained looking at her, until a flash of bright green light envoloped his body.
Tonks fell to the floor, feeling a horde of tears rush down her mud-streaked cheeks. He couldn't be dead, he couldn't be. He was Remus Lupin, werewolf, Maurder, husband, friend, and a father. He had something to live for. They had Teddy, and their gurgling little boy needed them throughout his life.
She crept forward towards his limp body, drying her tears roughly with the back of her left hand, her wand shaking in her right. Clumsy, her hand shaking, she felt for a pulse, breathing heavily in the silent night air.
"God, Remus," she whispered, pressing hard on his chest. "Wake up, wake up," she blubbered out, sobbing angerily. "You have to wake up!"
A voice cackled from behind her, making her flip her head around.
And, before she knew it, that green light had killed her too. Tonks slumped forward, her head landed on top of Remus's chest, her legs at an akward angle. Her hand landed, as if by fate, ontop of his, and they looked the eternal happy couple.
Bellatrix Lestrange looked down at the pair, humming softly to herself. She clasped a hand on Dolohov's shoulder, congratulating him. He did the same to her, although nervously, his eyes widening at the sight of her.
She casted one last glance back at her mutant niece and her werewolf husband, scoffing at the sight of them, before leaving the castle.
It was just as well that they never got their happy ending.
