Hey guys (or girls, but you know what I mean). Well, this is my first EVER fan fiction, so if it is bad, I’m sorry (yeah, if you do know how I can make it better just let me know. I like to get others opinions.)

Anyways, this story is kind of a modern day twist on the traditional story Alice in Wonderland. It’s got romance, action, and mystery, plus most of the characters you know and love from the original story. The main character is a boy named Alex that just happens to be the great-grandson of our beloved Alice.

Oh, yeah, and by the way I do not own Alice in Wonderland or any of it’s characters, just to let you know. Enjoy!

Hello, my name is Alex and I am about 15 years old. I live in Charlotte, North Carolina with my mother and father. I lived a normal life as any average 10th grade teenager would. Or at least, I thought my life was normal.

Not too long ago my mother received news that my great-grandmother, Alice, had requested for me to come and visit her, my aunt, Clearese, and my uncle, Marcus in London. Not that I wasn’t happy to go, it was just that I had only meet my great-grandmother Alice once before in my life, and if you ask me she is a little bit of a physco.

She kept telling me of all these stories about her “wonderland” or whatever you want to call that place. It was really weird, she kept telling me of talking cats, rabbits who thought they were always late for something, and a queen that for some reason wanted everyone’s head cut off. Either way, maybe Alice had changed; maybe she won’t talk of the “wonderland” at all.

Suddenly, my mom’s voice cut off my train of thought. “Sweetie, the plane is boarding now. You should probably go.” She said in an oddly pleasant voice while smiling sweetly.

I nodded and gave my mom a quick hug and whispered her my goodbye. Then I turned around to board the plane.

When I got on the plane I took a good look around. Most of the seats were filled and it looked like I was one of the last passengers to board. I soon found a seat by a old woman who looked so pale I was afraid that she might have just died right there on the spot. It made me jump when I saw the old lady open her eyes and look up at me.

“Sit here if you want. I don’t bite.” She said making eye contact with me.

“Okay,” I said sitting down, “ Thank you.”

It wasn’t long until the plane finally took off. It wasn’t long before I considered the fact that I might actually regret this trip more than I originally thought. It wasn’t long until my most insane adventure began.

By the time I arrived in London it was morning. The lady sitting next to me had been sleeping the whole way, or at least I hoped like hell that she was and not dead. I was relieved that when the plane stopped she sat up to gather her things she had brought on board with her.

Soon I was able to finally get off the plane and go claim all my belongings. My mother had told me that when I arrived that was the first thing I was to do. Then I was to wait for either my aunt or uncle, but then again, my mother was extremely timid about letting come to London, so I am really surprised that she didn’t make wear a bright orange vest.

I had to wait about a twenty minutes before I finally saw my aunt, which really isn’t surprising because ironically enough, she was wearing a bright orange vest.

“Hey there, Alex,” she sang as she approached me, “ how are you doing? I hope you are well.”

“I’m good,” I said feeling really awkward answering to her oh-so-pleasant English accent with a voice that practically said “why the hell am I here?” She didn’t seem to mind it though; she just smiled kindly and helped me carry my luggage out to the cab.

On our way to the house I spent most of my time wondering what exactly is going to be happening while I was here in London. I was pretty sure Aunt Clearese was trying to make conversation with me, but after a while I think that she gave up.

When we reached the house I was astonished. It was huge. I mean, I had seen houses as big as this in one of those really high-class neighborhoods, but I never thought I would be living in one.

When I entered the house my Uncle Marcus greeted me warmly. He gave me a full tour of the house and helped me carry my bags up to my room, which just so happened to be on the 2nd floor.

“So do you like it here?” Uncle Marcus said setting one of my bas onto a queen sized bed.

“Yeah, so far this place is better than I imagined.” I said trying to leave out the fact that I had tried really hard not to imagine this place.

Uncle Marcus gave me a look that I couldn’t read if my life depended on it. “Listen, Alex, I know that your great grandmother left quite the impression on you the last visit you had with her, but you can’t let that wear down your experience here now.” He said obviously trying to make me feel a little bit better.

“So she told me one little screwed up story? She is my grandmother, and I am not going to let that one little story ruin my relationship with her. After all, she can’t be as insane now as she was then, I mean for all I know she could be over that whole “wonderland” thing.”

He gave me a look of concern and said, “Just don’t bring up the wonderland around her, okay?” and then left.

So much for that piece of advise. It wasn’t long before I got to see my great grandmother. She had gotten Uncle Marcus to ask me to come to her room. When I entered her room I first thought that the reason she called me in here was just so that we could catch up on things, but there were other things on her mind.

“Alex,” she said as I sat down on the couch beside her, “do you know why I asked you to some here?”

“So that I could visit you.” I said hoping that I had said the correct answer.

“Well, yes, but I have another reason”, she said sending me to my imaginary demise, “Alex, from what I have heard about you, you and I are a lot alike.”

After she said that she stopped to look out the window as some sort of dramatic pause.

“With that being said,” she continued, “ you and I both know that I am getting older and my time here is slowly approaching an end. That is why I must ask one favor of you Alex.” Her eyes slowly moved to connect with mine. “ I want to give you the wonderland, you remember, the one I told you about years ago. When I die the wonderland will disappear and I don’t want that to happen and, Alex, I know that you are just the person to be able to sustain the wonderland.”

I was furious. I immediately stood up and marched out of the room giving a stern “no” as I shut the door behind me. Then I kept walking, and soon I had marched my way all the way to the garden out back.

“ I can’t believe it!” I said venting my angry aloud.” She calls me all the way to London to give me something that has never existed. What has gotten into her? No wonder she is dying, she is insane and there is no doubt about that! Is she mad?”

“ A better question would be, are you mad?” A voice from the tree behind me called out.

I turned around, shocked by the sound, and what I saw was no less shocking. I couldn’t believe my eyes.

It was the Cheshire cat.

“Who knows, maybe we are all mad.”
