A comet streaked overhead of a group of green pikmin (their skin has various shades of green) hunting in the canyon lands. A flower green commented, “Looks like it’ll land in the basin. We’ll be careful to avoid there.”

“Why Torkanbrand?” asked a leaf green, “It would be interesting to see.”

“Because, Heath, all the prey will have been scared away,” the leader, Torkanbrand, explained patiently.

“Yeah, but the fallen-star might be made of valuable material that we could retrieve,” argued Heath.

“All in favor of taking a look?” Torkanbrand called out. A little less than three quarters of the pikmin raised their hands. “Then let’s take a look,” said Torkanbrand resignedly. As the group of greens headed for the basin, Torkanbrand hissed, “Prepare yourselves.” Heath carefully grabbed his spear tipped with part of a rose thorn and braced himself for battle. A group of reds appeared over the ridge and Heath relaxed. The greens and the reds were on good terms.

“What brings you here, Coalheart Runm?” called out Torkanbrand.

“Looking for the fallen-star,” said the leader of the red group.

“There it is!” yelled Heath.

The reds and greens looked into the basin, and what they saw was beyond horrible. Strange groinks and dirigibugs covered every millimeter of space. Then, a groink blasted a fireball at the pikmin. Almost immediately afterwards, a dirigibug released a bolt of electricity. Amid the chaos that followed, Heath heard Torkanbrand issue a single command, “Retreat!” As fires burned and electricity crackled, Heath did the one thing that made sense: he ran for his life.
