Finding love.

Seeing everyone around him paired up,

Trunks begins to question love.

What will he learn on his journey

To finding the girl of his dreams?

Will he find her?

Can true love be sought?

Or will she find him?

Chapter 1; Goten's idea.

Love; such a simple word that held such depth.

Like a plain china cup filled with clear water that appears normal at first glance, but upon peering inside reveals an endless chasm of water of which there seems no end.

A bottomless cup.

Some people's cups are overflowing - filled to the brim with love.

Those people are happy.

Other people, lonely people, have empty cups with not a single drop of love.

And then there are those that believe their cups to be full or empty but on second looks are something quite different.

Was his cup empty or full?

He had love. His parents and his friends.

But not love.

Not that blaringly painful, choking - I can't breathe without you - love. Yet at the same time wondrous - beautiful - I see the world through tinted glasses love.

How could love be two opposite ends of a spectrum?

Did he even want that type of love?

Trunks didn't know. Yet sometimes he wondered just what it would be like to have someone who fitted together with him perfectly. He would look at his mother and father; at their complicated but passionate relationship. At his friend Goten and his girlfriend Valese and their young exuberant hyperness. And he would begin to wonder if he was missing out, if being without love he was half a person. But no matter how much he wondered or cared, Trunks was not about to settle down with someone just for the sake of settling down. He wasn’t as if he didn’t get plenty of attention from girls after all – being President of Capsule Corp only helped in the manner. Then again, getting hit on by girls hoping to forward their career at Capsule Corp, or gold-diggers who saw him as their easy way in life wasn’t really what Trunks imagined “love” to be like. He even, in one of his daydream moments, tempted the idea of dating Pan – one of his oldest friends’ daughter. But he bypassed this idea almost as soon as it appeared. Dating his friend’s daughter would only ask for trouble especially if he was just going to do it for the sake of it. And besides, Pan was way too young for him; it just felt wrong to have lustful thoughts about her and at times they almost sickened him. She was almost like a younger sister to him. No, if Trunks was going to find love it wouldn’t be with Pan.

It was these types of thoughts that were drifting around his head as he flew home. He preferred flying to taking one of his mother - Bulma’s many flying cars partly due to hating being stuck in rush hour traffic, and partly to feeling that driving was way too slow. The way the wind rushed through his purple hair and his heavy work clothes as he skirted above the clouds was a feeling he couldn’t resist. Before long, he could see the tall branches of the poplar trees below him indicating that he was reaching the outskirts of his home.

“Home finally.” Trunks sighed as he landed, hurrying to pull his arms out of his brown suit jacket that he was forced to wear to work. He really couldn’t stand the mundane normality of being a working man but his father had decided now that he was 22 if he wasn’t to spend his whole time training then he could at least “make himself useful” and do a 9-5 shift. It frustrated him that his sister Bra could wrap his father around her little finger and hence get away with doing nothing but shopping all day, but as Bulma told him – “One day Bra will be 18 too and she’ll have to get a job too, don’t be selfish and let her enjoy her childhood Trunks.”. Trunks didn’t have the heart to argue and remind his mother that his childhood had been spent fighting aliens from other planets and saving the world. At least when he was busy “saving the world” though, life had been interesting. Now it was just wake up – work – go home – sleep – repeat. Today Trunks decided he would do something ever so slightly different and visit his old childhood friend Goten.

By-passing the door and climbing through his open bedroom window, Trunks hurried to slip into his more comfortable everyday clothes; blank baggy trousers, black top with the Capsule Corp logo and his favourite golden boots. All this in a brief two minutes, and he was out flying again toward Goten’s house. Unsurprisingly it didn’t take long before he was returning to the ground to knock on Goten’s door.

“Ah, Trunks!” Gohon; Goten’s brother opened the door. Brushing his glasses on his jacket he stood to one side to let Trunk’s through. No doubt Gohon was visiting his relatives today too – normally he could be found in his house with Videl with his daughter Pan.

“Goten is in his room.” Gohon guessed Trunk’s reason for visiting without Trunks even having to say anything.

“Thanks!” Trunks grinned, his smile lighting up his face as he passed Gohon and continued on to Goten’s bedroom.

“Goten!” Trunks knocked on Goten’s bedroom door before entering.

“Yo, Trunks!” Goten was lying on his bed propped up by pillows, with his hands behind his head as he flicked through tv channels. “Come sit down” He budged up making room for Trunks to perch on the end of his bed. Trunks took his usual quick scan look around his friend’s bedroom.

“I see things haven’t changed at all!” Trunks took note of Goten’s messy desk that was covered with paper and empty cans of cola, his overflowing bin of god new what, and his rumpled clothes on the floor.

“I’ll clean it up before Valese gets here, don’t worry.” Goten grinned, ruffling his black spiky hair with his hand before placing the remote controller he had been using to flick through tv channels to one side.

Trunk’s face dropped.”Oh, Valese is coming round?” He asked, trying to hide his disappointment at not being able to spend time with Goten alone. Unfortunately unlike his father, Trunks had never been good at masking his emotions.

“We need to get you a girl!” Goten suddenly sat up, his mind now completely off the tv and on Trunks. “That way you can double date with me and Valese and we could spend more time together!” Goten slapped Trunks friendly on the back.

“Aw, I don’t know Goten. There’s just not anyone out there who takes my fancy really. The only girls I know are the ones at work and they are just so…so” Trunks struggled with words to describe the lack of emotions he felt for the girls working at Capsule Corp.

“No worries. I’m sure Valese has a friend we can set you up with buddy. If she’s anything like Valese, you’ll like her right?” Goten grinned cheekily nudging Trunks playfully in the ribs with his elbow. Trunks attempted a grin back. He didn’t have the heart to tell Goten that Valese was just too quiet, and boring and well just “bleh” for his liking. He wanted a girl with charater, spirit, but who was quiet at the same time. Was that even possible? Oh, and she had to be killer hot too. Trunks began daydreaming about his fantasy perfect girl.

In his head, a girl slightly shorter than him appeared. She was curvy in all the right places – an hourglass figure with boobs to die for. Her hair was long and wavy – he wasn’t sure what colour. He quite like the idea of a red-head but associated redheads with fiery personalities; what with his mother, father and sister he didn’t think he could deal with a temperamental girlfriend. His fantasy girl changed to have blonde hair. But with that change, he began to imagine a ditsy material blonde. Mm, brunette it is then he thought. With blue? Brown? No, green eyes! And long gorgeous legs…. a curvy bum…

“Earth to Trunks?! You better not be daydreaming about Valese, dude!” Goten snapped Trunks out of his fantasies.

“Ah, no” Trunks blushed. “Just um, was imagining what Valese’s girlfriend looks like.” Trunk’s lied, hoping beyond hopes that his blind date would turn out to look like the girl of his dreams.

“So, it’s sorted then? This Saturday, 5pm – be here and will go out. There is a good film out at the moment – gory horror – perfect for a first date right?” Goten chuckled.

“Yeah, be seeing you then.” Trunks got up to go, hearing a car pulling into the drive way – he guessed it was Valese.

“Yeah, see ya Saturday! Go careful” Goten waved goodbye.

Trunks left, thoughts filling his mind of his date for Saturday. What would she be like? Would she like him? Would he like her? What should he wear? Should he try and kiss her? Would that be too quick? What if he didn’t like her and she tied to kiss him?! So many questions attacked Trunk’s mind as he flew back home. It wasn’t until he was climbing through his bedroom window that he realised that tomorrow was Saturday.
