I'm Incredibly sorry about this to all the fans of the previous version. I am the true author though yes it was published by who was a friend, almost sister to me, but it seem time has changed that. Well I'm rewriting this because she changed alot of my original text and frankly her editing left alot to be disired. To all new readers it picks up at the beginning so don't worry about that.
Now Comes the Night
Chapter One: Once in the Night
A man in a dark cloak moved quickly through the foggy street of old farmhouses. He turned down another road this one blacker than the last. Moving faster than before, he made his way to the end of the road, where a large dark house stood deep in the fog. As he walked through the yard his hood fell from his head and his white blonde hair fell to the small of his back. He looked to be no older than fifteen and his slender nose and fair complexion seemed to glow in the dim light.
There was a faint light streaming from a first floor window. He reached and knocked lightly on the door. It opened slightly to show a fragment of a dark and sinister girl only years older than he. She threw the door open, shouting, "Lucius!", and allowing him to pass in to the house. "Is Narcissa home?" Lucius asked, casting his cloak aside.
"Yes, she's in her room," the older girl scoffed, hanging his cloak in the closet. "She seems to have been quite upset, thinking that you wouldn't come back." she continued.
"Thank you... Bellatrix," Lucius called as he climbed the stairs to the second floor bedrooms. A faint flicker of light illuminated from under the door to his left. He knocked hastily on the door. It opened to show a tear stricken girl of the same age. She squealed and threw her arms around Lucius.
"I thought you wouldn't come back," she sobbed.
"You knew I'd come back, Narcissa. You were just upset because of what Bellatrix was saying, weren't you?"
"Well, yes. But, we're sisters; I had to think she was telling the truth." She cryed hoping he didn’t mind the wet spot now forming on his shirt.
"Not always," laughed Lucius, hugging her tighter to his chest "I only trust her because she's your sister."
"I'm sorry! I just don't know what to expect when you go on these damned missions. I sometimes expect you not to come home at all, or to be thrown into Azkaban."
"One moment, I think someone else wants to hear this as well." Lucius said, pulling his wand out of the cane he had held loosely in one hand . He reached for the doorknob, flung the door open and pointed at the other boy's throat.
"It's only me, Lucius." murmured the boy looking at Lucius’s wand, standing in the doorway. He wasn’t much younger than Lucius; his black, greasy hair fell in a curtain around his dark, shallow face and long, hooked nose.
"Severus Snape," Lucius sighed as he lowered his wand.
"I've come to see what's going on," Severus sneered, rolling his eyes as if Lucius should have already known that, "I just wanted to see if the rumor of your return was true."
"Of course." Lucius scoffed back, his tone suggesting his want to hurt the boy.
"At least let me in." Snape sneered pushing past Lucius. "Well, are you a Death Eater yet?"
"No! That's not why I do these missions for the Dark Lord, it's only because my father wants me to," Lucius replied, taking a seat next to Narcissa, who had given up trying to see who was there and decided to sit down on the foot of her bed.
"I might have to do the same," Narcissa said, frowning. "You did know, Bella actually wants to be a Death Eater and be in the presence of the Dark Lord."
"Then Bellatrix is a smart girl and the Dark Lord would be proud to have such a devoted young follower," Snape drawled, looking horribly bored.
"I just don't want to become like Sirius or Potter, cast out by their families." Narcissa shuddered. "That's just depressing to think about!"
A knock sounded on the door and an ecstatic Bellatrix rushed into the room. "London, Cissy! We're moving to London!" the elder girl exclaimed, breathing heavily. "Right by Lucius's house!" She had all eyes on her now.
"Who told you this?" Narcissa questioned.
"Mother told me; she said, 'I'm tired of living in this Muggle dunghill,' and made Father buy a new house in London!" Bellatirx continued.
"Is this true, a fact? We must have your mother confirm this." Severus said, walking towards the door.
"He's right. We must." Lucius seconded. They walked out to the hall and then down the stairs. They saw Mrs. Black by the door with bags in her hands.
"S-s-so it's true, Mother? What Bella said?" Narcissa asked timid and shaking with excitement.
"Yes, Narcissa, it is indeed." said a voice from behind her that she didn't know. She turned slowly to see a man who skin was grey in color, his nose was that similar to a snakes, and his eyes were blood red with midnight black slits in the place of pupils.
"Master," both Lucius and Severus said in unison, bowing, as Bellatrix let out a gasp of excitement.
"Greetings Lucius, Severus, Narcissa, and, ah, you must be the young Bellatrix," he said, nodding his head in greeting to each of them. "I had not known that you were all good friends or else I would have introduced myself earlier. I am the Dark Lord, Lord Voldemort." At this Bellatrix and Narcissa curtsied to him.
"We are moving because the Ministry is searching for Death Eaters in this are and might find is supicious that Ministry workers would live in this Muggle dunghill," Mrs. Black said. "That and because there are four Death Eaters in the family."
"But, mother, only father and you are Death Eaters." interjected Bellatrix.
"Not any more," the Dark Lord replied, pulling out his wand. "Hold out your left arms, you girls as well." He took hold of Lucius' arm and brought the tip of it onto Lucius' skin, whispering, "Morsmordre."A black mark appeared in the shape of a skull with a snake coming out of the mouth. He did the same to Severus, Bellatrix, and Narcissa. "The mark will burn every time I need you, but do not come during school. Dumbledore would be suspicious if four students went missing every so often, he is the worst thing to every happen to Hogwarts." the Dark Lord informed them.
"I think we should be leaving now." Mrs. Black said.
"But we haven't even packed yet, mother." Bellatrix said, starting at the Dark Mark on her arm.
"There is no need," the Dark Lord said, "Your things have been transferred to your new home." Then without another word, the Dark Lord disapparated.
"Grab onto my arm and do not let go." Mrs. Black said.
"Mother what about father, and Andie?" Narcissa asked.
"They are already at the new house." Mrs. Black replied with a sneer. "We wouldn't have wanted Andromeda here while the Dark Lord was, would we." They all grabbed onto her arms she turned. Struggling not to let go, Lucius shut his eyes as they began to apparate. He felt as though he was being compacted to fit into a trunk. He felt ground under his feet and let go of Mrs. Black's arm.
He found himself inside a beautiful manor house much like his own. It was three stories with a narrow front hall and a staircase right in front of the door; a door to the right led into the living and dinning room; a passage by the front hall closet led to the kitchen, the only room he would never see because they had house-elf’s by the dozen that did that sort of work; the bathroom at the beginning of the hall so you wouldn't have to enter the kitchen; a hall that led to the family room; the unseen washroom; and an extra bedroom to the left of the hall. "Wow, this is a much nicer house than our old one!" Bellatrix exclaimed.
"You had better go and find your rooms," Mrs. Black called walking away.
"Lucius, Severus, hurry up!" Narcissa said, climbing up the stairs in a mad rush to stak out the only part of her home she knew she could find comfort.
Lucius began to climb the stairs after Narcissa. The upper story of the house had a narrow hall, four bedrooms, the master bedroom had a walk-in closet and large bathroom, a linen closet and a long bathroom. Narcissa's room was the first to the left, Bellatrix's was down the hall and to the right, and Andromeda's was straight at the end of the halll next to Bellatrix's. The floors were made of wood and there were chandeliers hanging everywhere. He entered Narcissa's room which was painted a cool grey; the bed was against the left wall and extended to the center of the room, a vanity was left of the bed, the dresser to the right, and the desk was right next to the door leaving ample space for the sofa and chairs she know possessed. "This house is amazing." Narcissa said breathlessly. "I can't believe this, it's everything that I've ever dreamed of, and you live just down the street, don't you?" Just then Severus walked in and sat down on the chair in front of the vanity looking as though he was about to die.
"Lily's going to kill me if she ever finds out about the Dark Mark." he said somberly.
"Then, don't show it to her and she'll never know. She's a mud-blood so she won't know much about it, will she?" Lucius questioned in an acidic tone as if the mere presence of the boy annoyed him.
"Oh, stop fighting. It's just about dinnertime, isn't it?" Narcissa asked. "Who's staying over? Won't it take you forever to get home, Severus?"
"My mother said that since I left she didn't want me to come home 'till after dinnertime tomorrow." Severus replied, looking rather depressed.
"I don't want to go home tonight, so, I might as well stay." Lucius told her, sitting down on her bed.
"Good. I'll go tell mother that both of you will be staying." Narcissa said, galloped out of the room.
"What now?" Lucius asked the other boy.
"I really don't know. I always thought that we could just quit when we got bored. Now, we have to keep going with it." He replied picking at the bristles of Narcissa’s hair brush.
"I'd rather be a blood traitor than be on his side. I guess we'll have to go along with it until either he's dead or we are, we'll have to act like we hate the world," Lucius said, playing with a quill he found.
"We'll need to stick together then, Bellatrix included," Severus replied.
Narcissa came back about ten minutes later. "You'll be sharing the guest room downstairs. Dinner will be at five o'clock and then we can talk until we fall asleep," she told them, looking depressed.
"Cissy, what's wrong?" Lucius asked, getting to his feet.
"It's just that I really don't want to go through with this, I mean, Bella thinks this is kind of great and Andie isn't a Death Eater so she w-won't k-know." the girl cried.
"Cissy, please, calm down. You still have me and Severus. I don't plan on leaving you for anything." Lucius pulled her into a hug and led her to the bed were he sat down with her.
"H-h-how do I k-know your n-n-not lying?" she questioned him between sobs.
"I would never dream of telling you a lie that serious, never" he replied and she began to calm down slightly. "We need to act like we really think this is the best thing that ever happened to us, then, we'll be able to keep ourselves out of any trouble. Okay, so that way we can stay together."
"He's right. We need to act out the role, we can't back out now." Severus said, sitting down next to them.
"What about Bella? Is she included?" the tearstricken girl.
"Yes, she's included." Lucius reassured her. "When did you say dinner was again?"
Narcissa jumped to her feet, saying, "Oh, I almost forgot. We should wash up now."
