Chapter 3: A Slayer Fondness

Glancing at her front door Buffy smiled. She turned back, to face her counterpart as they stood in the shadow of the large tree outside of Buffy’s house. The moon snipped through the branches, causing shade and moonlight to dance across Faith’s features.

“I had a real good time tonight” Faith whispered suddenly, causing Buffy to laugh softly.

“Well nothing could beat a slime demon as a guest on your first real date” Buffy joked back, caressing Faith’s cheek with her calloused thumb. Faith ignored the thumb on her cheek; she looked past everything, and solely stared into Buffy’s eyes intently.

“No, I’m serious B, I love being with you,” Faith said, she moved in slowly, her breath dancing across Buffy’s face. The blonde glanced at the ground beneath her; she couldn’t hide the smile that was filtering onto her pretty features.

“Gee, you really know how to make a gal weak at the knees” Buffy said quietly, blushing. Faith reached forward with both of her hands and placed the palms either side of Buffy’s face; she lifted it so that they were looking at each other once more, eye to eye slayer to slayer.

Faith dazzled a wild smile, her eyes half lidded and searching every centimetre of Buffy’s face, every pore and pastel of blush, finally falling onto her partially open lips. It was Faith’s turn to smile.

“I try my hardest,” she leant in and took Buffy’s lips with her own, so softly, so un-Faith-like, “when it comes to you.” She breathed, finally pulling back for a moment.

Buffy felt a hot shudder flip down her back. The warmth coming from Faith melted into her. It sparked something inside of her, something primal.

She leant in this time and took Faith off guard; Buffy pressed Faith backwards against the bark of the tree, fuelled by the electric feeling she had received by having someone feel so strongly about her; the power that ebbed between them sung, it buzzed and crackled like a volt whip, setting both of their desires on fire. Buffy kissed Faith all the while as she pushed her back, her slayer power helping supremely to manoeuvre a sudden lusty slam. Faith wasn’t used to being dominated, but as Buffy kissed her with a fire she’d never seen the blonde portray before, she decided that maybe it didn’t matter so much.

As they kissed, Faith ran her hands down Buffy’s sides, grappling her fingers every now and then over whatever they landed upon. After a moment, they landed at the hem of Buffy’s shirt; Faith pressed her fingers onto the blonde’s flesh, at the base of her back; the hem flap of the shirt tickling her knuckles. Abruptly, Buffy stepped back, as if pressing that particular spot on her flesh had caused some kind of release activation. Wiping her lips, she flashed Faith a quick smile, her cheeks terribly flushed.

“I better go inside, it’s way late” Buffy fobbed in a jumble of words, as if she were just making up an excuse to leave. She was completely out of breath. Faith narrowed her eyes, confused.

“Buffy, have I done-” Faith began, but Buffy cut her off fervently.

“No! No,” Buffy stepped forward and kissed Faith lightly on the lips, “I just really, need to go in and have a shower.” Faith looked unsatisfied, but still let Buffy go. As she watched the blonde slayer walk inside of her house, she couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed. She had hoped… Well, that didn’t matter at that particular moment in time.

Willow wrapped the towel about herself tightly, and then warily glanced around as she stepped out of the bathroom. Walking quickly over to her room across the salmon pink decorated hall, she shut the door with a satisfying click, safe from her mother’s prying eyes, which would surely pick out every mark, bruise and scratch upon her porcelain skin. Her eyes always did. And with no urge to reveal what she really spent her evenings doing; such as demon slaying, witchcraft and lusting madly over Xander… Well, her mother would put a stop to her ever leaving the house again.

Wondering over to her dresser, she picked out some cartoon animal pyjamas and hurriedly put them on, anxious to get to bed; she was knackered after the battle with the slime monster. She was pretty sure she had strained something too; she would probably feel it all in the morning.

As she scooted her legs under the duvet, she reprised her day over in her mind, it flipped in thought like a coin. Thinking about Xander, mostly, of course, as not much else really managed to hold her attention. Apart from schoolwork, and Buffy. He had been such a hero earlier, he had whacked that slime beastie right off it’s feet- Well, that was a slight over exaggeration, it was probably Faith who had done the most part of the whacking and knocking the beast to the ground, but Xander had whooped with such gusto, and then made them all laugh about it afterwards. Comic relief was just as important to a battle as warriors. The red head smiled as she sank deeper under her covers, Xander was everyone’s fuel to keep on going, to keep fighting; he just had that special spark. Though something strange Willow had noticed that evening, about Faith- No, she was just being stupid, and looking into things too much again. It really didn’t matter.

Buffy knew that she was alone in the quiet home as soon as she had stepped inside; she couldn’t feel her mother’s presence in the house. She wondered casually for a moment if Joyce was out with some friends or was just working late, but then she became distracted by the urgent call of the shower, which promised a slime free bedtime and a de-stenching. Buffy dropped her bag and her coat down in her room, pausing for a moment to wander over to her window, she hesitated, and then peered out, pinching the blinds a little to see better. As she had suspected, Faith was still outside, leaning against the large tree in Buffy’s front yard. She was smoking a cigarette and looking incredibly attractive as she did so. Buffy smirked to herself.

Tapping on the glass fervently, Buffy managed to get the dark haired slayer’s attention once more. Faith watched the blonde for a moment, taking a dying drag from her smoke before flicking the stub to the ground. She cocked a brow and then gestured for Buffy to open the window.

“Come back down B.” Faith urged the blonde once the window had been opened.

Buffy leant on her elbows on the sill, balancing her weight carefully. She pouted teasingly.

“Why?” She questioned, smirking down at the brunette. Faith made a face, then laughed.

“I got something for you” she said mysteriously, her dark eyes flashing dangerously. Buffy felt a warm ripple of intrigue run through her body. Her interest was peaked.

“I’ll give it to you, if you come down now.” Faith offered, and with that the blonde was at the stairs.

“So what’s the secret?” Buffy asked on opening the door to Faith’s playful smirk. She made to step forward, then paused.

She leant in finally, and kissed Buffy gently. Then she took the blonde’s cheeks in her hands and kissed her forehead lightly.

“Goodnight B.” Faith whispered.

Buffy smiled into the spray of water as it dribbled across her face – she watched as the green slime on her skin edged slowly down her like a swarm of slugs towards the drain.

“Yuck.” She murmured as she scraped the last of it off. Then she smiled again.

She was in love.
