Sam, perched at the side of Dean’s bed, dipped the washcloth into the cool water.

At least the werewolf had only clawed Dean, no bites. The deep gashes had become infected, however. Sam wished they hadn’t taken on this hunt, but how could he deny Dean anything, especially so close to—

“Hot…” Dean shifted restlessly, struggling against his raging fever. “Guess should …get used to it…”

“Never.” Sam placed the cloth over Dean’s forehead, soothing. “Long as I’m around, nothing bad’s gonna happen to you.”

Dean’s green eyes cracked open, a glimmer of hope in them. “I believe you, Sammy.”
