"I'm not the kind of man who gives up so easily, love" Pete Wisdom used to say those words to the girls he hanged up or had random sex with. Most of times, it was true, but now… in his still young life, he had lost, in a way or another one, everyone he had ever cared about… his dad, his mother, his sister Romany, Kitty and Maureen, John was, and many of the man who had had the bad luck of serving under him – not to talk about the ones he had lost because of their betrayal, Sid first.
He tightened his dark brown eyes, gritting his fists and his teeth. As he looked at the screen again, he saw the image that Plokta, Duke of Hell, Lord of desires, was "forcing" Dracula to live, unknown to hi, and that he had allowed them to see. They were dead. He was dead. he skimmed on the image, on his body, on the ground, life gone, taken by the Vampires. He knew that it was just a dream, moreover, it was Dracula's dream (somehow, the fact that the beast wanted to see him dead made him proud; did it mean that it was afraid of him?), but, deep inside, he knew the truth; once upon a time, he used to hope for that kind of death. as he skimmed again and again on the image, he got lost in his thought, focused on the many reasons (persons) that drove him towards the idea of not suicide, because he wasn't that kind of man, but at least towards many suicidal missions (that always ended with the victory of the good guys)
Dad his dad no longer remembered his son, the old mad man, and, when he used to, he never took him in proper consideration. I'll show him who's the best one, that he had always been wrong about me. He'll never know, but it doesn't matter, because I'll do.
Romany. His little sister, like him, a spy, but, unlike him, decided to pass on the side of the devils. Last time he checked, she had been "compromised" by his X-Force (he was so proud of Sam, that the boy wanted to be like him, was that the kind of feeling that a father has towards a son?)I'll regain the trust of everyone in the community, show them which side Pete Wisdom is on, and, if you are still out there, you can bet that I'll find you, and take you down once and for all, sis.
Mum. Maureen. Kitty. John. People he loved, he cared about, people dead- and many of them, because of him. I'll show you what kind of men I really am, that I'm worth it, always been… worth of your love, care, friendship.
Syd. Just the mere name of the man he used to consider like a friend – and in few occasions, even like a father figure, drove him insane. he was a traitor, to him, his team-mates, his whole country. I'll never allow you to leave that cell, you sold us, your people, you're going to pay.
No, Peter Paul Winston Wisdom was definitely the kind of man who never gives up, mostly, not in moment like those ones, and, as he grinned at the screen, he knew it too well. Still too much to do, too many people to take down, too many friends and relatives and comrades to mourn, and, mostly, too many ladies to please….
