Sometimes, just sometimes when she watches him, she feels doubt. Not doubt in him; oh no, not at all, she couldn't ever doubt a genius such as him. No, her Puddin' was awesome, and she knew he would win against Batman some day--with his sharp intellect and amazing humour, he couldn't ever seriously loose. And the fact that he so far hadn't won didn't mean much; he was just playing, she knew that. Secretly he enjoyed this cat and mouse game, and the fact that his win hadn't come easy would only make it sweeter. And wasn't it losing the battles--but not the fight, never the fight!--that made him all the more determined to make it, next time? That spurred him on to reach higher, wider, deeper, to go just one step further? It was an inspiration he wouldn't find any other way, Harley knew that in the same way she knew that he was a great mind, a genius.

But there was something else she didn't know the same way, and sometimes, she didn't know it at all; that was when the doubts set in. They were only small and she took great care to chase them away as quickly and completely as possible, but sometimes they came back too quickly for her comfort. Times like when he pushed her away--with his body and his heart--and used her without any consideration.

Not to get her wrong; she liked that. In essence. She liked the knowledge that she was the only one he'd take something from like that, the only one who was always there for him and the only one he knew he could rely on. It gave her pleasure, this knowledge.

But sometimes, he went a little too far. Sometimes, she wondered if he put her in a dangerous situation and in the end did not care whether she made it out safe or not. Most of the time she knew that he knew what to expect of her, knew that he was aware that she could take care of herself--but sometimes... she wondered. If he knew that she was strong too, that she was intelligent too, that she could achieve something too--if he knew or cared about her enough to think about her sometimes. There were some things that clearly said that no, he did not--but she didn't want to believe that, and so she didn't.

Right?

Right. Because she always banished the doubts quickly. They had no place in her, not when she was so full of love and dedication to her Puddin'--who loved her back, in his own special way. Doubts didn't belong here.

There was no room for them, here.
