Disclaimer: I don’t own anything :) Wish I did, but alas.

A/N: Hey there ;) My first House fic, started during History class… Kinda pointless, but whatever. I also really wanted to use the line, “I never call you by accident.” Which I stole off my cousin. Haha. Hope it wasn’t too OOC. Enjoy :)

Ring ring!

Lisa Cuddy moaned as she felt herself being pulled away from her sleep. She unwillingly pulled out her arm from under the warmth of her blanket, and blindly reached for the phone.

“This better be important,” she mumbled, flinching at the coldness of the phone on her ear.

“Not really, just wanted to see if you were awake.”

Cuddy’s eyelids snapped open. “House? What the hell is wrong with you? It’s 3am!”

On the other line, Greg House smirked.

“Oh, wipe that smirk off your face,” Cuddy said irritably, seeing his expression of glee in her mind. “What do you want?”

“Wanted to talk.”

Cuddy frowned. “If you wanted to talk, why didn’t you just call Wilson?”

“Wilson’s asleep,” House said as though it was obvious.

Cuddy’s jaw dropped in disbelief. “You’re an ass,” she sighed, narrowing her eyes slightly, glaring into the darkness.

“And you’re awake,” he retorted.

“And whose fault is that?” Cuddy snapped back.

“You can’t see me right now, but I’m sticking my tongue out at you,” House replied childishly.

Cuddy was grateful that he couldn’t see the small twitch of her lips as she imagined him lying on his back, making a face at the ceiling. “What do you really want?” she asked, choosing to ignore his statement.

“To hear you breathe so I can imagine your chest moving up and down,” House said casually.

Cuddy rolled her eyes. “And this couldn’t have waited till a reasonable hour?”

“What are the chances of you not wearing a bra at a reasonable hour?” he asked.

Cuddy’s lips twitched again. “Shut up, House.”

House changed his body position to make his leg more comfortable. He tucked one hand under his head and stared at the ceiling. He heard Cuddy suppress a yawn, then a ruffle of sheets as she rolled onto her side.

“Is there anything else you wanted to say or are you high and drunk and called me either by accident or just to annoy me?” Cuddy asked tiredly, unable to prevent her eyes from closing.

“I never call you by accident,” House replied quietly.

There was a silence as Cuddy opened her eyes and smiled softly. She didn’t reply, the smile remaining on her face even though she had closed her eyes again. Neither of them said anything, each using the silence to reflect on their thoughts.

“Are you sleeping?” House said, ending the stillness.

“No, I’m breathing. Use your imagination.” Cuddy said bluntly.

“Just for me? Aww, you shouldn’t have.”

Cuddy yawned again. “Use your time wisely because I’m about to hang up on you.”

House cleared his throat. “Believe me, I am,” he said in a low voice.

Cuddy snorted. She stayed in her position, the phone now warm on her ear.

“I knew you wouldn’t hang up on me,” House’s voice drifted through the phone into her ear.

“I will,” Cuddy threatened.

“No, you won’t,” he argued. “I will before you will.”

Cuddy frowned again. “You called me first. You can’t just hang up on me-”

“Good morning, Cuddy,” House said, hanging up before Cuddy could reply.

She heard the dial tone beeping. “Good morning, House,” she whispered over the rhythmic sounds. She gently dropped the phone onto her bedside table and snuggled under her blanket.

Ring ring!

Cuddy groaned. “Hello?”

“Are you awake?”

House!

A/N: Tell me what you think ;)
