Chapter 3 “Chaos’s Dance”
A/N: Thanks all of you for the reviews I’ve been getting! It’s really encouraging to get them and get the feedback. It makes it easier to write for you all.
DISLCAIMER-SAMA!! Hello again you lawyers. This is the third chapter and guess what I’m writing? Yeah, you got that right, a disclaimer. So, listen up, again. I do not own Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy or any of the characters involved in it. But, I do own the story plot and some of the characters (aka Bethany). So eat that!
Chapter 3 “Chaos’s Dance”
“I don’t believe it!” Zidane complained, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms over his chest. He glared at everyone that was around him, attempting to get his point across to the others in the room. “We’ve already defeated Chaos! Why again?”
Squall sighed. “It’s obvious. When Tidus woke up he was freaked out beyond our imaginations. Something about Chaos, Sin, and Jecht is what he said. Though, he’s so delirious I wouldn’t know what to believe unless I saw it with my own eyes.”
“So, we might have to deal with something like Project Dissidia again?” Firiron asked exasperatedly. “When I got back, no one understood why I was gone for so long. I didn’t know what to tell them. I don’t want to go through that again.”
“And what did Mickey mean when he said that Sora might be needed again?” Cloud questioned, swirling the contents of his small glass carefully before placing the glass onto the coffee table in front of him.
Squall shrugged. “No idea, but I really disagree with the King. I don’t believe that this has anything to do with the Keyblade or Sora. It would be unwise to involve him in any of this.”
Bartz blinked confused. “Who’s Sora?” He asked, biting his bottom lip gently and slowly as if the tension was too much for him. “Also, as much as I’d love to help Cosmos, I just don’t want to leave Boco again.”
“Sora is the chosen Keyblade bearer. He’s just a kid…” Squall mumbled, his voice trailing off as he seemed to get distracted by something. “He was thrown this fate that he had no choice in…I feel for him.”
An uneasy silence settle in the room, the mood seemed to deteriorate drastically as the usual lonesome lonely loner got more quiet and distant, his mind trailing off somewhere, and the thought that maybe he should stop thinking to himself made it’s way into his always working mind. A stillness seemed to settle comfortably in the room in which all the warriors were situated.
Finally, after what seemed to be an eternity, Bartz stood and stretched. “Doesn’t matter, but whatever is happening, we needa find a way to stop it before anything really bad happens, right?”
Terra nodded in agreement. “Yes, we really should do anything in our power. We’ve done it before, so I suppose one more time won’t make any difference.”
Cloud shrugged easily. “Well, this time might be different, more difficult even, and we have to work fast.”
“We also don’t have everyone; one person can make quite the difference.” Squall muttered quietly, his mind still in left field.
“So?!” Bartz demanded, his hands clenched into overly tight fists. “We’ve done it before, we can do it again!”
Cloud narrowed his gaze easily. “It’s not as simple as that…”
“But…but…but…WHY NOT ME?!” Sora yelped in dismay, his disappointment completely evident in his shrill, squeaky voice.
Mickey covered his ears for the few moments it took for Sora to release all disappointment, and dare say it, anger. “Look, Cloud and Squall believe that this isn’t a job for you, so they requested, well not, requested isn’t the right word, more of demanded that you stay out of it.”
“But what about Tidus? What if Cloud and Squall and whoever else is in on this are wrong? W.R.O.N.G” Sora spelt out wrong, in a vain attempt to get emphasize and get his point across.
“Tidus isn’t necessarily the key point in this dark matter.” Mickey pointed out matter-of-factly. “Cloud and Squall seem to think it’s something different. Some creature known as Chaos. Supposedly, they’ve dealt with the monster before…without the help of the Keyblade.”
Sora huffed, agitated, and plopped heavily down on the couch that he had jumped up from just a few moments prior. None of it made sense to him. In the past, Sora seemed to be the only one who could save the world, and now, well now they were just denying him all together, saying that he wasn’t needed or that Sora himself would just be a burden. Blue eyes glared angrily out the frosted window. Winter had hit harshly just a few days before and it was unusual to see the usually warm and sunny Destiny Islands blanketed in a soft and beautiful layer of crystal white snow which reflected the suns usually warm rays adding a sort of reflection that could blind someone, in a manner of speaking. “Why do they always think that they have to do everything on their own? We’re friends aren’t we? Aren’t we supposed to ask for help and give it when necessary?!” Sora growled in pure annoyance.
Mickey forced a sympathetic smile in the Keyblade Wielder’s direction. “I’m sorry. Obviously there’s no swaying their decision. It’s final Sora. I did all I could.” The King of Disney Castle turned to leave, his hand resting on the front door knob. “Just don’t take any drastic action, please. It’s for your own good, I promise you.” The mouse opened the door and disappeared into winter’s fury of snowflakes and cold, harsh winds.
“Nothing drastic, huh,” Sora mused, a small smirk appearing on his face. “I wonder how different mine and King Mickey’s definition of ‘drastic’ really are…”
“I wonder if the snow will ever let up,” a bright, cheery voice chirped as she poured three glasses of steaming hot, fresh brewed hot chocolate. The young girl placed the pot of boiling liquid down on the glass table that was in front of her and clapped her hands together. “Kairi, Riku, I vote we find Sora and go and make a ton of snowmen that look like us!” Bethany, the girl who was pouring the hot chocolate smiled and picked up the whip cream, which was just freshly made and swirled it onto all three mugs, shaved some chocolate on top and then to top it all off, stuck some random cinnamon stick into the creamy and delicious smelling mixture. She smiled at her creations and pushed each mug to its respectful person. “There we go!” Bethany chimed happily, “be careful, it’s hot. This special hot coco will scorch your tongue in a heart beat!” She added, wagging her finger in warning, and then giggling cutely. “Oh! I forgot spoons! Hang on a second,” within less five seconds, the energetic girl raced back into the living room three chocolate dipped spoons. “Too bad Sora isn’t here. This would crave that crazy sweet tooth he has.” Bethany sat down gracefully and quietly, for once in her life, and crossed her left leg over her right and then pulled both up and folded them underneath herself.
“Snowmen sound like a great idea Beth.” Kairi smiled, taking a small sip of the overly chocolaty drink. “Mmm, Bethany, this is amazing. How do you do it? It melts in your mouth and makes you all warm and fuzzy inside!”
Bethany grinned widely and took a sip of her very own hot chocolate. “Well, if I told you it wouldn’t be a winter treat anymore, now would it Kairi? Sometimes things like this are better and seem to taste better if only one or few people know how it’s done.” The blonde Keyblader sighed in content and leaned back on the couch she was so gracefully perched upon. Her bright blue gaze drifted outside for a moment. “Stuff like this warms you up in the dead and frozen winter months. We anticipate this delicious, not to sound conceited, hot chocolate spring, summer and fall and then in the winter it just makes it so much more special. If we had it all the time the meaning of it would soon drift away, like drift wood in the ocean.”
“Wow Bethany such…meaningful words for once in your life!” Riku laughed, taking another sip of his hot chocolate.
Bethany shot her boyfriend a teasing glare and wagged her finger at him. “Now, now Riku let’s not be so mean.” She cooed, her voice gentle but teasing at the same time. “It’s not nice to belittle people when they made you your favourite drink on in this whole damned planet, now is it?” Her voice seemed to have an almost angelic tone to it. It made Riku’s heart pound a thousand miles per minute and his face flushed slightly at her tone.
“Shut up,” he grumbled.
Kairi paused. “Wait a second…a few chapters ago, wasn’t it summer?” She glanced around, confused. “And then in the prologue it was winter!”
Bethany and Riku glanced at each other, just as confused as Kairi was. “Uhmm,” they hummed in unison. Silence settled across the room as the three friends stared at each other and our dear authoress decided that maybe she should re-evaluate all her chapters before writing another one….
A/N: ACK!!! Ohmigosh! I did not catch that until just now!!! Ohmigosh, ohmigosh, ohmigosh… at least it added some humour… ^^;;; well…anyway…I’ll be sure to keep to the winter months this time… I didn’t want to delete Bethany’s monologue thingy. I loved it all too much…but anyway, if catch anything else like that and PM I’ll give you a cookie! I feel so embarrassed right now…but I still don’t wanna delete everything or change stuff cause that gets rid of the feel for the hot chocolate…I really like that…. (insert gloominess and all that jazz here)
