Chapter 1: The Fall of a Kingdom, A New Queen Arises
Serene was her name. She sat in what used to be a palace. It was now just scattered debris, only left to remind her of what had once been. The only people that had been left with her were some of her mother’s followers, who were now in desperate need of a leader that was stable enough to take charge and protect them while rebuilding the palace.
Serene was thirteen years old, her ice blue eyes often sparkled and her white hair not yet in the well known pigtails, but instead gracefully hung on her shoulders and went down her back to about her waist line. She herself, like her future daughter, loved to travel to the earth, but the only difference was that, it was okay. That was why she had to learn the hard way that her actions had consequences.
She had went to earth and fell in love. His name was Prince Metallia. At the time, she was unaware of what his mother was planning. That she wanted to destroy the moon kingdom and use her powers to control the earth. Only now, she had learned that she was being used. Her mother had warned her, but she was too busy to actually do anything about it. Besides, she never thought that her daughter would fall for him.
The attack wasn’t even twenty four hours ago, and the images, like a picture book, kept going through her head. Metallia suddenly appeared with her son. Along with them, a young girl waiting to become the queen of the earth, Princess Beryl. She was a timid young girl with her reddish hair pulled back. She looked about the same age as Serene. She was on the same side as Serene and had tried to help. Metallia sent her soldiers directly to the Queen and to the soldiers from the other planets who had made a pact to help protect the moon. They were all killed. Outside of the palace was where Princess Serene was left to fight. Beryl saw that she was struggling because she had to fight the one that she loved. Beryl knew her feelings, and killed the young prince.
Serene looked over only to find that the dagger was still in his back as he laid face down. The only reason that she was able to kill him was because she had caught him from behind. She took the dagger from his back and held it up. “I’m sorry it had to end this way, but when you betray and use others, there is sometimes no alternative,” she said and then placed the dagger next to him.
The young Princess, now the Queen, stood up and made sure that her eyes were dry. She had to go address the people now. She gathered her courage and thought of what to say to them as she slowly made her way to the front. There was still a porch that allowed her to over look every one. She looked over and saw many bodies scattered about the living ones who were awaiting her presence. “Every one!” she started as she tried her hardest to be confident. “I am now Queen. I know what has happened here, and I also know that every one here has an understand that this is my fault. My mother had told you about that a couple nights ago that we were getting ready for a battle. We were just caught off guard, and I promise you, that I will never let that happen again. I will never let my foolishness and selfish wants get in the way of my judgment. There was no reason for any of this, but it did happen. I am also sorry to announce that Queen Metallia now has the Silver Crystal.”
Every one stared up at her in disbelief. Her heart broke as soon as she had realized that they had lost their faith in her already. But, deep down she knew that if she were down there, and it was some one else in her position up here, that she would feel the same way. “I know you don’t believe in me any more, but please, do give me a chance. I will do what ever it takes to get that crystal back before it is used against us.”
She began to hear whispers among the crowd, but didn’t care to hear what they were. “Thank you for your attention,” she said and then walked into what was left of her palace. It was dark and empty, only reminding her that she was going to be alone in all of this. She wanted nothing more then to just collapse and let her tears fall, but there was no time for that now. She had to gather and army and she had to get the crystal back, and all before any harm was done. That basically just meant that actions had to be taken immediately.
