Chapter 1
It is in your moments of decisions that your destiny is shaped.
Tick…
Tock…
Tick…
Tock…
A pink haired woman growled as she glared at the source of the incessant noise. A giggle interrupted her anger towards the clock hanging on the wall. The pink haired woman turned towards an orange haired woman.
“Is something funny Sasame-san?” the pink haired woman asked, not finding anything humorous at the moment.
Sasame giggled some more and replied, “Sakura-san, you’re really eager for your shift to end today. Why’s that?”
The pink haired woman named Sakura closed her eyes and smiled. “Because today is the first time in a long time I getta see Haku-kun.”
Her thoughts slowly wandered towards her feminine male best friend who she‘s known since middle school. They used to cause so much trouble back then.
They met when he saved her from a thug one day when she was walking around downtown by herself. Don’t get her wrong, she could very well handle herself but she was caught off guard. She knew how to fight, you had to if you lived in Konoha where gangs and organizations like Akatsuki, ANBU, Sound, and more ruled the streets and most of the police were snobs who could easily become corrupt if you paid them the right price.
But that was a long time ago…I’ve changed… Sakura opened her eyes and looked at the clock. Her eyes brightened when she noticed it was 3:00 p.m. She grinned at Sasame while taking off her nurse’s coat and said, “Looks like my shift is over! Ja ne Sasame-chan!”
She walked out of the Konoha Hospital doors and threw her hands up in the air happily and childishly squealed out, “I’m free!”
A feminine male with long dark brown hair sweat dropped at the girl. “Sakura-chan, good to see that you haven’t changed in the past year.” He commented, making his presence known.
Sakura rubbed the back of her head and laughed sheepishly.
“I didn’t see you there Haku-kun. I thought I was supposed to go pick up Yukio-chan and you‘d be over at our place at 5 for dinner?” Sakura asked, tilting her head.
“I thought I’d surprise you.” Haku replied smiling.
Sakura grinned and hugged the male. “I missed you baka! Next time you go to America with Zabu-san to lay low for awhile, be sure to stuff me and Yukio-chan in one of your suitcases!” she scolded as she hugged him tighter then let him go. (Baka: Idiot)
Haku chuckled.
“I will. Don’t worry. It was hard leaving you two, you know that Saki.” he said, using the nickname he gave her.
Sakura smiled and hooked her elbow with his. She started dragging him off towards the parking lot and said, “Let’s go pick up my little Yukio-chan now!”
A dark brown-haired little boy with bright green eyes around the age of 7 waited outside of school gates patiently. He was kicking a rock around until shouts of “Yukio-chan!” made him stop. He looked up to see Sakura dragging Haku.
He grinned and shouted back “Kaa-chan! Haku-ji-san!” (Kaa-chan: Mom, Haku-ji-san: Uncle Haku. Jii is grandpa, ji is uncle.)
The boy scrambled to give his mom a hug then he ran and nearly tackled Haku.
“Haku-ji-san! I missed you! Did you gimme a present?!” he asked excitedly.
Haku laughed and ruffled the little boy’s hair. “Course I did Yukio-kun.”
Sakura smiled as she lovingly stared at her 7 year old son, Haruno Yukio. She winced as she saw her son smile the same exact way his father Morino Idate did. Her happy smile turned into a sad frown at the thought of him. No! Idate-kun wouldn’t want us to be sad that Yukio was raised without a father. It’s been almost 8 years since that incidence. I’ve gotta stop thinking about it and about him.
“Saki?” Haku’s voice snapped Sakura out of her reverie.
“Hm? Nani?” Sakura asked. (Nani: What)
“I said wanna go now?” Haku repeated as he stared at his best friend worriedly.
Sakura smiled at him, trying to reassure him, and nodded her head.
“Hai! Let’s go! C’mon Yukio-chan!” Sakura said as she held her son’s hand.
“Kaa-chan, I told you to stop calling me that.” Yukio complained. “Last year it was different, but I’m a man now! I gotta take care of kaa-chan!” Yuki grinned and put a thumbs up, making the two adults chuckle.
“A man you say? Have you been training hard at your fighting classes to protect your kaa-chan?” Haku asked raising an eyebrow.
Yukio smirked and replied, “Of course! I’m the top fighter! Sensei said so!”
Sakura rolled her eyes and ruffled his hair. “Don’t let it get to your head squirt! Now let’s go.” she said as she started walking towards her car.
“Kaa-chan,” Yukio stopped, making Sakura stop too. “Can I ride with Haku-ji-san?” He looked at her with pleading puppy dog eyes.
Sakura looked down and smiled. “Sure, why not?” Yukio grinned and ran towards Haku to tell him the good news. “You two can go ahead and go home, I’ve gotta go do some last minute grocery shopping anyways.” Sakura tossed Haku her house key.
“Make yourself at home Haku-kun! And behave Yukio-chan.” Sakura bent down to kiss her son on the cheek then gave Haku a friendly kiss on the cheek also. “Ja!”
SPLASH!
A woman with long dark indigo colored hair and pearly white eyes stepped on a puddle of water and hid beside a dumpster. She was quietly panting as she held onto her wounded, bleeding shoulder. She reached down into her pocket and pulled out a switchblade.
There’s two of them and I don’t have any guns on me. What am I gonna do? The woman bit her lip as she concentrated on listening for footsteps.
“Where’d she go?” a gruff voice asked.
“Boss is gonna be mad if he finds out we had her cornered and didn‘t kill her.” another voice said, sounding like it was getting closer.
The woman stiffened when she could see the shadows that were mere inches away. Just a little closer… The shadows started getting closer, step by step. Now!
The woman jumped out and stabbed the closest person in the gut and was about to turn around to kick the other person but was grabbed by the hair before she could.
“Bitch!” The man who got stabbed cursed out as he pulled the switchblade out of his gut.
The other man who grabbed her by her hair slammed her into the brick wall behind her, making her groan in pain.
The man with the switchblade growled and pushed the other man out of the way, holding the blade up to the girl’s neck.
“Well, well, well. Looks like we’ve got you cornered Hyuuga bitch.” He sneered, looking down at her.
“And there’s nothing you can do about it.” The other man said, smirking.
“I’m gonna cut you’re pretty little face up till no one can even recognize you. Then imma fuck you real good and rub it into your boyfriends’ faces.” The man who held the switchblade slowly dragged the switchblade up from her neck to her cheek. He applied pressure to the blade on her cheek and grinned sadistically when a blood started oozing out.
The woman glared at the man, her eyes showing hate but not once did it show fear.
“Let’s see, I need to get some more noodles for the spaghetti I’m making and I’ll get some more ramen for Yukio-chan since he devoured the whole box of ramen I bought last time.” Sakura mumbled to herself as she grabbed the things she needed and threw it into the cart.
She went to the register and when her things were bagged she headed towards her car and started putting them into the trunk.
“Ah! I forgot to buy some of that brand of water Haku-kun likes. He always complains when I don’t buy the right brand because ‘they have a distinct taste difference’ he claims.” Sakura mumbled to herself some more as she got out of the car and started walking back towards the store.
She walked past the alley that separated the grocery store and the store next to it but stopped when she heard, “Well, well, well. Looks like we’ve got you cornered Hyuuga bitch.”
“And there’s nothing you can do about it.” Another voice said.
Sakura narrowed her eyes and stopped walking. She knew the rules of the streets. Don’t interfere with business that doesn’t concern you. But she couldn’t just walk by and ignore it.
“So what is it gonna be…interfere and possible fuck up your life again or ignore it and possibly hate yourself for not being able to help the helpless like Idate taught you?” A voice in her head asked.
“I’m gonna cut you’re pretty little face up till no one can even recognize you. Then imma fuck you real good and rub it into your boyfriends’ faces.” The same voice of the first man said.
That’s it, my mind’s made up. What kinda sick bastard says that to a girl? And a Hyuuga girl nonetheless. Sakura bent down and lifted up her right pant legs to reveal a gun. She never went anywhere unarmed. Grabbing her gun, she walked into the alley making sure her gun wasn't in sight as of yet.
“Hm, I don’t think that’s the right way to treat a girl.” Sakura said aloud, getting the attention of 3 people. A tall man was holding a switchblade to a dark indigo haired woman and a bulky man was standing beside them.
The bulky man sneered at her and said, “This is none of your business. I suggest you leave now unharmed or we might change our mind and kill you.”
Sakura rose a delicate eyebrow and ignored the threat.
“I think you should let her go.” Sakura said as she smiled kindly at the men.
The man holding the switchblade guffawed, still holding the blade to the woman’s cheek, making her wince in pain. “What makes you think we’ll listen to you?” He asked cockily.
Sakura pulled out her gun and pointed at the tall man with the switchblade. She still had the kind smile on as she said, “Because I just might have to kill you too.”
The men stiffened seeing as how they were at a loss.
“Shoot me and you’ll probably end up shooting her too.” The tall man said, trying to still sound confident.
Sakura smirked.
“But that’s where you’re wrong. I never miss.” Sakura said with a dangerous tone in her voice. Not…Just bluffing but they don‘t need to know that. “I’ll count to 3 and you better have let her go.”
“Jiro, let her go. We’ll get her next time.” The bulky man muttered.
“One…” Sakura started counting
“Hell no Kano, not when we’re this close to getting ourselves the head of an ANBU member.” The tall man Sakura assumed was Jiro said.
“Two” The men heard the gun click.
The indigo haired woman took this time to grab the tall man’s wrist and knock the switchblade out of his hands. Then she quickly kneed him where it hurts most on a guy, making him crouch down in pain.
BANG! BANG!
“Three…” Sakura watched the men fell down dead.
The pink haired woman put the gun back on its holster on her leg and walked towards the woman. She mentally checked to see if the woman had any other injuries besides the cut on her face and noticed the deep wound on her left shoulder.
Looks like a really deep knife wound. Sakura observed.
“Th-thank you for saving me.” The woman thanked as she looked at Sakura gratefully. “My name is Hyuuga Hinata. And your’s?”
Sakura smiled at the woman. “No problem Hinata-san. The name‘s Sakura!”
She wasn’t stupid enough to give away her full name to some stranger, well to be more specific an ANBU member. ANBU was one of the notorious organizations that ran the streets. They preferred to be called an organization instead of a gang because they claim they were better then street gangs and had more respect then that.
“Hinata-san can I please see your shoulder wound?” Sakura asked worriedly. I saved her, I might as well help her with her wound a little too.
Hinata blinked and nodded her head. She took off her big jacket, giving Sakura access to see the wound as well as the traditional ANBU tattoo on her right shoulder.
As Sakura looked over the wound Hinata took the time to observe the pink haired woman. She was wearing a short sleeved pale blue V neck shirt with black jeans.
Her observation was interrupted when Sakura said, “It’s not deep. Just needs a couple stitches." She took off her shirt, revealing a white tank top underneath, ripped it in half vertically, and wrapped Hinata’s shoulder with it. “Don’t move too much or you’ll make it bleed more.”
Hinata nodded her head and thanked her again.
“We should go. By now someone must’ve called the cops.” Sakura said, getting up and walking out of the alley.
Hinata followed her actions and started getting up.
“No offense Hinata-san, but I hope we never meet again.” Was the last thing Hinata heard before Sakura disappeared from her sight, leaving the Hyuuga contemplating about what just happened.
KC: The chapter was short for a reason! It’s because it’s just the first chapter xD
