Summary: A Nanny McPhee fanfic, written shortly after I calmed down from an emotional breakdown. What if the children pushed the cook, Mrs. Blatherwick, too far? Nanny McPhee/Mrs. Blatherwick.

Disclaimer: I don't own this, I just love the women who played Nanny McPhee and Mrs. Blatherwick.

I Can't Interfere With Affairs of the Heart, Not Even My Own

Mrs. Blatherwick was frantically screaming at the Brown children and attempting to stop them from stealing from the cupboard, but they faught her. Evangeline saw what was going on and immediately went to get Cedric and Nanny McPhee.

"Cedric, the children are in the kitchen, Nanny McPhee, please do something, I think today might be the day!" she cried when she got to the drawing room where Cedric was going over some things about the children with Nanny McPhee. Nanny McPhee had had to come back because the children had gotten out of hand again, but she wasn't ugly like before, she was normal looking because the children had already learned their lessons, they just chose not to use them.

"Oh no, she's going to frighten them!" shouted Cedric. He jumped up out of his chair. Nanny McPhee followed.

"What about her; she can't handle too much more of this." said Evangeline.

"If she bursts out in front of the children they're going to panic and try to defend themselves." said Cedric as they all headed toward the kitchen.

"She's freaking out worse than last time, this could kill her." said Evangeline.

"Then we'll have a dead cook and frightened children, please stop arguing!" shouted Nanny McPhee.

They had reached the door to the kitchen.

The children were out of control and Mrs. Blatherwick had and insane look in her eyes.

"Children, stop it this instant!" shouted Cedric.

The children all stopped and turned to look at their father standing in the door with Evangeline and Nanny McPhee. Both Cedric and Evangeline were looking at the children, but Nanny McPhee was looking at Mrs. Blatherwick. She'd sensed danger. "Mr. Brown, get the children out of the kitchen." she ordered.

Cedric did as he was told. Mrs. Blatherwick had already shattered a tea kettle. "I CAN'T DO THIS ANYMORE!" she shouted.

Evangeline began to cry.

Mrs. Blatherwick smashed several plates. "I HATE THOSE CHILDREN, I HATE MY LIFE!" she shouted and she grabbed a sharp piece of broken glass and held it over her wrist.

Nanny McPhee hurried over to the distressed cook. "No!" she said sharply, wrenching the piece of glass out of Mrs. Blatherwick's hand.

"Please, let me do it, let me put myself out of my misery." Mrs. Blatherwick pleaded.

Mrs. Blatherwick's breathing was irregular and comming in sharp gasps. This frightened Evangeline, who was now standing next to Nanny McPhee. "What's wrong with her; she's never been unable to breathe before, we should call a doctor." she cried.

"She doesn't need a doctor, she's having a panic attack." said Nanny McPhee as she helped Mrs. Blatherwick into her chair.

"Then she needs her pills, oh Nanny McPhee, I'll never figure out which bottle is which, please get them for her." said Evangeline.

Mrs. Blatherwick was gasping for breath while tears poured down her cheeks.

"She doesn't need her pills, fix her a cup of tea, I'm going to talk her through it." said Nanny McPhee, kneeling beside Mrs. Blatherwick's chair so that their faces were level with each other and their lips were inches apart.

"Well, alright." said Evangeline, she pulled a new tea kettle out of a cabinet and set it on the stove.

"Okay, Mrs. Blatherwick, you're alright, I'm going to need you to keep talking to me, do you think you can do that?" asked Nanny McPhee, caressing Mrs. Blatherwick's arm.

Mrs. Blatherwick nodded.

"Alright, let's talk, my first name is Emma, what's yours?" asked Nanny McPhee, grasping Mrs. Blatherwick's hand.

"I-I-Imelda." Mrs. Blatherwick stammered.

"That's a pretty name, now, my favorite color is blue, what's yours?" asked Nanny McPhee.

"Gr-gre-gr-" Mrs. Blatherwick coughed, she couldn't finish what she was saying.

"Okay, okay, take a deep breath, let's not talk anymore, let's breathe." said Nanny McPhee, seeing that talking wasn't going to help.

Mrs. Blatherwick took a deep breath, but coughed again.

"I didn't expect you to be able to do it the first time, let's try it again." said Nanny McPhee.

They both took a deep breath at the same time and let it out at the same time. Mrs. Blatherwick coughed yet again before she could finish.

"That's aright, rest for a moment before you try again, just take short breaths." said Nanny McPhee.

"Oh, we're out of tea, I'll have to go into the cellar." said Evangeline.

"Do whatever you need to do, Evangeline, we're fine here." said Nanny McPhee, not taking her eyes off of Mrs. Blatherwick.

Evangeline left.

"Alright, Imelda, try it again, in and out, ready, one, two, three." said Nanny McPhee.

Mrs. Blatherwick inhaled and exhaled shakily, but sucessfully this time.

"That's it, now do it again." said Nanny McPhee.

Mrs. Blatherwick's breathing became more steady as she inhaled and exhaled.

"That's right, just breathe, just breathe." said Nanny McPhee, in a soft voice.

Their lips were closer now.

Mrs. Blatherwick's breathing returned to normal after several more deep breaths.

"Imelda." whispered Nanny McPhee.

"Yes, Emma." whispered Mrs. Blatherwick.

"Kiss me." whispered Nanny McPhee.

"With pleasure." whispered Mrs. Blatherwick.

Their lips met in a soft, sweet kiss. The kiss gradually became deeper untill Mrs. Blatherwick pulled Nanny McPhee into her lap and their body heat kept them warm in the drafty kitchen.

They only broke the kiss when they heard the sound if china shattering in the doorway.

A/N: Cliffhanger! What happened in the doorway? Anyway, tell me what you think of it, I love reviews, they make me feel loved.
