Cars with bright shiny chrome hubcaps and flawless paintjobs whizzed passed with the latest pop hit blaring out of the speakers under the neon glow of Tokyo’s nightlife. To the average person it was just another typical night for Tokyo, but I knew better or at least different. Just like I knew better than to piss off the two burly bodyguards that flanked me, like I need bodyguards, I’m just as dangerous as any demon or bloodsucker you’ll meet on the streets.
We reached a building that lacked the colorful neon lights of the nightclubs of Tokyo, but that was typical for this type of establishment. One of the two bozos yanked open the door and I walked in and was hit by the low beat of a bass that was cranked up way to loud. A dazzling, slightly sickening display of neon lights and loud trance music met me, as my eyes began to adjust to the weird lighting in the room.
I frowned, wondering why I had to meet this client in a sanguine club. Young people of both the natural and supernatural type were packed in here, almost all of them high on the psychedelic drug popular among the supernatural community known simply as Rapture. It was similar to Ecstasy, but apparently gave a better high and was much more potent. “This way,” one of the two meatheads grumbled, leading me to the left, away from the raving teenagers.
We passed through a dingy looking door, with peeling paint and I nearly gagged as I entered the new section of the club. Yep, this was definitely for the older more mature folks. This room smelled of booze, stale cigarette smoke, sweat and sex, and I could also pick up the faint metallic rusty smell of blood. Black and brown orbs leered at me and I just glowered back. I grudgingly followed my guides, ignoring the stares of the bloodsuckers and flesheaters. I knew better to voice my discomfort at being so close to vampires and werewolves, seeing as this particular club was owned by the infamous Uchiha Clan, Tokyo’s head vampire clan, and was also apart of the yakuza. The werewolves were members of the Inuzuka clan, Japan’s only werewolf clan, and I wondered briefly how they allied with the Uchihas, because bloodsuckers and flesheaters don’t get along. At. All.
Finally, we reached the back of this room and I was faced with a door that had pea soup green paint that was peeling, revealing dried out would. The one of my meathead guards knocked on the door before leaving me by myself, I dropped my hand to gun I kept on my thigh, my green eyes flicking around to eye the supernaturals in the room. I made a mental note to kill Tsunade for sending me here. Don’t get me wrong, I owe my life to my adoptive mother, but still. I had no love for her right now. None at all.
The door opened and a young man, okay he looked like he was seventeen, appeared. He wore black slacks and shiny black shoes, a black silk shirt with black pearl buttons. His skin was the creamy color of alabaster and he had no color in his cheeks. His black eyes were more like onyx colored voids, his long bangs fell an inch pass his chin and the rest of his hair was spiked in the back. If it was a different girl, she would’ve swoon at the sight of him. I just frowned in annoyance and had the intense urge to rip his balls off. He smirked at me, revealing his pearly white fangs. “This way, girlie,” he sneered, opening the door for me. I brushed passed him and he fell instep behind me, though that was short live as he easily over took me and began leading me through the small smoky room.
He glanced briefly at a booth, where a vampiress was being treated by two burly looking men that looked to be werewolves. My bloodsucker guide gave a snort of disgust and we made it to the far booth, where the man I was suppose to meet sat, two lovely ladies at his side.
Uchiha Fugaku looked up and gave a lazy ass smirk, his fangs glimmering in the dim light. “I see the slayers sent their liaison to me, how wonderful,” he took a draw on his cigarette. “Ladies, shoo, I have work to do,” he waved his hands in a foo-foo manner. The vampiresses moaned in displeasure and left, their black hair swaying against their pale backs. Fugaku’s black eyes followed them before he snapped them back at me, my guide slid in besides Fugaku, with his arms crossed and annoyed frown on his face.
“Father,” another bloodsucker joined us. He looked similar to Fugaku, with lines on his face that made him look eternally tired, but he had black eyes like my guide and ash black hair, though it was long and he kept it tied back. He too, was wearing black slacks, shoes, and a black silk dress shirt.
“Itachi, sit, we have business to discuss with those that deny us the right to live,” Fugaku eyed me, as Itachi slid into the empty seat besides his father. My guide looked up at Itachi, gave a curt not before he went back to sulking like a three-year-old.
“Miss Haruno, I’d like you to meet my sons,” Fugaku waved his cigarette around, the silver smoke drifting up lazily. “My eldest, Itachi,” Fugaku gave a warm smile to the bloodsucker besides him. Itachi bowed his head in a modest manner and muttered a soft hello. I nodded in his direction. “And my youngest, Sasuke,” he gestured in the pouting one’s direction. Sasuke flicked his obsidian eyes up at me then at his father.
“Why do I have to be here again?” Sasuke grumbled.
“Because you will someday take over my business,” Fugaku said. He picked up a glass with red liquid that I can grantee wasn’t tomato juice and took a sip from it.
“Itachi’s older than I am, he’s gonna take over, so why am I needed?” Sasuke grumbled.
Fugaku cuffed him outside the head; “Because I said so!” he growled eyeing his son. Sasuke snorted.
“I’m charmed at all about meeting your two lovely sons, but I believe we have business to discuss,” I batted my eyelashes at Fugaku. He laughed, and gave me a sexy smirk.
“Are you thirsty Miss Haruno?” he drawled.
“Not really,” I muttered, but Fugaku ordered a glass of water for me. The waiter protested but Fugaku only flashed his fangs and the man scuttled off. I had my water within three minutes. I looked at the bits floating around in it, and I decided not to drink it.
“I’m feeling generous tonight, you can play with one of my sons tonight, pick one,” Fugaku pointed with his hands at the two sexy bloodsuckers on either side of him. I frowned.
“I’m not in the habit of fucking bloodsuckers, sorry,” I smiled sweetly. Sasuke narrowed his eyes.
“Watch your tone girlie,” he growled. I snarled at him and fingered the trigger on my pistol. I so wanted to put a bullet between his eyes.
“Sasuke, be nice to our guest,” Fugaku chided. Sasuke snorted and went back to what he did best, which was pouting like a two-year-old.
“So, let’s get down to business,” Fugaku smirked. “I want you to kill some people,” he said.
“Last I checked slayers aren’t hired guns for bloodsuckers or the yakuza,” I shot back. Fugaku frowned before laughing.
“Clever little bitch, ne, Itachi?” Fugaku looked at his eldest.
“Yes Father,” Itachi looked at me, and I felt the beginnings of a blush work their way up to my cheeks as his black eyes bore into me. “She is quite clever. Her tongue is just as sharp as her blade,” Itachi muttered. Sasuke smirked, his eyes fluttered close as he shook his head. He muttered something that sounded like Korean, but whatever he said it caused pink to appear in Itachi’s pale cheeks and he shot back in the same language that Sasuke used. The younger Uchiha just shrugged, still smirking about something.
“Back to business boys,” I huffed. “Who or what do you want me to terminate?” I asked.
“Ah,” Fugaku smiled, “I like this one. Too bad our laws prevent marriage between predator and prey,” a predatory glint sparked in Fugaku’s eyes. He put out his cigarette on the worn polished table top. “I want you and Sasuke to eliminate the Akatsuki,” Fugaku said.
I blanched at that, as did Sasuke.
“I am not working with a natural!” Sasuke snarled, eyes narrowing. Fugaku eyed his son.
“You will do as I say, Sasuke,” Fugaku growled.
“I can take you any day,” Sasuke snarled.
“Otouto-kun,” Itachi whispered, looking at his brother. Sasuke snorted, but backed down.
“And what if I refuse to work with him?” I asked.
“Then Tsunade will be disappointed to know that her daughter failed to play nice with the bloodsuckers,” Fugaku smirked and his eyes bled red. I froze and all logic and reason jumped out of my brain, as I drew my gun, but before I lift it up and aim it a Fugaku’s head, I felt Sasuke’s fingers wrap around my wrist.
I was surprise to how warm his touch was, vampires may be alive as the next person, but I always thought that they would be cool oppose to warm.
“Play nice, girlie,” he narrowed his coal black eyes. I slipped my gun back into the holster on my thigh. Fugaku’s eyes returned to their black color and he smirked at me as Sasuke slowly let go of my wrist.
“Anyways, this Akatsuki group as been giving me grief and they appear to be looking for something,” Fugaku took a sip of the blood in the glass, “and whatever they are looking for I don’t have it, so I want you and Sasuke to take care of them for me,” Fugaku said.
“And if I refuse?” I asked.
Number one rule when working with bloodsuckers: they always get what they want, no matter what. When they want it, how they want and whom they want it from, they get it. Doesn’t matter. You must always be on your toes when dealing with them and remember that you won’t be getting your way any time soon, and you’ll do fine.
Of course, I look at the rules as sort of general guidelines that you can choose to follow, that’s just how a roll.
“Then very bad things will happen,” Fugaku whispered. I frowned, wondering what ‘bad things’ he was talking about; not really wanting to find out, I gave up.
“Fine,” I agreed. Fugaku smirked.
“Excellent,” Fugaku grinned. I frowned.
“If that’s all, I best be running along home,” I gave a sugary sweet smile and stood up.
“Are sure you don’t want to stay?” Fugaku asked.
“Positive,” I nodded.
“My boys will show you the way out,” Fugaku glanced at his sons. Itachi and Sasuke stood up and flanked me. I subconsciously inched closer to Itachi, before we headed towards the door.
“Itachi.”
We stopped and turned around to see an imposing woman, with brown hair and brown eyes, she had red fang tattoos on her cheeks and I noticed Itachi’s icy demeanor soften instantly upon seeing her; warm smile spread across his lips and he walked up to her.
“Hana,” he breathed and kissed the flesheater on the cheek before walking off with her. Well, now I knew how the Uchiha and the Inuzuka were in an alliance.
“Bastard,” Sasuke muttered in annoyance. “He drops everything when it comes to her, he even goes hunting with her now,” Sasuke griped and began heading towards the exit.
I stared after Itachi and I felt like sobbing like a love struck teenager and I didn’t know why. Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! I thought, staring dumbly at the happy lovey-dovey couple.
Yeah! Double fuck! I actually liked him! But he has a girlfriend! My inner personality chimed.
Actually, Itachi and Hana are engaged, to she’s his fiancée. Let’s go girlie, Sasuke’s voice rang in my head. I froze, slowly turning around to glower at him. I totally forgot bloodsuckers had limited telepathy. I marched up to him, a furious expression on my face.
“Bastard! Stay the fuck out of my head!” I grabbed him by his shirt, not really caring that if I harmed one single hair on that arrogant chicken ass head of his, my goose was cooked. “My head is my own private retreat! So stay the fuck out of it!” I snarled.
Sasuke just gave me a lazy smirk as he pried my hand off of his shirt. “Whatever you say girlie,” he pushed open the door and I, still fuming, followed him.
We stood on the sidewalk outside the sanguine club. Sasuke had his hands in his pockets and was looking bored out of his mind. “Meet here tomorrow night, so we can get this job my father wants us to do finish,” he looked at me.
“Yeah, whatever, just stay the fuck out of me head,” I huffed.
“Whatever you say girlie,” he shrugged and walked back inside. I began heading towards the slayers’ headquarters, brooding on my hatred for vampires and their ilk.
When I was four years old when my life changed forever. I was never born into a slayer family, in fact, my family was just your average normal family that could be your next door neighbour; we were that ordinary. It was December, it has just snowed the night before and the moon was full. I remember shaking as I sat in the snow, tears rolling down my still chubby cheeks, as I stared at my burning house. Two bloodsuckers were there, one in the distance, the other closer to me.
The closer one was the one I remember clearly, he had eyes the exact same color of fresh blood, the same color that stained his lips and jaw; his face half illuminated and half cloaked in shadows, as he finished draining my mother dry. He looked up and walked towards me. In an oddly tender moment, he brushed my bubblegum pink hair out of my wide frighten green eyes, his own black bangs falling like a current around us; it began to snow and it tried to belie the monster that he was as those pupil less red eyes burned themselves into my brain. He kissed my forehead tenderly before whispering in my ear: “Hate me, fear me, until it consumes your heart, your soul,” and he paused smirking, “then kill me.”
I must’ve crawled over to my mother’s lifeless body and waited for death’s embrace as well, for I passed out and woke up tasting blood and meeting my savoir; the hebi-youkai, Orochimaru. He took me in, which at the time I was thankful for, but quickly learn to regret. It was there I met three other children.
A boy with white hair and periwinkle purple eyes and shark like teeth, named Hozuki Suigetsu. His family was butchered by werewolves. Another boy with brown eyes and orange hair named Jugo; I don’t remember what happened to his family because he never talked much, but he was half-demon. And a girl, with red hair and matching eyes named, Karin. Her family was killed demons, and for the longest time I hated her because her eyes reminded me of the vampire that killed my parents.
Life wasn’t peachy keen with Orochimaru and his side kick, Yakushi Kabuto. We were experimented on, abused both mentally and physically in every way humanly and inhumanly possible. I remember snuggling up against Karin, crying, the night Jugo was killed. The three of us survived by clinging to our hatred for the monsters that took our families away, we were the strongest of all the children Orochimaru had in his sewer lair, and for that he prized us above all else. I heard talk once in a while, that he was thinking about getting rid of his four elite body guards and replacing them with the three of us. I remember one girl, Tayuya, hated the fact that she would lose her position of power to a bunch of lab-rats like us. She spat in my gruel once and I nearly tore her eyes out.
When I was ten years old, Tsunade entered my life. She, her adoptive daughter Shizune, and Shizune’s boyfriend Hatake Kakashi, rescued us from Orochimaru. Of course we fought our saviors tooth and nail, until they cornered us. Suigetsu and Karin gave up once they realized the fight was over, but I didn’t, I fought until I couldn’t fight anymore and then some and eventually passed out from exhaustion.
The eight years following my rescue were tough. I had to learn to be human again, but that didn’t change the fact that I still had the memories and the scars; the memories where more painful and harder to deal with, but I survived, I’m a fighter and a survivor.
I was adoptive by Tsunade, and I, Suigetsu and Karin eventually became slayers in her employ as she ran the local slayer station in Tokyo, working for some mysterious man she referred to as the Kage. Since then, I’ve been hunting the bloodsucker that killed my parents. I don’t know his name, but he’s like a ghost, so I call him Ghost, and I vow that I will kick everyone’s fucking ass until I get my revenge.
I woke up the next day, with no memory of how I got home, which was typical. I grumbled and turned on some music, and my ears were greeted with the harsh cords of Avenge Sevenfold. American metal was the best stuff in the whole damn world. Period. I slowly dressed, mouthing the words to the current song, as I traced the white mementos left by the Snake, reliving the hell he put me through.
“I see that you’re up Sakura,” Suigetsu said from the doorway. I glanced at him, not caring that I was only in my panties. We’ve seen each other naked, and modesty is kinda like those rules I mentioned earlier, just guidelines that I frequently ignore.
“Please tell me you have some interesting new for me?” I asked, putting my bra on and then my jean capris. I pulled on a black mini Tee with red slash marks and I smirked as I looked at myself in the mirror, before I slipped a scarlet headband on.
“Not really, Tsunade wants us to take care of Ino,” Suigetsu sighed. He was wearing a purple sleeve-less shirt that matched his eyes and grey cargo pants. I sighed. Yamanaka Ino was a succubus, a female sex demon.
Sex demons were relatively harmless, but they oozed lust like it was sweat and anyone within three feet of them became ultra horny and its just a pain. They normally appear at night, but Ino and her playmate Sai, liked the daylight scene.
“Why do we have to deal with her?”
“Because Ino likes us best,” Suigetsu shrugged. “Karin is downstairs waiting for us,” Suigetsu added.
“Yeah, yeah, that bitch can wait as long as I want her to wait,” I muttered. Suigetsu snickered, before leaving. I glanced at myself in the mirror before following Suigetsu.
The three of us walked down the street towards the city square, where Ino liked to hang out. “So, how did your thing with the bloodsuckers go last night?” Karin asked, she had one hand laced with Suigetsu’s. I’d always knew they’d end up dating.
“Awful, I have to work his sulking whiny son, Sasuke,” I pulled at my cherry blossom pink hair and shot an envious look at Karin’s red locks. Oh, what I would give to have the same hair color as Karin. I seriously hated pink.
“Hey-o!” Ino shouted, she was twirling around on a lamppost, wearing a mini skirt/short combo, three inch heel sandals, a neon purple tube top, and her platinum blond hair was tied up in a high ponytail with her bangs covering her left eye. She was sucking on a lollipop and I could tell that several of the guys staring at Ino wished her tongue was around other things at the moment.
“Okay, break it up,” I clapped my hands and began to shoo away the bystanders; with Karin’s help we disarmed the horrible scene. It was always best to tackle a sex demon of the same sex as you, because they had little effect on your libido. But if you had to deal with a sex demon of the opposite sex, best do it in pairs. Hence the reason why Suigetsu was staying as close to Sai as possible.
Ino hopped down from the lamppost and looked at Karin and I, smiling brightly, I could see a glimpse of her vampire fangs. Ino wasn’t a pureblood succubus, her father was a vampire, but her mother apparently, as Ino tells it, had a lot of lust during the pregnancy and Ino turned out to be more succubus then vampire. “What are you guys doing here? I’m being good,” she giggled, flirting with passing guys.
“Ino focus, you know Tsunade doesn’t like it when you cause a scene,” I growled. Ino pouted cutely, before giggling.
“Sorry, but it’s just so fun! Lust is everywhere and it makes me dizzy! I want to fuck someone so badly!” Ino hopped back on the lamppost and began to twirl around it again.
“Ino,” I shouted. Ino pouted and hopped down to look at us again.
“We’re gonna turn you in if you don’t behave,” Karin pushed her glasses up on her nose.
“Unless you can promise us you’ll come to play only at night and give us some information,” I added. Karin looked at me and I grinned.
“Okay!” Ino chirped. Ino was Tokyo’s biggest supernatural gossiper.
“What do you know about Akatsuki?” I asked. Ino froze and Sai shot his head up to stare at us.
“You don’t mess with the Akatsuki,” Sai muttered before going back to his drawing.
“Ino,” I pressed.
“The Akatsuki…they’re dangerous. They’re looking for something. Nobody talks about them,” Ino then gave a devilish smirk, “but I know someone that will willingly talk about them, but you’re not gonna like who it is,” Ino said.
“Tell me,” I growled. Ino annoyed me when she knew something that I didn’t.
“You’ll let me stay?” Ino chirped.
“Depends if the information is good, now who is the source?” I asked. Ino rocked on the balls of her feet, which how she managed to do that in heels was beyond me, but then again, this was Ino.
“Orochimaru,” Ino said.
“Oh hell no!” I growled and went for my gun to put a bullet between Ino’s eyes but Karin grabbed my hand.
“You can stay Ino, just be good and stay out of trouble; otherwise Tsunade may send Shikamaru and Temari,” Karin warned. Ino paled at the mention of Temari. If I remember correctly, Ino tried to get into Shikamaru’s pants, and him being the lazy ass he is, didn’t do anything about it, and Temari caught them. She opened a can of whoop-ass on Ino and refused to talk to Shikamaru for a month. Since then, Ino has been afraid of Temari and would do anything to stay on Tsunade’s good side just so Tsunade wouldn’t send Temari.
“Oh…and one more thing,” Ino whispered.
“What?” Karin looked at Ino; I was too pissed to speak.
“Beware of a person named Madara,” Ino added.
“We will,” Suigetsu nodded and began leading the way.
We stood on the busy street of downtown Tokyo. The cacophony of cars and angry drivers as they avoided us was relatively nothing compared to what we were use to. I watched the people walking on the sidewalk, blissfully ignorant that they could be walking next to a demon of a daywalking vampire or a werewolf. Suigetsu grunted as he removed the heavy manhole cover. “Ladies first,” he smirked at us.
“Get your ass in there fish boy!” Karin snarled. Suigetsu shook his head.
“I need to close the damn thing once we’re in so some idiot doesn’t sue the city, which in turns lands us with the bill,” Suigetsu grumbled.
“He does have a point Karin,” I pointed out.
“Fine, you first Sakura,” Karin smirked. I shot her a glare that could kill and climbed down the slimy ladder into the gloom.
“Anyone bring a flashlight?” I asked.
“I did!” Karin dropped the flashlight and I caught it.
“You always have flashlights, sweetheart,” I smiled at Karin as she landed next to me and turned hers on. Suigetsu pulled the manhole cover back on before dropping down besides us. Karin handed him her last flashlight.
“Let’s move out,” Suigetsu began leading the way again, Karin and I shrugged and fell instep behind him.
The smell of human waste tickled our noses as the roar of busy Tokyo rumbled over our heads. We moved in relative silence, all three of us remembering the horrors the Snake put us through. It was surprisingly cool down here, away from the icky humidity of Japan’s summers. We wove through the catacombs of the sewers, ignoring the squeaks of rats and the clicking of the cockroaches feet. I rounded a corner and my flashlight beam hit a pair of blood red eyes.
“Ghost,” I growled, grabbed my gun in my free hand and ran after him.
“Sakura!” Suigetsu and Karin shouted after me, but I easily lost them in the tunnels of the sewer.
I ran after him through the slimy tunnels, my blood pumping in my ears, and I was solely focused on putting a bullet in his brain. I skidded on some slime and nearly fell into the much of sewage, but I was able to grab hold on some iron rebar and swing myself up onto the walkway. Ghost flinched before taking off again.
By the time I cornered the fucking bloodsucker I was lost and I didn’t even know where Karin and Suigetsu were. “Okay punk,” I cocked my gun, watching as Ghost avoided the light and purposely stayed in the shadows. “This is the last day you’ll be alive, I’m gonna kill you, just like you told me to all those years ago,” I aimed my gun right between his glowing red eyes.
I was about to pull the trigger and end his life when there was a whooshing sloshing sound behind me. I lowered my gun, and Ghost took the chance to escape, I swore but turned around to face the new beastie. Rearing up out of the water was the Snake, in his partial release form.
Orochimaru was a total of twelve feet long. His torso was that of a man’s and very muscular. His human arms were also rippling with muscles and claws tipped his fingers on his hands. He glared at me with those creepy yellow eyes and his black hung in strings around his face. Scales covered his entire body. He flicked his forked tongue out at me. “Well, if it isn’t the little cherry blossom,” he hissed.
“Orochimaru,” I lowered my gun and gave him a sugary grin. “I was looking for you,” I said.
“Really?” Orochimaru cackled.
“Yep, I have some questions for you. Like where is Kabuto? Did you get hungry enough to eat your rat?”
“Foolish girl,” Orochimaru hissed. I snorted.
“Anyways, that’s not what I came down here for,” I pushed aside the memories of his fingers touching me, all over my body.
“Ask,” Orochimaru hissed.
“What do you know of the Akatsuki?” I growled.
“Does Mommy know you’re down here?” Orochimaru asked. I frowned and raised my gun.
“You keep your slimy scales off my mother!” I growled.
“Protective, I take it that she doesn’t,” he sneered. “Perfect,” his tail which was all snake, slithered around my ankles in a very protective manner. “The Akatsuki has been around since the Nara period,” Orochimaru said. “According to legend, it was founded by a man named Madara,” Orochimaru leaned in close. “That’s all I’m willing to say on the matter, because some things are best left in the dark,” Orochimaru smirked.
“Who is there leader and where can I find them?”
“Listen Sakura, I would love to chitchat about Akatsuki all day long, but even I, an outcast among the supernatural community knows better than to say too much about Akatsuki. I will say this, they are looking for something and they believe they’ve found its location,” Orochimaru said.
“Where is this thing and what is it?” I asked.
“It’s a weapon more terrible than the nuclear bombs you humans are so terrified of. And its location,” Orochimaru smirked, “is in Tokyo.”
Orochimaru then sank into the putrid waters and I swayed and suddenly passed out.
And so ends chapter one
Yay! Whispers is being rewritten! I am so happy how it turned out! It’s so much better than the first time! I especially like how I’m gonna add in ItaSaku. Yay! Of course it’s all on Sakura’s part.

I hope you guys enjoy this and the next chapter should be up soon, like later today or something.
I know Sai as a incubus is kinda...stupid, because Sai wouldn't make a good incubus, were Kiba would in this case. Buuuuut since Kiba is Inuzuka, he is a werewolf. So, yeah. Sorry Sara, no KibaIno. But I just love SaiIno!
Oh, guesses on Ghost's identiy. Its a shocker.
