The Rain
Lilo and Stitch One-shot
Came to me in middle of night.
Stitch
He hated the rain. He sat on top of his cot. It was the middle of the night and the thunder echoed around the island. Hawaii was known for its rain storms, the only actual thing he hated about the island. He always hated water, whatever shape or form. It was around 2 a.m. at night and he could hear the rain hit the dome roof, making his blue fur stand on ends. But the thunder was what scared him the most due to his heightened hearing. He hated nights like these where he was the only one still awake, how Lilo and his ohana could sleep like this was beyond him.
Boom!
It was getting louder and louder outside the house. The sound echoed its way into his sensitive ears, causing him to jump off his own bed and hit the metal floor below him. He rubbed his nose as he picked himself up. The room was made of complete metal, almost like living in a block of ice. He looked over to Lilo, making sure he didn't wake her. She had recently turned 14, much to Stitchs fright. Fright filled with questions that ran through his computerized brain. Questions like: "Is she going to get bored with me", "Is she wanting a relationship with her same species" or "Will our height difference make her think of me as a pet more than a friend" Luckily, he had gotten taller himself keeping him and Lilo at eye level.
But the question that had him confused was the important one: "Will she ever love me like I love her?" He had always loved her, her weird personality matched his own. He never understood love though, he thought he loved Angel but it ended when Lilo turned 10. Though Reuben got Angel on the rebound, he was still happy for them. He got rid of Angel so he could spend more time with Lilo, figuring that the more time they had spent together the more she would realize her feelings for him. He would try anything to get closer to her, even learning English. And each night his mind played different scenarios, some more realistic than others.
"Stitch?" Lilo said looking up at him from her bed. Stitch finally noticed that he was standing over her bed watching her sleep. "What are you doing?" She sat up. Ironic. He thought, he had a faster than super computer brain and he found himself at a blank. "Its the storm isn't it." She said. He just nodded, going along with it. Tonight's not the night, not yet. He thought. "You wanna sleep with me tonight?" She asked. "Yeah." Stitch said, until he could really tell her his feelings this was a close second. She lifted her blanket and moved over to allow Stitch to lay next to her. He reluctantly climbed up. On a bed so small, he could feel her skin touching his fur. She was surprisingly warm for someone in such a cold room. She wrapped her arms around him, enjoying his fur. She always liked feeling his fur, how it felt like a silk blanket.
Boom!
Another sound of thunder, louder than the last one, its sound waves bounced off the walls. Stitch jumped, grabbing anything he could to brace his fall from the bed, sadly the only thing on the bed was Lilo. Stitch fell off the head of the bed, Lilo rolled off the side. Stitch rushed to keep Lilo from hitting her head, catching her with his dull claws. A feeling of guilt overcame him. She could have gotten hurt because of me. He wanted to apologize but he couldn't even open his mouth. He crouched over her, looking into her eyes, she looked back. This was the moment he was waiting for, a moment between them. Wether to get up or stay down. Silence filled
All the results he came up with flooded into his mind, each had different results. If he kissed her would she resist him, embrace him, push him away, or pull him closer. These were the realistic ones. Its not worth losing her as a friend. He thought. "Sorry Lilo." He said getting up. Then, the only thing he didn't come up with happened. She put her hands on the back of his neck and pulled him back down. She was the one that made the first move. That was always her style, she wasn't a girl who waited for her crush to kiss her.
She sat up and met him halfway before she pulled his head the rest of the way. The second they kissed seemed like an eternity and a half. Her eyes closed as they stayed like that. After two more seconds, Lilo pulled away. Not knowing whether he felt the same joy she had, she ended the kiss and looked into his eyes. "Sorry Stitch." She said, almost getting to her feet. Its your turn idiot. The thought ran through his mind. He helped her off the ground and wrapped his claws around her waist. He pulled her closer. Her black hair covered her left eye. He brushed it to the side and kissed her like she just did. Catching her off guard. Enjoying the warmth of this feeling the humans had done so much.
Boom!
Oh yeah. Its raining. The very thing that had caused this moment, this wonderful feeling he had tried obtaining for so long. They separated for air, what was ten seconds seemed like an eternity. He, for some odd reason felt proud of himself. Why? The question ran through his mind. She moved first. She was willing to go for something special to her. A feeling of embarrassment overcame him. Lilo noticed the disappointed look he had in his eyes, his ears went from standing tall to touching the back of his head. "Whats wrong Stitch?" She asked. Maybe I can do something before she does.
"I love you Lilo." He said, pulling her back to his lips. He had enjoyed being the first to say those words. They had been tossed around between the two allot, but for the first time it was a real moment of love. Not friendly love or sibling love, but full fledged love. She pushed him away. "I love you too Stitch." How those little words could mean so much. He pulled her back to him. Silenced had filled the room, except the faint sound of rain hitting the dome roof. The same noise that had seemed so loud only minutes before.
The Final thoughts that crossed his mind:
I Love Lilo.
She Loves Me Too.
I Love This Night.
Lilo
She laid there, staring at Stitch, who was staring into space. He jumped every time thunder had struck, obviously scared of it due to his heightened hearing, at least that's how Jumba had said it. He wasn't a fan of the rain either. She couldn't blame him, after all the rain had taken its fair share out of her life. Her thoughts drifted back to the night of her parents death 9 years ago. Her eyes started to tear up form the last time she had seen them, but it was also on a night like this that Stitch had came crashing down on this island, accidentally avoiding a sure death in the ocean. It had been a equal situation of love and hate. She turned her head, if Stitch saw her watching him it would be one thing but to see her crying would be another, which she rarely did.
Boom!
That one seemed louder. She thought, drifting back into the cold reality known as life. A sudden crash came from the area around Stitchs cot. She turned her head slowly and made sure she looked asleep. He had fallen face first onto the metal ground, she wanted to get up and help him, but it would make for an awkward moment. Hey Stitch are you okay, why am I still awake? Because I was staring at you. Why? Oh I think I love you. Love... at least she thought that was the right word for what she was feeling. She remembered the great joy she had when she heard he had broken up with Angel, though she didn't know why.
Then when she turned 13, she had noticed changes of her.... appearance, as well as his. He had grown since when they were kids, she had turned 13 and had grown to a taller state and he remained the same size. Then one morning he had somehow had a growth spurt, or as Jumba called it "A molecular change due every ten years." He had enjoyed the height, and he also enjoyed the fact that he could look her in the eyes again. Then this year, her 14th birthday had passed one week ago and his gift to her was a better concept of the English language, which she didn't expect but did enjoy. They occasionally talked in his native tongue of Turian, few words though, to hard for her to pronounce.
She watched as Stitch got off the floor, rubbing his nose. He looked cute with that expression on his face. Though she couldn't help but look at his other features, his fur, his claws, and his other appendages not seen. Questions had ran through her mind about if they could ever be together. "What if he wants another one like him, an alien." and "If he loves me like I love him." She had pictured what would happen if she tried to kiss him. First he would push her away and tell her that it could never be, and then Fred Krueger would come out through a hole in the floor and grab her leg with that clawed glove, dragging her down to hell. Those films where Stitchs favorites, from Nightmare on Elm Street to Freddy vs. Jason.
That was the most realistic of all that had piled into her mind. (This is of course Lilo were talking about.) and then the family came to mind. Jumba and Pleakly would support them, but Nani, she would be...well Nani. She opened her eyes to check and see if he was back on his cot, to her surprise he was towering over her bed. Does he know I'm awake?" She thought, she sat up to look at him, but he wasn't looking at her. Or maybe he was, he was staring in her direction but it looked like he was staring past her somehow. Maybe I can make this work. She thought.
"Stitch?" She asked, making her voice sound dull and tiring. "What are you doing?" She sat up, noticing his snap back into reality. She, of course, knew that if he was pushed into a corner than he would listen to any suggestion given too him. "Its the storm isn't it." He nodded his head. "You wanna sleep with me tonight?" She asked, going through the possibility's of tonight being the night she told him. The same question ran through her mind, and then the outcomes. "Yeah." He said. He said yes! She didn't expect him to say yes. She lifted her blanket and moved over to allow him to lay next to her.
He climb into the bed and pulled the blanket over him. Lilo cradled herself into his fur, hoping he could get a hint of her feelings before she would ask full out if he loved her like she loved him. His fur was warm for someone in a cold room. She always loved the way his fur felt, whether if it was when the hugged or when they did this. How often did we do this? She thought, going through her memories of the two together.
Boom!
Another sound of thunder ran across the room. Stitch jumped and fell off the bed, not without a fight. He grabbed her arm before he fell off, which she did like the feeling, she did not like what was probably going to happen next. He fell off the front of the bed, she rolled off the side. She closed her eyes and prepared to hit the metal floor. For some reason the floor seemed warm and soft. She opened her eyes to see Stitch, crouching by her side, his hands held her head above the floor. She could see a worried expression in his eyes. A feeling of guilt maybe? She knew he wanted to say something.
She had wanted a moment like this. A perfect one where there was no noise, no light, no movement, and no reality. All that existed was the two of them. She had known watching to many romance films had taken its affect on her. But not one of them involved an alien experiment. They stared into each other eyes for what seemed like forever. She had always wanted a different love story than the movies. From what she could remember about her parents they had told her stories of how they had accidentally kissed before they even knew each other, that all she could remember about the story. Not even a small detail on how it happened, but it did happen and she owed her existence to it.
"Sorry Lilo." He said getting up. No. This is to perfect to pass up. I have to at least try. But what if he pushes me away. She continued the argument in her head while he got to his feet. She reached out on an impulse and pulled his head back to her level, meeting him halfway. She kissed him, enjoying the path she took. Her thoughts of what would happen after this drifted out of her mind, and then slammed back into her head. For a second she could swear she heard an impact. She pulled away and looked into his eyes, she had heard that eyes were a window to the soul, his were just black.
"Sorry Stitch." She said looking at the floor, not daring to make eye contact. Maybe he doesn't know what that meant. She thought, remembering all the times he asked her what humans were doing. He stood up and held his arm out for her. She took his hand and got to her feet. It doesn't necessarily mean the end of the world, just mine. She felt his dull claws wrap around her waist and pull her in. A feeling of excitement washed over her. He brushed her hair out of her eye and kissed her. She was stunned, but she could care less. She could hear nothing but the sound of the rain hitting their metal roof.
They broke apart for air. Has he been practicing? She thought. She watched as his ears perked down. I sign of disappointment between the two. "Whats wrong Stitch?" She asked surprised that he would be disappointed after something like this had happened. "I love you Lilo." He said. She knew it wasn't the type of love they had for each other through the years. He suddenly pulled her back to meet his lips. She couldn't help but feel excited over how much the night progressed, just a few minutes ago she was scared to tell him her real feelings toward him. Now kissing each other was like a hobby. They broke apart again, giving her the chance to say it back. "I love you too Stitch."
They looked into each others eyes, neither said a thing. Sounds of tiny drops of rain hitting the roof.
I Love Stitch
He Loves Me Too
I Love This Night.
Boom!
It thundered as they looked through the window. "Remember that night?" She asked him as they leaned on each other. "How could I forget." He said grabbing her hand, feeling the cold metal of her wedding ring. His thoughts returned to the metal room he shared with her years ago. They watched as lightning struck from over the hills. Stitch turned to face her, to see her beauty, her eyes shined. They began to get closer, feel the warmth of her lips on his. "Get a room you two." A little girl said standing in the hallway. "Go to bed." They shouted to the little girl. She stuck her tounge out at them and ran to the back of the hallway.
"Their doing it again."
"Again."
They heard their two kids talk to each other.
Thanks for reading, and don't forget that Rain is just a state of mind.
