Just a short and sweet drabble.

There was possibly only one thing that Kai could agree to drop what he was doing, and satisfy the itching desire that dwelled subconciously; apple pie. It was one of the childhood longings that was never forgotten, or even cared to be, and when cinnamon and the sweet smell of freshly cut apples wafted through the house, Kai's inner kid tried breaking out. It wasn't often that the team would have sweets in the house, nevertheless bake them, and out of slight curiosity he stole a sneak into the kitchen.
He wasn't sure if he should be surprised or not to find the blonde baking, but he couldn't help but watch. Max slid the pie tin into the oven and took a step back, sighing with defeat with the amount of dishes he'd have to clean after so much work. He wiped his forehead with the back of his hand, rubbing flour accidently onto the skin and got to rinsing off the large bowl in the sink. It wasn't like Kai to watch the boy; but then again, it wasn't often that apple pie was baking and sending sweet waves of dizzying aromas around his head. Ones that were driving the teen absolutely crazy.
Gliding the sponge over the mess, Max checked the kitchen adsent mindly, as if he could feel Kai's stare on the back of his head; and caught his line of sight. "Oh," he was slightly startled, but smiled, "hi, Kai. What's up?"
Kai hadn't noticed he was leaning against the kitchen doorframe until he shrugged one shoulder. Was he being too casual? Straightening up immediatly, he crossed his arms and looked away, suddenly aware that Max was watching his failed attempt to be uncaring. The boy noticed. "Why are you so embarassed?," Kai wasn't embarassed he argued silently. Was he?
It was subtle, but surely his cheeks were reflecting what he was feeling; which he still didn't know what emotion could describe what was going on in there. Max never made him clam up or let his guard slip. "I'm not."
"Alright, " he smiled, turning back to the dishes, "you want some pie after its done? You know, before Tyson jumps on it."
Yes, yes and yes. "Sure."
Max looked over his shoulder, his bangs shifting so the ends balanced on his eyelashes. Kai couldn't help but stare. "You alright, Kai?," his lips were curved into into something between a smirk and pout, "you seem like you want to say something."
"I just," he paused to lick his lips, either out of subconcious by staring at the teen's mouth or the smells in the kitchen, "really like yo-, apple pie."
He grinned. "Sure. Apple pie."
