A/N= PGSM based. Let me know how bad it is first time writing one for PGSM. Flames are blocked and criticism is welcome and “great jobs” get thank you bows.

Disclaimer: Hate this. But I the first person owns no content of the characters being portrayed in this fanfiction and to sue me would be dumb because if I had wrote sailor moon then I would not be living in a apartment. Are we clear now?

Thank you.

Music Box

~0~

Part 1

The crisp air caressed her face as she stared down at the broken pieces. How different would things have been for her princess now if she had continued to let the music box play from Zoicite? The yearning in Usagi’s heart to be with her prince had broken her own reminding her of the love that had forgotten her. Her forgotten love…

A bitter laugh escaped her throat. Right here where she now stood Mars had told her that she had developed a distaste for the term “past life”. Did she still feel that way? Glancing back at the pieces Minako could only wonder why she had still kept them. Her mission was all that mattered then. It consumed her till it was too late and she was saved only because Usagi had restored the world as it should be. And look now at what she had lost.

Her lover and best friend.

Cest la Vie.

I want to keep loving you… C’est la Vie

Let’s keep living, keep running… C’est la Vie

I just want to keep running.

I want to run with Rei again.’

The water lapped at the sides of the building.

If it were me…. if the probability isn’t zero…. ….I’d undergo the surgery.”

Her voice still echoed in her head. It had been a year since she had seen the senshi of war. Not a day went by that she didn’t think of her Reiko. Rei had disappear after Usagi’s wedding and Usagi was the only one who did know where Rei was, but no matter how much the others begged their princess, for once, kept it a secret.

She blamed herself. She should of gone after her. That far away night Rei had wanted to talk but Minako wouldn’t hear a word of anything that the retired senshi of fire wanted to say. She was tired of fighting. She was tired of never getting her feelings across to the stubborn girl. She was tired of lying to herself saying that Rei didn’t matter and she didn’t care what Rei said.

She was a fool.

Rei, the next day personally delivered a letter to her. But what shocked the idol more was being eloped in Rei’s tight embrace. She allowed herself a moment to inhale the scent of her past lover before pulling away with the intention of putting Mars in her place before a pair of soft lips touched hers. The kiss was everything Minako remembered and more. Soft at first then turning more demanding as Rei coaxed Minako’s mouth open so she could probe every inch inside.

Slowly Rei backed away giving the idol a sad lopsided smile. Her dark eyes searched Minako’s own before she gave a defeated sigh and walked away.

She could still remember when she came to her senses and realized what had happened. Whipping out her Teletia S she called Rei but the miko wouldn’t answer. Next she tried Ami only she had no idea where Rei was. Makoto was next but that fared no better. After tossing the idea back and forth she finally called Usagi.

The chance that their princess knew the miko’s whereabouts were slim to none but she’d take the chance. Usagi told her that Rei had left. Where she wouldn’t say, only that Rei had been upset and didn’t want the others to know anything.

A single tear ran down Minako’s cheek. Rei had left to forget about her just like the music box in her hand had made Usagi forget Mamoru.

At home Minako laid in her bed propped up against the headboard as she opened the letter with shaky hands. She almost dreading the contents it contained.

The letter was simple and the penmanship perfect. It started to tell Minako how much Rei loved her. How she knew the day Minako died that there was someone she needed in her life. And that someone was her. Living with out her was worse than fighting with her. She couldn’t hold her silence any more and let what she felt stay hidden in darkness reaches of her heart. She may hate Minako’s life style but she would love her more than anyone ever could.

She remembered them together in the past. She didn’t want to pick up where they left off but she did want her heart to be complete. Rei promised that if Minako wanted nothing to do with her she would understand given their situation in this life. But she hoped and prayed that Minako would consider her in her heart.

Japan’s top idol had desired nothing more at that moment than to die.

Did Rei still have her farewell letter?

Did Rei ever think of her?

Minako could almost hear her rich voice in her mind.

What are you doing?

Opening her hand Minako hadn’t noticed that the fragments had been clenched tight.

“I don’t want to let you go Rei.” Minako muttered into the wind.

You don’t have to if you love me.

“Have you forgiven me? I-I” The tears spilled freely now to the idol’s mortification.

There is nothing to forgive. I love you, my Mi-chan.

Minako sank to the ground as her tears fell faster. Two arms encircled her holding her tight. Jerking her head back Minako found herself staring into the features of one Hino Rei. The former senshi gave a heart stopping smile before kissing the frozen idol hard.

Minako knew what to do this time.

The music box had stopped playing finally.
