Beetho: Tehe. Brainstorm! Key dokey now, just an FYI, I do play World of Warcraft to some extent. We currently do not have it right now cause of a conflict with our video card or something, so do not inquire me of this. To some extent, this is a onesided Xiaolin Showdown fanfic.
All knowledge of WoW was given to me by my little brother. Cause he knows all. XD So is something happens to be wrong . . . I’ll give you his youtube and you can spam him there. ^^
Xiaolin Showdown belongs to Christy Hui and WoW belongs to Blizzard.
WoW: Legend of Heroes
“Hey, Kimi, Master Fung said you have mail,” Raimundo said, peeking into his comrade’s cubical.
Kimiko sat curled up on her mat playing the latest version of her favorite hand-held game, Goo Zombies 9. She had been staring at the screen like a zombie herself until Rai walked in and interrupted her, than she looked up. In that split second, her game buzzed and she died.
“Dang it, no! It took me forever to get to level 8!” she whined, tossing her game onto her pillow.
“You’re already on level 8? Didn’t your dad like, just send that to you earlier this week? Man, you’re one serious gamer. . . .”
“So who’s it from?” Kimiko inquired. Rai scoffed and rolled his eyes. They walked together into the dining room where Omi and Clay were eating breakfast.
“Your dad, of course. It’s pretty big too,” he replied. “Any idea of what it might be? We’ve been dying to open it all morning, but Master Fung said to wait for you. If we’d known you had your eyes glued to your game, we would’ve already opened it.”
“Hm . . . well I have no idea. I didn’t get an email from my papa about a package. Usually he sends word first,” said Kimiko, tapping at the box sitting where her plate of food should’ve been. Omi jumped up onto the table and leaned onto the box, trying to get closer to Kim. He looked excited.
“Kimiko! I used the Falcon’s Eye to peek inside the box, and I am most confused. Open it up! I wish to see what wonders this contraption does! Like your others, I hope it is amusing and more appealing than doing chores and training,” he said as fast he could, still trying to finish chewing the French toast in his mouth.
“Alright, alright Omi. Calm down.” Kimiko took a butter knife on the table and gammed it into the taped crease of the box. Before she even opened it completely, Omi grabbed the open flaps and ripped the rest of the tape off.
Clay walked over from his licked-clean plate and looked over Kim’s shoulder. They stared down at black metal box with crystal blue snow marks and icicles on it. On one side of the thin consul was a human in tricked out mail armor, a mini person – like Omi – in a dark maroon cloak with glowing hands, and a strange elf looking being wearing Earthy colors. Standing opposite from them was a large green, muscular Orc, another seductive looking pink elf with in a red gown, and a skeleton with its arms raised and a light engulfing his boney hands.
In Styrofoam encasements were metal arches that connected to create a much larger circle. There was a plat form for the right to sit on and an owner’s manual.
Other than that, there were two helmets with black, see-threw screens that game down over the eyes. They, too, were black with blue on them. On each side of the helmets were two symbols: a coat of arms looking thing with a shield with a lion on it, and two arrows crossing underneath; and a shield looking thing with spikes protruding from it and a funny, more narrow, tricked out looking horseshoe with spikes. There were two pairs of black and blue gloves, as well.
“’World of . . . Warcraft: Legend of Heroes?’” Omi read off the manual. He picked it up and studied the graphic designs and drawings. “I have never heard of such a place . . . where is it?” he asked his friends.
Raimundo let out a sigh of disappointment and rolled his eyes. “Ay. It’s not an actual place Omi. World of Warcraft is a role playing video game for lazy people with no lives. I can’t believe you play this!” he said to Kim, looking at her quite annoyed.
“Raimundo, shut up. You don’t know what you’re talking about. And I’ve never played it before. This is just the newest version of the game – high tech, up to date, and with the best feature any awesome MMORPG could ever have – you can put yourself in the game and act out your interactions with these gloves. Thanks to the helmets, here, it makes you feel like you actually are exploring Azeroth,” Kimiko explained.
“Nerd.”
Omi looked at his two friends, severely confused. “I do not understand. What is a role playing game? And MMO what? Where is this Azeroth? Please, Kimiko, I need explanations!”
“Little partner, a role playing game is a game where you take on the role of another person. An older well known one is Dungeons and Dragons. World of Warcraft is played on the computer or this . . . doohickey thing, I guess. It’s supposed to be one of the best RPGs out there,” Clay explained.
“Yeah, and it’s MMORPG, Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. So you get to interact with people all over the world. And Azeroth is the name of the world in World of Warcraft,” Kimiko added. “C’mon Rai, help me hook it up.” She dug through the box and took out the metal arches.
“Pft, pass.”
“I’ll help, Kimiko,” Clay offered.
“Oh, oh, me too!” Omi said with excitement. They began to take out the pieces and connect them.
Raimundo sat on the dining table, watching his comrades work. Clay took out the two large parts that made the base and put them together using a special screw driver that came with the game. Kimiko and Omi worked at putting the ring together. It was a weird contraption; they had looked it up in the manual that they were putting together a holographic screen. When all the parts were put together and the machine was turned on, the ring sent signals back and forth across it to create a pixel perfect image for the players.
Setting it up was surprisingly easy. The final step was to place the thin black consul in the little dugout section on the base. It was the memory card and held all the information of the game on it. They plugged it up and turned it on.
A faint humming noise began and lights along the metal ring lit up, one by one, indicating that it was loading. An image began to form in front of the monks, and then it faded into the trailer for World of Warcraft: Legend of Heroes. The monks watched the screen intently, save Raimundo, amazed by the quality of the sound and animation. It was like nothing Omi and Clay had ever seen before. Raimundo, not much of a gamer, stared at the contraption and pretty colors, unfazed.
The trailer ended and the log in screen popped up, playing the signature instrumental Warcraft music.
“Account. . . ? Oh, um . . .” Kimiko trailed off. Suddenly her phone vibrated in her pocket. The caller ID read her dad. “Mushi, mushi, Papa! Yeah I got, and it looks totally awesome! Thank you so much! Uh huh . . . uh huh, alright. It says something about an account. . . . Really?? OMG, you’re the best! K, hold on. . . .” She jumped over the trash and peeked into the box the game came. “Found it.” Kim pulled out a smaller, thinner cardboard box and handed it to Omi for him to open it. It was a keyboard.
“Ok, so the username is ‘ttelectronics’,” she repeated, nodding over to Omi. He stared down at the keyboard hesitantly, studying the buttons. He found the t and worked his way from there. “K, and the password? Uh huh, ok. It’s ‘xmkb4eaa’,” she said to Omi. He looked at her oddly, then typed it in. “Ok . . . uh huh, yeah. Thank you so much again! We’ll love it, promise! Talk to you soon, love ya.”
Kimiko sat down on the floor next to Omi and Clay. They studied the screen carefully. It said that they were in the realm Scarlet Crusade and gave them the option to create a new character.
“I’m just gonna stick with this realm . . .” Kimiko said, more to herself. “Hey, after I create a character, you guys can create some if you’d like.”
“Oh, yes, I would very much like to create a character! I wish to master this game like your others!” Omi said with excitement. He watched his friend plop on the helmet and slip on the gloves.
As Kimiko put on the helmet, it was like the screen was right in front of her. It felt like she was in the computer itself, acting as a god, creating her being to role play as. The screen was all she could see, and the WoW instrumental music was almost all she could hear, besides the faint voice of Omi, still trying to talk to her. She felt so giddy with excitement.
Kimiko pointed her right index finger at the screen but nothing happened. . . . She tried again, and then waved her hand around in frustration. She moved to remove the helmet and see what was wrong, when suddenly the little cursor moved. The left hand was controlling it, which she found annoying, considering she was right handed. Kim removed the helmet and studied the gloves.
“What’s the matter?” Clay inquired, looking over Omi to her.
“These stupid gloves . . . they’re set left hand dominant.” Kim flipped her hands over and saw a button on the inside of the wrist of each glove. The left hand one glowed blue. “Ah.” She pressed down on the right hand glove’s button and unclicked the left hand’s and put back on her helmet.
That was better. Kimiko selected create a character. The selection of races was interesting. She could be a Human, Dwarf, Gnome, Night Elf, or a Draenei for the Alliance. As a Horde – which she didn’t intend on being – she could be an Orc, Tauren, Troll, Undead, or a Blood Elf. A Night Elf sounded cool, but she wanted to be mage; so she decided to pick human – obviously female. Kim changed the hair color to black, selected the style with the hair in the bun, and made a few modifications to the skin color, earrings, and facial expression. She of course named her character after herself.
There was a new feature: last names! :D Kimiko of course put her last name in. Go Tohomiko Electronics!
“Ok, who wants to go next?” she inquired. Omi shot up his hand.
“Me! Me! Me!” Kimiko handed him the gear.
Omi wiggled the helmet onto his head, which was just big enough to fit, and the gloves onto his hands, were almost too small to fill in the finger slots. He automatically went for a Gnome – male of course – being proud of his tininess. Once he scanned through the class profiles and looked through the Game Manual, he concluded the tough to kill warrior was best for him. After making modifications to the character, he finished up and named the Gnome after himself, no last name. Omi removed the gear and passed it on to Clay.
The cowboy took . . . twice as long as his two friends together to create his character. First he read the basic descriptions of each class in the manual, having already selected a male human. He considered a warrior, but a paladin or hunter jumped out at him more. The ability to resurrect friends and heal them sounded really nifty, but the idea of being able to tame animals as pets and use aspects to give him features of beasts sounded more related to his animal loving Earth element. He made a few modifications, going through each facial expression and other options twice before naming his character after him and finishing up.
“Raimundo, you wanna make a character?” Kimiko offered, holding out the gloves to him. He looked on at his friends boredly and shrugged.
“No . . . what I’d like to do is play some soccer before Master Fung makes us train,” he replied.
“If you say so, see you later than. Who wants to play first?” Kimiko said. Omi shot up his hand again, grabbed the second pair of the gear, and ran around to the other side of the holographic screen.
Rai glared at them, somewhat insulted that his friends would ignore him like that and turn their attention to some game. A one man game of soccer . . . that’s new, he thought gruffly.
(Beetho: Ok, so I’m not going to bore you with Kimiko starting off in Northshire or poor confused Omi starting off in Coldridge, as funny as that would be. For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about . . . why are you reading this?? Get WoW! I don’t play so much, but you all should.)
Raimundo practiced his footwork with his soccer ball outside. Playing alone wasn’t so fun. He kicked it around and head butted it several times before becoming bored. Out of frustration, he kicked the ball as hard as he could, not caring where it went. Rai plopped down in the grass and laid back. Five minutes felt like an hour.
As he finally closed his eyes, he felt his soccer ball roll back and tap his shoes. One eye opened and he parted his legs to see Master Fung standing a ways away.
“Why aren’t you with your friends, Raimundo? They look like they’re quite amused by the game Mr. Tohomiko sent. You should join them before we start training for the day.”
Rai sat up and sighed. “I’m not going to watch my friends slowly get sucked into an obsession over a pointless game that turns people into couch potatoes, nor will I take part in it.” He got up and held his soccer ball under his arms. “Master Fung, don’t you have a problem with that? Wouldn’t you rather have us doing chores or training than play some video game?”
“Raimundo . . . I think you are underestimating your teammate’s willpower. I do not believe that they will get sucked into an obsession as this one,” his master replied. “It’s merely a form of amusement. They’ll know when to stop.”
“Soccer is amusement. I’m sure to Omi training is amusing, or to Clay roping cows is. To Kim it’s video games. But this one is pointless! There’s no end to it! I’d rather live my life than play out some made up person’s life that doesn’t and will never exist!” Raimundo rambled.
“Well that is your opinion. I’m not suggesting you get addicted to the game, but if it’s a way to bond with your comrades, I think you should try it. You may be surprised to find out that you may’ve been wrong about this . . . Warcraft World,” Master Fung said, turning around and walking away.
Raimundo stood there for a moment. “I don’t know if that was an attempt at guilt tripping . . . or if he was trying to be all wise and master-like. . . .”
Beetho: End of first chapter. Like officially the rest of my fanfics, I don’t know if I’m going to continue this. I just thought it’d be amusing to do. No OCs, except for maybe a few WoW characters that my brother and I created. Yes, my brother and I mainly use Scarlet Crusades. Go Warlocks and Death Knights! I wonder if Rai’s outlook on the game will ever change. :D
Feedback much obliged.
