How long would I be grounded if I were to punch Charlie in the face? Probably for life. But the way he's been actively being a complete jackass to Edward would make it worth it, right? No, wrong. Gah.
"Well, Edward." Started Charlie, successfully ignoring my blazing glare. "I think it's high time for you to go home, your mother will be worried about you at this late hour." My. God. It's only just past ten!
Edward, the ever gentleman, gave a bright smile and a nod. "Yes, I believe you're right, Charlie. I would hate for my mother to worry about me." Gah, gah, double gah!
I walked with Edward to his Volvo where he enveloped me in his strong arms and kissed my forehead. "I'll be back when your father is sleeping, love." He muttered and in response I snuggled a little deeper in his marble chest. When I looked up I was struck by the deep purple shadows under his pitch black eyes. "Promise me something?" I asked, caressing the underside of his eye with my thumb. He nodded. "Go for a quick hunt, you look so thirsty." Again he nodded.
"I don't think kissing you right now is the best idea." He whispered and even though it was a disappointment I agreed with him. I watched him drive off with that well-known tightening of my chest and I had to remind myself that he would be back in a little while.
With a sigh I turned around and went back into the house, preparing myself to ignore Charlie. By the time I got to my bedroom I was in dire need of my man. Who wasn't there yet. Damn! Hunting must have taken longer than I had anticipated. In the meantime I decided to take a nice, long shower to loosen up the stiff muscles that Charlie consistently gave me.
EPOV.
I drove off, cursing myself for not being able to kiss my fiancé. But I really needed to hunt, the dull ache in my throat was becoming too much and I didn't want to be thirsty around my Bella.
Upon arriving home everybody was waiting for me. Apparently Esme had talked everybody into a group-hunt. Something about not having done a whole family hunt in a while. Who was I to pass up, especially since I was absolutely parched.
So without any further ado we shot into the woods and I was keeping my pace so my family could keep up with me. It wasn't long until we caught the scent of a herd of deer and we all exchanged glances, grins and we pounced on them. They were at a small lake with a waterfall, drinking, and they were caught of guard, making them boring prey. But they sufficed for now.
Just as we sank our teeth into their flesh, a vision from Alice flashed through my mind. It was chaotic, confusion, Bella crying and Bella running up to our house. After I dropped the carcass I turned to my little sister. "What was that about?"
Alice shrugged, "I don't know. It's confusing." She said tapping her chin, standing on top of her carcass, making for a weird visual of the seemingly so innocent little pixie and the drained deer under her spiked shoes. "Maybe I'll wait a while. Let the vision progress, it will become more clear over time." She said confidently before punching me in the shoulder. "The last one home is a rotten egg!" she shouted cheerfully and sped off, leaving everybody laughing in her trail.
Midrun I scooped her up and flung her on my back Bella-style. "I wouldn't want you to be the rotten egg!" I said and she giggled in response.
We were the first one in the house, followed seconds later by Jasper, then Emmett, then Esme and Rosalie and Carlisle came in together. "Looks like we've got two rotten eggs!" chuckled Emmett, earning a glare from his wife.
"Okay, I'm off." I said, turning around to leave to get to Bella, I missed her. That is when it hit me. My head started spinning and my legs felt like lead weights. I heard someone groan behind me before a heavy thud, someone fell and I couldn't turn around to see who it was. Another thud and another one. Then the ground came crashing towards me…
I know, I know. It's short but that's why it's a prologue! Have patience with me, the first real chapter will be following shortly!
