Only for a Day
by St. Chimaira

Lately Milo was so fed up seeing Sanctuary and its contents, which according to him were definitely irksome. Mostly for today: Athena asked him to keep staying in Sanctuary, while his best friend, Camus, was ordered to do something and therefore had to visit his hometown. Mu and Kiki was given a holiday to Jamir. Aldebaran and the Gemini twins would come back late for they had to accompany Lia and Loz to the town. Shaka didn't go anywhere, yet as usual he would stay with crossed-legs in his temple all day. DM was forced by Dite to escort him going shopping. Meanwhile Shura was busy searching for an eligible swordman that he also needed to go to the town till midnight. Never ask about what Dohko was doing: he must still hang out in front of Rozan waterfall.
Milo was left alone in Sanctuary then.
Bored.
He tried to sit comfortably on the couch. Couple minutes later he opened the magazine which formerly scattered on the floor, turning its pages for a while.
Bored.
"AAAAAAARGH!!! DARN!! WHERE'S EVERYBODY GOING?!!!" screamed the Scorpio Saint in frustration, throwing the magazine away from his hands.
"Ouch!!" there came a voice. Certainly the magazine has landed in somebody's face.
Milo was surprised and looking for the source of the voice. He was startled, being disbelieved of who he saw.
"Camus…? Wh…?" murmured Milo in confusion seeing his best friend standing at his temple's door.
"You shouldn't treat a book unrighteously; book is a very important root from which the wisdom in the world began!" said Camus's embodiment irritably.
"Camuuuuuus!! I'd thought you visiting Siberia! Was it cancelled?! You must go home because of missing me…!" Milo immediately jumped and hugged his best friend till both of them fell and rolled on the floor.
"Cough!! Dusts! Didn't you ever clean this floor?" the Aquarius saint got annoyed that he had to speak harshly.
"I'll clean it, I promise!" Milo hugged the helpless Camus more and more devotedly. Unexpectedly his best friend replied his hug as tight.
"I desperately long for you too," he said.
Pity, the words were as thin as the wind. It wasn't heard by Milo.
"Come! Let’s sitting here! I want to share all my thoughts! I'm bored," Milo woke up and pulled Camus's hand. The young man only looked at Milo with slight smile till finally they sat on the couch.
"So?" asked Milo lightly.
"What 'so'? It's you who want to share your thoughts."
Milo frowned his forehead hearing his best friend's answer. "None at all, it's just…I wonder why you get a bit talkative, not as cold as you usually are. And since when you got short-sightedness? Why are you wearing glasses?
"Uh? This? I've just read something…forgot to take it off," Camus took his glasses off and put it on Milo's table.
"Oh… By the way, how's your trip to Siberia? Why is it so fast? Were you teleported by Mu? What task Athena gave you? Was it hard? Is it still frosty there?" asked Milo again without any fullstops.
For some moments Camus only blinked, feeling the difficulties of answering Milo's shinkansen-length questions. "Sorry?"
"Why you returned so fast? How about the task in Siberia?"
"Fine," answered Camus shortly.
"No problem?"
"Not at all."
"How's Hyoga?"
"Hyoga?"
"He's too in Siberia, isn't he? Oh…I wonder you were so busy that you forgot your own disciple…"
"He's alright."
"Is there something exciting? Gossip maybe? Tell meeee!"
"None at all."
"Oh…," Milo only nodded repeatedly hearing his best-friends super short answers.
While the other only gazed on the Scorpio Saint steadily.
Being aware of the weird gaze, Milo set back slowly. "Camus, why're you smiling like that? So scary," Milo frowned his eyebrows.
"Hmm? No…I only feel blissful of gazing at you," he answered without letting go his sweet smile.
"GYAAAAAAA!!! Stop saying something like that! I get shivered!" screamed Milo hysterically, while the young man only laughed slightly.
Milo's eyebrows got more and more narrowing. "Camus…?"
"What?"
Silence.
"K…forget about the sharing. How about some sightseeing today?" Milo stood up instantaneously and stretching his body. "I want you to pay; you've left me for some days."
Milo saw Camus nodding. "Good idea. I'm getting bored myself."
"Huh? It's not usually happens, an ice cube like you getting bored. I'm changing then," Milo ran to his room and changed his clothes as fast as possible, while his best friend took care of Milo's books which spread on the floor, ordering them one by one in tidiness.
"Scorpios…all are just the same jumbled," he exhaled. He got more shocked when finding some series of adult magazines. He could only sigh.
At that moment, a photograph suddenly fell from one of Milo's magazines.
Inside the picture two youngmen are standing together and looked straight to the camera. A blue-haired young man encircled his hand around the green-haired young man enthusiastically. Both were smiling sweetly without any burden.
His tears unexpectedly fell.
"I long for you…," he said tenderly, taking the photograph and hugged it.
"Camuuus!!! I'm done! Cool, huh! Come on!" Milo exited his room and showed his new jacket off.
The other immediately swept away his tears and smiled at Milo, returning the photograph between the magazines.
"Good. Let's go…"
The best friends then went sightseeing in the town. As usual Milo was awfully noisy when stepping on the roads, while the young man beside him simply walked calmly.
"Camus, where do you want to go?! Me want to go to the hobby shops, pet shops, and buying some ice creams," Milo encircled his hand around his best friend's shoulders devotedly, guiding him to walk faster and escorting his light steps.
"I want to go to the library."
"Huuuh? Are you serious? It'll cause us drowsy. Why not shopping mall instead?"
"You should read scientific books more, not the lemon one!" teased the Aquarius coldly.
"Hehehe…did you see it? It's a kind of knowledge indeed. Anyhow most of my collection has been burnt by you. You're so often penetrating my temple for sure."
"Really?"
"Why you need to ask me? But I myself too often enter your room without any permission. By the way, what about going to the bookstore? I won't be sleepy there. Please!!!"
"Alright…," finally he gave up and letting the young man with curls pulling him to enter a big bookstore. Milo was busy in comic section after seeing Camus stopped in the astronomy one.
He saw the books he'd never seen visually before, though literally they had the same essence. Suddenly his eyes caught the closest shelf. In front of him there was a thick red book talking about Scorpio constellation. His delicate long fingers reached the book slowly and his eyes gazed on it more thoroughly. Before he had any chance to read it, Milo had returned disturbing him.
"Camuuus!! I want to buy all these! Come on, to the cashier!"
He saw Milo's hands were full of comics, starting from the adventure one, detective, romance, until tokusatsu. He could only raise his eyebrows.
"What do you buy?" asked Milo.
"I…no…"
"Why? Come on, just buy it! I'll give you a treat!" said Milo enthusiastically. "Today I'll give all treats. We so rarely walk together like this."
"I'm sorry…actually I want us to walk together more often…"
Milo looked at Camus who gazed at him in sadness.
"Ah! This one will do!" Milo soon grabbed the red book in Camus's hand and immediately ran to the cashier. In minutes, the blue-haired young man has returned in front of him.
"Here, take care of it well!" said Milo with short breaths, handing the book into Camus's arms.
"Do you know what book is this?"
"Of course I do. I own it myself, but the Aquarius series."
"Why didn’t you buy the book about your own constellation?"
"Because I want to know about my best friend more than I want to know about myself. Hopefully with that book, you can also know me more."
"I'd thought you're only able reading lem—"
"Whah! Don't jute the book by the cover! I know lots about book, excluding my outer feature."
"You mean don’t judge the book by it's cover," Camus corrected him flatly.
"Ah, it's only an error of pronunciation," laughed Milo.
Seeing his best friend laughing, Camus was chuckling as well, though not as noisy as Milo
"Thank you," he gazed on the beautiful red book with the words "Scorpio Constellation" in his hands.
“Now let’s go to the park, I want to buy ice cream," asked Milo keenly. Without waiting for any answer, Milo has successed pulling Camus into a tranquil park with many huge trees.
"This is my favorite place, quiet, comfortable, and the ice-creams are good."
Both of them now were standing in front of the ice-cream saler's car.
"I'll pay," said Camus.
"Eh? Naah, I've told you I'll give you all treats."
"Don’t be stubborn! You've bought me a book."
"You've accompanied me going sightseeing."
"You've agreed going to the bookstore."
"You've helped me bringing all of my comics!"
"Don't be stubborn, or I won't eat any ice cream."
“Aaaargh!!! Alright, alright, is it fine?"
"I'll be okay, Athena's given me some money for I've done my task well. This time I'll treat you."
The defeated Milo nodded. Then they concentrated on the flavour and topping they want to eat.
The tranquil ambience made the green-haired lost. His eyes were only gazing at the blue-haired young man who has stolen all his attention.
Wonderful.
Too wonderful. Too close. That was the thing flashing in his mind. All these times he had never realized the being in front of him was really a treasure—even though both of them have been friends since their childhood. They practiced everyday, even accomplished Athena's order as one. Yet…
“Camus! Oi? Are you lost?"
"Oh…sorry, Kard. What flavour do you prefer?"
Milo turned silent hearing Camus's offer.
Realizing his fault, the Aquarius saint turned silent as well.
"I'm sorry, I mean…what flavour do you prefer?" asked the green-haired young man nervously.
Milo kept silent.
Seeing it made him losing all words. He could only stare on the ground.
"I know…," said Milo then.
Slowly he encouraged himself to looked at Milo.
"I know you aren’t Camus."
Once again they gazed at each other for quite long time…until Milo began to smile widely and breaking the ice. "I want chocolate, strawberry, and banana flavour. I'll wait you on that bench!" Milo immediately ran to the closest bench and waving his hand from the distance.
After paying the ice cream, he walked to Milo who has sat and waited.
"Here…"
"Thanks," Milo soon licked his ice-cream. The day has turned dim, and left both of them alone in the park. They only sat sideways in silence. One day almost ended.
"Ummm…"
"Milo," cut Milo soon. "My name is Milo of Scorpio."
"I'm…Aquarius Degel," he said, being careful in mentioning the word "Aquarius". "Milo, since when…"
"I've suspected it since you came to my temple."
"Then why…"
Milo only gazed on the young man beside him, who has ran out off words. The young man hasn’t ate his vanilla ice cream until it began to melt. Without any doubt, Milo reached Degel's hand and ate the ice cream which made Degel's soft fingers dirty. "You should eat it. It won’t taste good when it's melting," Milo smiled and licking the ice cream left on his lips. Seeing Milo's innocence, Degel smiled as well.
"I was uncertain at first, but I felt there's Camus inside you. That's why I'm sure you've got strong reason about why you're imitating him," Milo licked his ice cream again.
"I'm not imitating him, this is the way I am…"
"I believe it," said Milo again.
Afterwards none of them having any courage to begin the conversation until their ice cream drained. The stillness once again became the visible barriers. Their gazes were only focusing on the ground, the trees, the stars, the nightsky, anything but their sides.
"Forgive me," Degel's soft voice destroyed the silence between them.
"What have you done?"
"All. All is my fault. If only it was me who fought Rhadamanthys…if only I didn’t ask you to accompany me to Bluegaard…if only…"
Degel's tears fell once again.
"Ssshhh...," Milo hugged Degel who was only bowing his head and crying without any sound. The handsome young man covered his full-of regret face with his long green fringe.
"Kardia of Scorpio, I even haven't told you that I care about you, you are the best friend of all…"
Hearing it, Milo could only tighten his hug,
"Go on…I'm listening to you…," said Milo quietly.
"I truly care about you…. Forgive me I was so seldom visiting your temple… Forgive me we were so rarely saying hi to each other… Forgive me… Forgive me… I'm the selfish one…I…"
"Don’t you know that we are indeed destined to be together?"
Degel was confused hearing Milo's voice, but he kept quiet.
"Don’t you realize that we are indeed destined to meet each other? Or was it no one telling you about that?"
Degel was still quiet, still didn’t understand the question the Scorpio saint addressing.
"Degel of Aquarius, look at me…," Milo reached Degel's face and insisted him to gaze on him. "Don't you realize the colour of your eyes fits with the colour of my hair? Don’t you realize the colour of my eyes fits with the colour of your hair? And it's not a coincidence."
Degel could only mesmerized by Milo's words, something he had never realized before.
"Did he ever told you he was regretting staying with you, or regretting protecting you?"
"But…"
"It was him who asked you to leave, wasn't it? There was another important thing you had to do."
Degel nodded weakly. His tears flew more heavily. This time Milo was crying as well and the two saints were hugging each other tightly…
“With the remains of my strength I made a request to Athena in order I can see you again," whispered Degel.
"I feel so lucky to meet you, Degel."
"But one day has ended. We have to say goodbye, Milo of Scorpio."
"Wait, can’t you…"
"No. My agreement with Athena only lasted for a day. This is not where I belong, but I feel blissful to have seen you again, my Scorpio. My dearest friend," Degel began to loosen his hug.
"I will always be your best friend. Camus of Aquarius's best friend."
"Even though I'm an ice block?"
"I will liquefy you."
"Even though I'm cold?"
"I will warm you up. I will always be the best for you. Preventing you to be lonely. I make my promise," said Milo entrusting.
"Thank you…now I have to go."
"But—"
Milo's protest evaporated when Degel's soft lips touched his forehead. Milo's tears fell again…
"I'll always long for you…," said Degel again.
Afterwards the green haired young man was really faded from Milo's sight.
***
"Degel? Is it over?"
"I give you big gratitude, Athena-sama. Everything is over. Thank you for giving me this treasured one day," said Degel, kneeling in front of Athena.
"Because you are not a living being, I cannot give you more than a day. I'm sorry I can't give you much. Are you alright with this?" Athena looked at him in doubt,
Degel gazed at the red book in his hands. Afterwards he turned to Athena again and nodded.
"I don't know how to thank you, Athena-sama. But Milo…"
"You don't have to worry. I'll erase Milo's remembrance that when he wake up tomorrow, he won’t recall anything happened today. Now he's returned to his temple."
"I treasure all of your decision. Forgive me for being selfish and asking this."
"Farewell, Degel of Aquarius…"
"Farewell, Athena-sama."
The handsome young man finally vanished from Saori's sight.
And that night, Milo slept so soundly with hugging Degel's glasses.

"Hey, you're home?! Welcooooome!!!"
Camus's steps stopped seeing Milo standing in front of his temple, wearing apron, hair bandana, and holding a broom.
"What are you doing?" asked Camus in wonder.
"Cleaning your temple, though your temple is cleaner than mine…"
"Wasting time," Camus entered his temple indifferently without caring about Milo.
"Aaargh! I've spend my time saying 'welcome', answer it with 'I'm home' or something!" Milo grumbled, running after Camus and pulling his cloak.
"I'm not interested, I'm not your husband. Hey! Don’t pull my cloak!"
"No! Until you say 'I'm home'!! I've waited for you for days, don't you know that?!"
"What’s wrong with you anyway?! Let me—aargh!!" the cold bloke unintentionally stepped on something on the floor and fell down. Milo which stood right behind Camus and fell as well.
"Ouch…Camus! Be careful!" Milo rubbed his head which knocked on the floor, grimacing.
"Sorry," feeling regretful, Camus finally rubbed Milo's head too.
"What book is it? Why putting it messily?' Milo pointed the old red book which has been in Camus's hands. Camus only raised his shoulders.
"Scorpio Constellation…," said Camus flatly.
"What??? Where??? Let me see!!" Milo soon grabbed the thick book from his best friend's hand. "Impossible!"
"What impossible? The book is yours?"
Milo immediately shook his head very fast.
"I have this book, but the colour is yellow. And mine is not Scorpio, but Aquarius," sait Milo.
Camus frowned his eyebrows. "Why don’t you buy the book about your own constellation?" asked Camus in confusion.
Milo was startled hearing Camus's words.
“Why I feel like getting a de ja vu?" Milo tried to think hard.
Camus once again gazed on the book for a while, then took it from Milo's hand. Both of them stood up after cleaning the remains of dusts from their clothes. Without waiting any longer, Camus walked to his room.
"Huh? Won’t you throw the book away?"
"I don’t know whose book is this and where it came from, but if it exists in my temple, then it must a precious one."
Camus stopped for a while and looked at his best friend who still stood frozen, staring at him.
"I'm home, Milo."
