As the sun rises on the eastern coastline, a fifteen year old Edward rolls over. He glanced at his cell phone, which was beeping loudly. He flung his arm out and grabbed the noisy thing, then flipped it open to turn off the alarm. After shutting it off, he rose from bed and shuffled out of his room and across the hall into the bathroom. Fifteen minutes and a shower later, he strode back into her room. His phone was once again going off. This time, there was a text that said his best friend was going to be there in fifteen minutes; The text had come ten minutes ago. That gave him five minutes to get dressed and clean up the house a bit. Waking up his younger brother, Al, and Winry, he scurried around cleaning and picking up anything that was out of place. About ten minutes later, a car pulled up in the driveway. He ran out to greet the people in the car. When he got out there, he saw four people. There was his best friend, Rose, standing by the driver’s side of the red car. Climbing out of the passenger side was Rose’s younger brother, Kiruma. Out of the back doors were two people who he didn’t recognize. Swinging open the gate, he ran over to Rose first and enveloped her in a gigantic hug. Then he ran around the car after releasing Rose and hugged Kiruma next. After this, he ushered everyone inside. He sat everyone at the dining room table while he made a pot of coffee.

“Wow, so busy already this morning, Ed?” Rose asked.

“Well, I only woke up about twenty minutes or so ago.”

“I didn’t wake you up did I?”

“Nah, I had to get up early anyway. Cleaning and whatnot to surprise Mom and all.”

“Ah…that’s better than lazing around I guess.”

“Are you kidding? I hate to clean.”

Ed smirked at his friends’ expressions. A few minutes later he was being introduced to the two strangers her friends had brought with them. One, a boy with long black hair with a slight green tone and amethyst eyes, was introduced to him as Envy Culus. The other boy, who had golden blond hair and flax colored eyes, was introduced as Pride Culus. It was still too early for his brain to be working correctly, so he decided to let his entourage go through some old pictures and some drawings that he had done years before. Three hours later, Ed was sitting outside on a swing while Rose, Kiruma and Pride went to the store. Envy had stayed behind in favor of torturing a rabbit with a carrot.

“So, chibi, what’s it like living here in Florida?” Envy asked, sitting next to him in the swing.

“What the crap does chibi mean?”

“It means small and/or cute. I’m using it in the cute reference for now.” He slung his arm over the back of the swing and crossed his left ankle over his right knee.

“Oh. Well, Florida’s not that bad, I guess. I mean, one thing I don’t like is that all of my siblings live all over. And my birth parents probably still live in Arizona, so I’d like to go there. Then again, I want to live in Texas, like you and Rose do.”

“Whoa, whoa, wait a sec. You’re adopted?” Envy interrupted him.

“Yeah. Rose didn’t tell you?”

“Nope.”

“Oh. Well anyway. Florida sucks since Rose lives in Texas, but I have a few friends here. Plus, my brothers and sister-like people.”

“Heh?!”

“Well, most of them are only half-siblings, and one of my brothers and one of my sisters are full blood related to me. Al and Winry are my full blood siblings. My two other brothers, Wes and Retta, live down south. Wes lives with his Dad, and Retta lives with our birth parents. Retta is the youngest. He’s the only one of us who wasn’t adopted. The rest of the kids either were adopted out, or went to live with their birth mother or father.”

“How many of you people are there?”

“Well, there’s ten of us who are related by this lady, Jacky, who is my birth mother, and I don’t know how many are related to us by Rark, my birth father.”

“I see.” Envy looked around. There was a rabbit hopping around in the yard, and Ed’s German Sheppard was laying on the porch in a patch of sunlight.

“So do you have any siblings?”

“Yeah, six of them. All named after the sins. My mother is insane, I swear Pride‘s my second youngest brother.” Envy pulled his knees up to his chest.

“Cool, I guess.”

“So, what was one thing you would love to have?”

“I want to be able to go back to eighth grade, to be able to not care what everyone thought.”

“Why is that?” Envy looked over and gave him a confused look.

“Long story, and I bored you enough with my story of my extended brothers and sisters.” Ed pulled a leaf off of a nearby bush. He began to pull it apart.

“Maybe I’ll beat it out of you then?” Envy asked jokingly.

“I doubt it. I do martial arts. I could probably get you on the ground in a matter of seconds.”

“Care to test that theory?”

“No.”

Ed smirked at Envy’s face. He got up and walked over to the door. Envy followed. When they walked in, they saw Al and Winry sitting at the table eating breakfast. They looked up from their cereal, then continued eating when they saw it was just Ed and Envy. Walking into the living room, Ed motioned for Envy to sit on the couch.

“What do you want to watch?” He asked Envy.

“Meh…I don’t care.”

Ed began to flip through the channels. After surfing for a few minutes, he decided on watching the reruns of one of her favorite shows: Naruto. Envy groaned, but after the first episode he could hardly sit still long enough for the opening to play for the next episode. After another couple of hours, the group of Ed, Rose, Kiruma, Envy, Pride, Al and Winry found themselves at Chiga’s Buffet. They were there to see Ed’s mother, Trisha, and of course, to have some lunch. After introductions, they started to talk about what they liked and disliked.

“Me? I hate spiders. And I strongly dislike jocks. Also, I can’t stand the word ‘saturated.’ But what I can’t stand the most are cancer sticks, posers and my friends ignoring me.”

“Is there anything you do like?” Envy asked.

“Umm, I like blood and torture? I love anime. And my laptop. I like you guys too.”

“Good point.” Envy grabbed a shrimp off of Ed’s plate.

“Hey!”

“You just said you liked me. Well, I like your shrimp.” He popped it into his mouth.

After finishing their lunch, the group decided to go to the mall and hang out for a while. Al, Envy, Ed and Kiruma went off one way, and Rose, Ed and Winry went another way.

“Why so quiet?”

“I don’t talk much nowadays.”

Ed rarely had a conversation with anyone. The reason for that is because most of the people he knew had tried to hug him or something, and his biggest pet peeve was for people to tough him. Only a select few could hug him without getting yelled at. Ed loved solitude, and normally wouldn’t talk to someone unless it was necessary.

“Why not?”

“I just don’t like people. I guess you could say that people scare me.”

“Oh….‘kay?” Rose looked confused.

Truth is, the thing Ed loved to do the most was draw. Everyday, he would doodle on his class notes, in the margins of his books, on anything he could find. Most of the time he found himself drawing faces or hearts. Each time he drew something, everyone praised him. But then, he would get shy and just kind of sit there, not really doing anything while everyone got a chance to look at it.

“Well, where to first?” Ed tried to break the awkward silence.

“How about F.Y.E?” Winry asked.

“Sounds good to me.” Rose said.

After an hour of shopping in F.Y.E, they rendezvoused with the guys at the food court. After taking a quick browse in Hot Topic, they piled back into the truck they had borrowed from Ed’s father, Hohenheim, they went down the road to the movie theater. They decided to see the new GI Joe movie. They settled into the theater where the movie was playing and waited for it to start.

“I want a car like that!” Ed said when a black camaro flashed across the screen.

“Ed, those cost so much money!” Rose said.

“Still, don’t you want one?”

“Eh, not really.”

“Anyway, be quiet and watch the movie.”

Ed did as she was told. After the movie was over, the entourage of teens drove back to Ed’s house. By the time they reached the house, it was seven o’clock at night. They decided to play truth or dare.

“Okay, truth or dare Envy?” Rose asked.

“Dare.” Envy said.

“Okay… I dare you to sit on Ed’s lap for the remainder of the game.” Kenna smirked evilly.

“Done.” Envy crawled over to Ed and sat on his lap. “My turn. Ed, truth or dare?”

“Truth.” Cassy didn’t want to do dare because she knew Envy would more than likely make her do something weird.

“Aw, no fun. Oh well. What do you want to be when you grow up?”

“An exotic animal veterinarian. My turn now?” Envy nodded.

“Okay, Rose. Truth or dare?”

“Dare.”

“Okay, I dare you to pretend to be a dog.” Ed giggled when Kenna listened and began to sniff around and walk on her hands and knees.

“Okay, okay enough. Your turn.”

The game went on like that for about another hour or so, until everyone got tired. Then, after everyone figured out where they were going to sleep, the group laid out to watch a few movies until they fell asleep. It took three horror movies and Alice in Wonderland for everyone to fall asleep. And just as the sun was beginning to rise the next morning, Ed rolled over and woke to find himself falling off of his bed and onto the floor, which was actually a certain black-haired teen named Envy.
