TO THE SKIES
CHAPTER
I

Setzer Gabbiani, long lost son of the late Sir Cid Gabbiani of Fynn was sitting at the table, waiting on two people. His silver hair was loosely braided back and away from his pale face and hazel eyes. He was dressed in all black and flipping a double-headed coin between his long fingers. Sitting across from him was pink haired girl. Her hair was curly and in pigtails. Her eyes were pure sapphires in ivory skin. She was wearing a sparkling violet tunic with flaring white sleeves, white leggings, boots, and gloves. A whip was coiled and clipped to her belt.

"Which do you think will come first? Airship or our mysterious guest?" she asked.

"I would say the word on our airship will come first, Fae Radiance," Setzer answered.

"You're on..." Fae said, slapping down fifty gil.

Setzer put his fifty gil up.

As fate would have it, Setzer won. The engineer, a tanned-skin girl with dark brown and short hair, rushed in. She wore a black and white bustier and lace skirt, white leggings; thigh-high, lace-up boots and gloves, and a puffy hat. A utility belt was around her hips carrying an assortment of tools. Her tanned face was a bursting red. Setzer grinned at the girl and Fae groaned, pushing the gil to him.

"Setzer!! You busted the engines I worked so hard to build!!" the engineer shrieked. "You're a dead man!!"

"Be quiet Kat, you'll wake our guest before Auntie finishes stitching her head," Setzer said.

Kat growled and sat down in a chair. A silvery, serpentine dragon drifted in and wrapped herself around Fae's neck. Fae smiled and raised the net's head to nuzzled her cheek against it. The creature let out a musical purr. Setzer grinned and Kat hit her head on the table. The door upstairs opened and Auntie came downstairs. She looked toward her nephew and foster daughters.

"The young miss is awake now," she announced.

"Wonderful," Setzer said.

They ascended the stairs and entered the room where a girl with platinum blond hair looked so dreadfully lost and confused. She was sitting on the side of the bed in a white dress that fell around her knees and blue bustier, slippers, and long gloves. Her sapphire eyes looked toward the people who had taken her in. Her skin was so smooth and fair and white as ivory. Setzer drew in a breath, stunned by the young woman's beauty.

"Hi, I'm Fae," the summoner began. "What's yours? And do you remember much?" she asked, standing in front of the guest.

"Celes Lightna," the girl replied. "I'm 18-years-old and come from Fynn. I know how to fight with a sword, bow and arrows, and my bare hands. I can also use white magick, but I can't remember much other then Cure, Protect, and Shield. I know if I think about them, they'll come back to me. Other then that, I have amnesia."

"Don't worry, you'll get your memories back," Fae assured her. Setzer walked over.

"Hello," Celes greeted.

"I'm Setzer Gabbiani. If you need anything, let me know."

"Thank you. But I don't wish to be a burden."

"As if you haven't been already," Kat grumbled.

Celes looked at the floor.

"Don't mind my engineer Kat, she's just mad that the engine on my airship got busted," Setzer said assuringly.

"Is there any way I can help?" Celes asked.

"If you can accompany us to Semitt Falls to collect mythril," Setzer laughed.

"I've been there hundreds of times!" Celes said.

"Seriously?" Setzer asked.

"Yes, my father would take me to train there when I was little," Celes answered. "Unfortunately..."

"You can't remember your father's name or what he looks like," Setzer finished.

Celes nodded sadly. "I think I have two younger siblings. Twins. One boy and a girl. Wizards."

Setzer grinned. "Slowly but surely, you are getting your memories back," he said. "We leave at dawn."

They all nodded in agreement.

Celes and Setzer: My fav FF6 pairing. Now, if you have read the first book in this series, I'll have mentioned in, if I am correct, Chapter 4 that there will be characters from other Final Fantasy games, only they won't be the people you think you know. Celes and Setzer are a very fine example in this story.

Fae: Now, Fae is a rather unusual character and a lot like Rydia from FF4 in some ways. Fae is a word meaning Faeries. Her whole name is Faerie Radiance. Now, until I am completely sure of something, I might name her father in book three instead of making book 3 about Celes's younger siblings and their quest. Until further notice, Fae's father will remain unknown.
