The God Slayer
Author of 8 Stories

Rated: T - English - Adventure/Romance - Terra & Edgar - Reviews: 36 - Updated: 12-18-09 - Published: 09-19-09 - id:5387719

I decided to remake "Say It Sight" because the old one was my tester. Seeing how good I can write and to be honest...I didn't push too much of my writing into it. I put all that into my novel. I'm gonna try my hardest on this remake. But don't worry, it will be relatively (a lot!) more different-o than the first. I'll be changing Brendan's age though, to match the story better and so he has some real solid plot in it. His name will be Benjamin "Cornelius" Figaro and that Edgar was 24 when he had his first kid, making him 43-45 in the beginning of this. But, I will keep the old one up (no matter how embarrassing it is with all the errors.) as well.

Characters: Emma "Aria"Aden Figaro, Cambyses "Demetre" Roni Figaro. Benjamin "Cornelius" Maduin Figaro. Alex [was Irvine] "Seonaes" Gabbiani, Calixto "Markus" Gabbiani, Ajax "Derek" Gabbiani.

Well, enjoy the first chapter to the remake of "Say It Right"! And remember, this will in fact be different and way better than the first! Think of it as a `NEW’ story. Please review and tell me if it is better than the first!

Leaderships, Cruelty and Fun?

It was cold and dark when the Figaro gates closed. No one made a sound, left their wonderfully warm homes or even discussed what had happened about Cefca. The towns people of Figaro never really understood the magical war, nor the splendid team that delivered the peace to Gaia, yet they acted as though Cefca just disappeared from sight, leaving them alone for good. Yet in the schools across Figaro, they taught the children what really happened. That the fourteen people who gave the final blow to the evil clown that held them under his shoe, were made up of people who just like them, hated the empire for the evil wrongs they did to them.

It all began with a thief who saved a certain witch from death, brought her to Figaro, then helped her search for herself. At the very end, the witch known as Terra finished off Cefca and gave the people of Gaia their peace, their lives and food, brought the balance of power back to normal. Yet, the king of Figaro knew there would be people who wanted that power, he kept the secret of his lovely wife Terra, having the magical power back. The two of the three lucky children who were brought up under this man's guidance were coming home from their school.

---

The wind brushed pass the gawky young man with blond hair. His dark Prussian blue eyes were shining brightly as he began to gloat about the girls and everyone at their school, loving him to his little sister. As an opposite to her older brother, the girl had mint green hair with mixed eyes colors from Prussian blue to the enchanting purple color her mother had. She was short compared to her brother, standing about rib length to his six foot two brother. Her face was pale but her cheeks were as dark as rubies stones. Her hair was clipped up on the left side by a hibiscus hair clip and wore a long, flowing celery green sundress with little brown sandals. Her brother wore a tight, thin black sweater with a slit down from the neck to the tip below his collar bone. He wore black pants - much like his father's - and his hair was long. It was tied up by a black ribbon.

The boy smirked as he gave his books to his sister to hold, although she didn't want them. "Its nice when the whole academy talks about father." the young man yawned, stretching. The way he said father made the girl think he thought of him as his own father and that he belonged to no one else. The girl frowned.

"...And mom, right?" she asked, with a weak tone. He laughed.

"Of course! After all, mom did save the planet. They can never really get enough of her." The young man rubbed his neck. "all the attention they were giving me! Especially the girls!" he smirked, clearly proud of himself. The girl rolled her eyes.

"Cambyses, you think of yourself way too much." she giggled at his red face, but he shrugged.

"At least I can think about something other than studying and being perfect, Em-duh." The girl growled.

"Emma!" she snapped, her eyes fierce with rage.

"Emma!" he shouted in a mock tone, laughing when her face became cross. She punched his arm but he laughed it off. "What was that?" he asked as they entered the court yard to Figaro. A maid was making his way over, exhausted.

"Young Master Cambyses, your father and mother wishes to see you at the throne room. Make haste." before he turned, Emma stuttered.

"-And me?" she asked. The maid nodded and hurried off.

-----

"Yes father, mother?" Cambyses asked as he and Emma entered into the room. The tall woman with mint hair turned and smiled, walking over to hug them. Terra frowned.

"Where's Ben?" she asked, looking about. A 17 year old boy hurried down stairs, shoving his head through a new blue shirt.

"Here!" he shouted as he jumped - rather pushed - in front of Emma. Terra pinched his cheeks and kissed them, and than Camb's and Emma's.

"Aren't you all the cutest!" Camb and Ben blushed, Emma smiled as Terra hugged them again. "Your father wants to talk with us all in the throne room. Come on Ben --no Ben, over here! - what a silly boy." she shook her head and took his hand. "Come come children!" she opened the door for them and they all hurried in, taking their seats on soft brown chairs around a small circle table. Edgar came in through the back, shouting to the workmen about a auto piloting ship for both water and air. He smiled fondly at his gathered fair of a family and sat, coughing into his hands, he looked at the set of eight eyes and laughed softly.

"As you all may know, my annual dinner with the Returners is tomorrow night. Some of you weren't here the last few times they were here," he looked at Emma, who had taken the last seven summer vacations on a academy in Thamasa with over 1000 guards protecting her. She was studying the art of the body, soul, mind and landscape. Her most talented ability lied in her Pianist skills. That's over 21 months away from home in total (Writer here: Right? Is that right? Its a bit late here lol).

"I'd like my little girl," he smiled at Emma and she tried to hide a blush. "to finally meet my friends, because the seven vacations of absence, I'd love for her to get to know them." Edgar sighed as he leaned back. "Also, I will be announcing something very important and I want everyone to be clean, polite and presentable; I do not want to be embarrassed." the king gave his second son a look that made Ben smile.

"I'll be clean!" he promised, getting up to go back to his room. Camb crossed his arms behind his head.

"Alright. I'm heading to bed, big test coming Monday and I'll need ALL the rest I can get!" he hurried to his room. Emma smiled at her parents.

"I guess I should go as well." she began to walk away when Edgar spoke.

"Did they speak about it again at the academy? Your brother seems happy..."

Emma nodded. "Yes, he hasn't shut up since..." the king and queen laughed.

"Alright, go study. We'll call you for dinner." Emma said goodbye and ran off. Edgar arched an eye brow. "Was...she holding Camb's books as well?" he asked his wife, kissing her.

---

The next day was a beautiful Saturday morning; the sky was cloudless and it was very breezy. Emma was writing down in her journal of flowers when a knock on the door came. She put the book down and opened her door, smiling at the maid. "Miss Emma, you father and mother want to see you-"

"Me? Alone?" she asked, hopeful. The main nodded.

"Yes, yes. Hurry." Emma slipped her feet into her sandals and ran pass Rosie - the maid - and down the staircase.

---

Emma opened the door to see a empty room. She frowned, calling out her father and mother. "Mom? Dad?" she asked, walking into the room. "Hello?" Cambyses jumped out in front of her and screamed:

"TRICKED YA!" he laughed at her embarrassed face. "Someone," he smiled at her and poked her stomach with his index finger. "wants to be `daddy's little’ girl, don't ya?" Emma turned to leave, but he grabbed her hand. "I'm sorry, just playing. I wanted to speak with you." Emma paused, listening. "Alright, remember when dad said we couldn't drink the Figaroian red wine? Well, he's serving it to us all tonight! And, I'm gonna get to participate in my Antlion hunt to become a full man! Oh, and along with Ben." Emma narrowed her eyes.

"You want to gloat to me about how you get to...get to...huh, forget it!" she started off, clearly angry. Camb shrugged.

"What's wrong with you? You're act like tonight isn't important!" Camb growled. "Ben and I get to become real men soon, Emma! This is big!" Emma stopped and looked down at her feet.

"Yes...maybe only to you." she left the room as Edgar entered. He looked confused.

"Did I miss something, son?" he asked as he reached for the wine in the oak cabinet. Cambyses shrugged, rolling his eyes.

"I think Emma's on her gift again. She's been acting really weird ever since it became January and the Antlion race month." he said to his father asking for a cup. He chuckled.

"Your sister isn't on her gift. She's probably upset because that day women and girls have to...well, serve the men there. Not `have’ to, but its tradition and she's fighting between not doing it and doing it." Edgar stated, locking the wine in a better place. "She's such a angel - worried about everyone and everything else rather than herself."

Camb crossed his arms. "She's no angel dad, she's been acting like she's been on her gift for the last year or so." Edgar growled.

"Your sister is a caring person!" Edgar barked, leaving the room. Cambyses sighed. Maybe...or she's been upset about something.

---

Emma dressed in a light Prussian blue dress and let her hair down; it shimmered like a waterfall of mint green water down her back. Her eyes matched her dress and her rosy cheeks complimented everything nicely. She smiled into a short mirror on the wall and checked her hair one last time. Tonight her father - the king! - was going to announce something important and she had no idea what it was, so she had to be prepared for anything. Besides that, strangers were coming and she had to make a great first impression on them all. Dinner would go according to plan.

Edgar smiled as everyone came into the room, finding their seats. Edgar's family sat along side him. The king cleared his voice. "As you call know, tonight is the night my friends come over - Camb and Ben, you know them - but our little princess doesn't, so make sure she doesn't...accidentally give them something they are allergic to." he laughed with everyone - but Emma stayed silent. She didn't think it was funny, she frowned as he continued. "So, with that said, I'd like to welcome the first family; the Cole family, come on in!" The door opened and a group of four came in. Two women; one with long golden hair and the other with long, wavy brunette hair. There was two males; one with brown hair and the son had sandy colored hair. Edgar smiled, standing. The Figaro family stood as well.

"This is Locke Cole," he patted the man's shoulder. The retired thief laughed. "and this is his lovely wife, Celes. The boy is Jacen and his older sister is Cadence." Locke frowned, itching his head.

"Um...Edgar, did we already meet your kids?"

"Yes, but not all of them. Remember the little 4 year old that ran around? She had green hair?" Locke made a confused face. Celes cut in.

"Emma, Locke! Emma."

"Oh! That cute little thing? Yeah...haven't seen her in a long time..."

"Well," Terra smiled, lifting a hand to point to Emma, the girl in the back. "everyone, this is my daughter, Emma. You never got to see her because every time during the summer, she spends it at the academy in Thamasa. She's only met Relm, Gau and Mog." Terra looked at her daughter. "Emma, this is Locke, Celes, Jacen and Cadence." Emma stood and said hello, dipping her head.

"Sir Locke, Ma'am." she tipped her dress and sat down. Locke laughed, in a good way.

"Well I'll be..." Locke rubbed his chin. "you look just like your mother." Emma blushed. Edgar beamed, chuckling.

"She does, doesn't she! I can't wait to see what Setzer will say!" Terra smiled, gazing over at her daughter. Her face seemed hurt. Terra frowned, but looked away when the door opened again and a man with long silver hair came in. Behind him, was a woman with blond hair and green eyes. Three boys followed, all had blond hair but one, who had short gray hair and purple eyes. Setzer and his wife said hello to Edgar, Terra, Locke, Celes, Cadence, Jacen, Cambyses and Benjamin. The king greeted them politely and turned to Emma.

"Setzer...everyone," he chuckled. "this is my daughter Emma. You met her when she was four or five. She was the one always running around in her Moogle costume-" Emma blushed when the family laughed, especially when one member of the family turned his gaze to her. He had short blond hair and deep purple eyes. He was tall and ruggedly handsome. He had a charming smile, the lazy kind that curled up a little more at one side than the other. He wore all black, with a gold sword to his waist. After all, the world still had enemies. They were natural, so they had to be prepared. Emma began to wonder why her father and mother never wanted her to touch a sword. She broke her gaze from the boy when he chuckled soundlessly and turned to listen to Edgar.

-"Don't you agree Setzer, Maria?"

Setzer nodded, studying Emma. "She certainly does. Except she has your eyes - not the color alone - but...the shape and so on. She also has your cheek bones and Terra's chin and nose...beautiful in all!" He turned to his wife and three sons. "Don't you agree, boys?" they nodded, but the one that watched Emma smiled and voiced it.

"She's very beautiful, father." Setzer corked an eye brow at his son when he heard Edgar move. In interest, Setzer looked over at Emma. Whose face was as red as Terra's old traveling cloths. Her eyes were a little wide, and as Setzer turned to look at everyone else, so were they. Edgar narrowed his eyes.

"Don't get any ideas, Alex." the room was silent.

"Sure thing, king." Edgar sighed, asking everyone to sit down. Slowly, Emma got her legs to work. She sat at the left end of the table. Alex saw and quickly made his way over, sitting to the right of her before his brother Calixto could. Emma frowned when he sighed. "Phew! Seated!" he laughed. Edgar growled and sat down.

"Let us eat! I will talk after, I promise!"

-----

During the whole dinner, Alex discussed why he thought coming to the dinner instead of flying his brand new airship made for four - called `Ultima’ - was a better idea. Emma was polite and listened, reluctantly. He went on about her eyes being `the most beautiful eyes he's ever seen in his life’ and that he would love to see them again, on a date. She didn't like him, but she would act as if she did so her father knew how mature she is, at least more so than her brother Cambyses. Alex stopped talking when it was the parents of the table's turn for serious discussion about certain things. The teenagers and children at the table would have to be silent. Oddly though, Cambyses and Cadence were allowed to talk among the adults, which has never happened before.

"...So maybe we lower the taxes in Jidoor. We could afford the funds to give to North Figaro and Narshe. If we cut the parade amount down, we could really rally in the Gil. Think, if we did, the council would get off your back, father. They would be happy they have their tax money and to look at the new project in North Figaro." Cambyses stated, leaning back as he took a sip of his wine. "It would help Figaro's Gil problems as well. The nobles need to hear `no’ more often." Edgar thought it over.

"What of the southern cities, son? If we higher taxes, they wouldn't be able to pay them on time and we would be forced to `obtain’ them by force."

"That's why we higher the taxes temporally in Tzen and the new city, Jouna."

"Hm.." Edgar rubbed his chin. "That's a good idea, son." Terra smiled, happy.

"I didn't think you had it in you, Camb. I'm very proud."

Alex looked over at Emma when he heard her sigh. She looked upset. He wondered what she was thinking.

I could have thought of something better than that! Emma thought bitterly. If we just lower the taxes in Tzen and Narshe, higher the ones in Jidoor and Nikeah, we could have enough Gil for NS in six months top. Why does he always go after Camb's plans? Why doesn't he listen to me?

"So son, what you want us to do would involve so many nobles getting angry at us? Why would we chartup in that mess?"

"because we could actually pull this all off."

"That's a good point son and I will defiantly listen to it. Which brings me to my next point." everyone looked up. "children, you may speak after I say it." he gave a look at Emma, which showed he thought of her as a child. She gripped her hands under the table. "as we all know, I am aging terribly-" the room sighed, rolling their eyes. "-and I must produce a person from my family to be the heir - to rule Figaro pass me. It was a easy decision, and tonight showed me why." he smiled, rising with his goblet of fine Figaroian wine and held it over the table.

"I picked my heir and it was the best choice, because I know that person will rule with honor and respect. That person..." he looked over at Emma's hopeful eyes and shook his head, changing his gaze over to Camb. "....is my son, Cambyses."

Emma's mouth fell open as Camb stood. "T-Thank you so much, father! I promise I will lead this country in the right direction, no matter what happens, I'll be here for Figaro and the world when it needs help. Thank you sir..." he sat down, stunned.

Edgar smiled. "Good, I'm proud of you my son. You made great points tonight and I'm sure you will lead Figaro right- Emma, where are you going?" Edgar asked, watching his daughter push the chair back to get up. She turned and went for the door. "Emma, I'm talking to you!" she slammed the door shut and Edgar crossed his arms when the room fell silent. He frowned.

"She's....very emotional." Terra shook her head at his excuse and ended the dinner party. She asked Celes if she wanted to help find Emma and cheer her up, but Edgar sighed. "No, let her go; she needs the space."

"I will not!" Terra hissed, grabbing Celes' hand and dragging her along with her through the arched doors. Edgar sat down, taking a gulp of his wine. Setzer laughed when the kids cleared the room, except for him, Edgar, Locke, Cambyses and Alex.

"Women..." the king muttered, taking another sip. Setzer smirked.

"Yeah, ya can't live with em or without em."

"Father? Why was Emma upset?" Cambyses asked. "I thought she would be happy for me?"

"Ah, such a idiot." muttered Alex under his breath. He turned to his father. "Should I clear up the Falcon?" Setzer waved a hand at him and left with his son. Edgar sighed.

"Well, Camb, you are getting to participate in the Antlion hunt and you will become the king of Figaro. Its like a punch to the gut for her."

"Oh..."

------

Emma was delighted when she left the dinner part early last night. She couldn't stand everything that was happening; her father's heir, Alex and Cambyses. Why wasn't she picked? She could rule Figaro better than her clown of a brother! She loved him dearly, but she knew he couldn't handle the hardships of being a king/queen. She wanted to go far away from here, to be free of the `new' king. Emma dressed in a dark black Choli top, which was tied up from the back. It had short sleeves and lace around the ends. It was comfy to her. She put a short - a little bit higher than her knees - swirl skirt on and black sandals. She tied her red and black sash around her waist and pulled her hair up in a pony tail. A long tail of mint-green hair flowed down her back in a wavy line, tied by a red and black ribbon. She smiled and found her flower journal, pen and ink and hurried out of the castle.

The oasis she always went to was beaming with life; the cacti was flowering and the coconut trees were full of life. Lizards and all sorts of desert life scattered across the sand, under rocks and up trees. The large pond of water sparkled under the sun's rays. A large bluff hung over some of the water, creating a shadow. A stump was on the cliff, which is where she usually say while drawing and studying the new flowers of Figaro.

Emma sat and drew the different flowers, even the animals she found. She loved to study life, to help the animals and flowers become healthy. She smiled when she saw a desert fox sniffing its way toward the hand bag of bread and meats she brought with her. She giggled and took a slice of meat out, holding it out. "Here little one...here..." the fox sniffed her hand and took the meat. After eating it, the fix licked her hand and fingers.

Alex stopped when headed up the bluff. A young girl - who was extremely small - was sitting on a stump, laughing at a small desert fox that played with her hand. Alex smiled. It was Emma. And by gods, what she was wearing was tantalizing! But her face and eyes, even her smile! They were the most beautiful he's ever seen. His heart fluttered as he took a step forward, badgering himself for not going. He took a breath and went forward.

"You know," he said, smiling when she turned around, confused. "you are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen before. May I ask something?" he saw her eyes and smirked.

"What are you doing here?" she asked, standing up she put her journal down. The fox scurried away in fright. Alex rubbed his neck, acting nervous.

"I'll ask it anyway: did it hurt when you fell from heaven?" Emma frowned, crossing her arms.

"Did it hurt when I kicked you?

"What? You never kicked-OH!" he growled when she kicked him on the knee. "what the hell!?" Emma laughed at him. Alex grinned as he took her journal. She stopped, frowning at him when he opened it to read. She smacked his chest and arms.

"Give that back! Give it back to me you stupid giant!" he chuckled at her, holding it higher. She only reached a little pass his ribs and he couldn't blame her - She is only four foot eleven! He smiled down at her frustrated face and patted her head.

"Oh? You want this thing?" he read the first page when she yelled for it again. "Corvanar flower: Blooms once a year in totally heat and sand. Only needs water twice every two weeks....Hm, interesting, Emma." her face was bright red. She finally snatched the journal back, holding it against her chest.

"Didn't your parents ever teach you manners!?" she turned her head, insulted. He corked an eye brow up.

"No, no they didn't." he walked up besides her and grinned. "my father did teach me how to kiss girls though!" he leaned down and kissed her cheek. She gasped, pushing him forward toward the pond below them. Alex frowned as he toppled over the edge, he grabbed Emma's wrist and pulled her over. The girl dropped he journal on the ground as she fell, unconsciously wrapping her arms around Alex for protection. Alex popped his head out from under the water and gasped for air. He looked about, "Emma?" he called as he turned his head to see a little hand sinking under the water. He paled and dived under, searching for her body. She was floating and sinking. Alex grabbed her by the hips and dragged her to the surface, where he took her to shore. "Emma!?" he called. "EMMA!?" he opened her mouth slowly and took a deep breath, but when he leaned down, something hit him across the face. He pulled back and gripped his hands.

"Emma! What the hell was that for?" he shouted as he stood up, shaking the water off of him. She frowned, spitting out water.

"Don't...ever...do...that...again!" she said, panting. Alex rolled his eyes.

"Have some fun, Emma!"

"I have fun enough! Why don't you act serious for a moment!"

Alex narrowed his eyes. "You know, during dinner your brother - what was his name? Oh yes, Cambyses - kept whispering that you were a stuck-up brat. Well, I'm starting to believe him. You can't seem to have fun, can you?" he asked, walking pass her. Emma froze. Camb...said that? I...I have fun.

"That's...not true."

"Yeah it is," he paused. "your brother hit your personality right on dot! Face it, Emma, you need to loosen up a bit." Alex left the oasis and Emma, alone. The girl fell to her knees.

"I can have fun...I can..." she whispered to herself, wrapping her arms tight around her chest.

Well...I hope you like the revised and remade first chapter of "Say It Right". I picked a different name for the story as well.

Review please and criticize it nicely. After all, its not criticism if its not critiquing well!

Have a nice day, everyone!
