Scars, Betrayal and Pain
Emma was being driven crazy because her mother sent Celes over to give Emma's hair curls for the dance and do all her makeup. Emma's mother put the dress in a bag so Emma could take it to the ball room's changing room and smiled when she saw Emma's hair and face coming along nicely. Emma just wanted to go to the dance, that's all.
After they were done, Terra smiled, tears in her eyes. "Oh my! You're so beautiful! I bet all the boy's eyes will be on you!" Emma blushed, looking down. That would be the first... Celes agreed.
"You look very beautiful, Emma. You just need to learn how to address it properly...like put make up on." Celes made a icky face and started to put blush on her cheeks. Terra rolled her eyes.
"Emma has enough blush on her cheeks. I don't think she'll ever need makeup for that." Terra muttered. She was right, Emma's cheeks were also red, a very beautiful red. Saying that only made Emma's cheeks flare even more. She didn't know why her mother thought this was so big, Emma wanted to go for two reasons: one being to get Luke to like her and two being she wanted the school and her brothers to like her. She thought if she hung out with the better people, she would be liked.
"Emma, stop moving!" hissed Celes, trying to finish up on her eye make up.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Cole." she whispered, trying her best not to move.
"Its okay, dear..." she muttered, pulling away, she smiled. "I created a real beauty!" she shouted, admiring her own work. Terra agreed wit her friend.
"Oh Emma, you look so charming. Better than the usual grungy grumpy look you usually have on...its a nice change." she smiled, kissing her daughter's cheek. Emma sighed, biting her lower lip.
"Are you done yet? My back hurts now..."
"Yes Emma. Stand up carefully." Celes helped Emma and up and nodded. "You look so beautiful! That boy is lucky to be going with you." They turned Emma to a mirror. "So lucky." Emma did look very pretty, but she frowned. What if being pretty isn't enough...?
"Okay Emma, time to get your dress and head off. We'll be dropping you off." Terra and Celes left Emma alone in her room. She was watching herself in the mirror, sad and lonely. She heard a knock and turned around. Alex was there, smiling brightly.
"You look wonderful...what's the occasion?" he teased, coming over to stand by her. "By gods you really are stunning." he leaned down and smiled at her. "But...why are you so sad?"
Emma frowned, about to cry. "I...I don't know if I'm enough..."
"Don't say that. If they don't like you Emma, then that's their problem! You are a beautiful, caring and cunning woman. I'd love to be the one going with you to that dance...but you haven't passed your rights and can only be with un-passed boys." he frowned when she sniffed. "Please don't cry..."
"I'm not crying!" she hissed. He laughed.
"Ah...you know," he stood up. "You don't need their approval, Emma. You're perfect the way you are." he leaned down and kissed her cheek for seven seconds exactly and then patted her head and left. Emma swallowed the lump in her throat. That's not true. I'm nothing...
---
"Oh, wow....you're my little sister?" asked Cambyses, smiling as he hugged his sister when she came down stairs carrying her dress. Emma flushed, pulling away.
"Yea, its me." she rolled her eyes. "Be careful! You'll ruin my makeup..." she growled. Edgar came up, laughing.
"Ah, my poor Emma!" Edgar cried out, covering his eyes. Everyone turned to him, concerned. "Now all the boys will follow her and I'll have to buy a hoes to spray them off!" Terra and Celes laughed, Cambyses and Benjamin chuckled but Emma found it humiliating.
"Okay, off we go!" Edgar smiled and led his wife and daughter out to the carriage.
---
Now, you remember the terms, right dear?" asked Edgar, hugging Emma. She nodded.
"Yes, dad; be home by eleven thirty." Emma muttered, hugging him and Terra tightly. "Can I go now?"
Edgar sighed, but looked up to see a boy walking their way. "Is that Luke?" he asked, with a little distaste. Emma turned and smiled, waving shyly to him.
"Yes dad, that's him." Emma smiled at him, happy. Terra nodded. She looks happy...for once.
"Sir," said Luke, bowing deeply. "I'm Luke Duaens."
"You better take care of my daughter, Luke." Edgar growled, shaking hands with the boy. Emma avoided their eyes, too embarrassed to say or do anything.
"Oh, I will sir." he smiled, weirdly. "she'll be so safe, she'll come back in better shape than before, promise."
"Alright then, have fun you two." Terra muttered, hugging Emma and then kissing her cheeks. "Be safe princess and make sure you have fun, okay?" Edgar agreed and said goodbye, walking away, sighing.
"Ah...I can't believe we just let her go..."
"Don't worry, Edgar, we'll see her later." Terra laughed, getting into the carriage with Edgar.
---
Emma headed to the changing room and frowned when she opened the door to see Vivian and the mean girls from school, watching her. Vivian and Mary didn't look so angry, matter of fact, they looked pleased that Emma came in. She frowned and tried to hurry to a stall, but Vivian stopped her, smiling.
"Hey...Emma, right?"
"Yes." she whispered, her voice cracking.
"Would you like to join us? We're leaving to this awesome party down in the woods just south of here. Its about a twenty minute walk."
What? Why are they asking me that? "Um...I'm-I'm here with Luke..."
"He's the one who thought of it. Wanna go? Its going to be a lot better than here. You can stay out longer with him too." she corked her eyes at Emma, waiting. "You gotta hurry, or the teachers will get suspicious."
Emma smiled. "O-okay. Sure. W-what do I do with my dress?"
"Leave it, you can afford it. But..." she turned the water on and took a rag to wipe away all Emma's makeup and then took her hair out of the bun and then ruffled it up. "There! Party perfect." Emma smiled.
I knew if I came they'd like me better!
"Thank you, Vivian..."
"Alright, Luke and the others should be waiting. Let's go. Out the window, come on." Vivian crawled out of the window as well as Mary. Emma hurried after them.
---
The forest was as creepy as Emma thought; everything was damp, moldy and noisy. The leaves were old and dead on the floor, dead trees hung over her and the pitch black sky watched her go deep into the forest. She could see Luke, his brother and another boy standing near each other, carrying a torch in each hand. Vivian smiled and hurried over.
"You guys finally made it." Luke laughed, glaring at Vivian. "Took you long enough." he went over to Emma and smiled, pinching her cheeks. She flushed, about to giggle. She was so embarrassed! "Come on Emma, we're going to the Haunted Chair Man's house."
"What? Isn't that place...well, haunted?" she asked worried. "Vivian said there was a party...I don't want to got to a horror house."
"There is a party. Justin and Jakeson will be there too, they are the most popular at school, Emma." Luke frowned, taking her hand. "Don't worry, I won't let anything happen to you." Emma smiled, thanking him. She didn't see the death stare from Vivian.
---
Emma frowned when she didn't see lights on in the house as they came closer. Huh? Luke opened the door to the dark, gloomy house that smelled like mold. "Go on in, the party is down stairs." Emma hesitated, but went inside, looking about. She was so scared, she stepped back and against Luke's chest. "Its okay, nothing is going to hurt you. Come on," he took her hand and dragged her further into the house, Vivian, Mary, his brother Erik and Kyler included.
Luke stopped but told Emma to go further into what was obviously the living room. She paused when she heard Vivian speaking. "I can't believe she believed us." Emma paused and turned around.
"What?" she muttered, watching Vivian and Mary close the door. She gasped, stepping back. "What are you doing! Let me out now! I don't want to stay here!" Luke laughed.
"You honestly thought there was a party? Or-or that I'd actually want to go with you to the dance? Seriously? You're stupid, really stupid." Emma growled. She had been humiliated again....and tricked.
"L-let me out right now, Luke!"
He sighed, rolling his eyes as he told Vivian to explain what was happening to Emma. "Emma, you know how we played so many tricks on you before? How we've filled your bags with dead fish? Well...we thought it would be nice to do it one last time."
Last? Emma's heart started to beat faster than normal when Luke stepped up, smirking sadistically. "Come here and we'll show you." Emma screamed when he charged at her, but he quickly shut her up by covering her mouth and throwing her to the floor. "Shut up or I swear to god I'll kill you." he growled against her ear. Emma stayed silent, her face pale. Luke - his hand still over her mouth - looked over at Vivian.
"Honey," Emma's eyes went wide. Why? "when will the guards pull around?"
"Um, around four or five am, I believe. Should we go now?" she asked, eying Emma with hate. "Mary and I will make sure the tracks are gone. Have fun you guys." she muttered, laughing as she left with Mary. Erik, Luke and Kyler were left there with Emma. Emma was terrified. She didn't want to take the chance and scream, Luke might kill her but she also didn't want to just sit there and let whatever it is that is going to happen happen. Kyler frowned, rubbing his neck.
"Let's hurry this along, Luke. I have things to do tomorrow. I can't spend all night following your orders."
"Alright, alright." he muttered, nodding his head to Erik. "Alright Emma," he looked down at her face. "I will let my hand of your face if you promise not to scream, understand?" she nodded after a few seconds and waited for him to remove his hand. She started him in the eyes for a few seconds and then screamed as loud as she could. Luke growled and jumped down on her, covering her mouth.
"Now see, why did you have to go and do that?" he demanded, slapping her across the face. "If you do it one more time, I'll cut your tongue out! You hear me!? I swear I will!" she swallowed, nodding again. Why was this happening to her?
"Alright, Kyler, you first." Luke got off Emma and walked away, letting Kyler go near her. Emma panicked and got up to run. She sprinted away, nearly falling because she was frightened. Kyler shouted. Luke and Erik chased after her with Kyler, screaming at Emma. Luke growled when he saw Emma trying to open the front door. It was locked, so Emma hurried up the old, moldy stairs. Luke and the boys followed. As he ran up the stairs, he picked a big piece of wood up and hurled it at Emma's head. It hit directly and caused her to fall to her knees, holding her head and crying. It made her bleed. Luke jumped on her and bashed her face into the floor.
"Damn it! I told you not to do anything!" he snapped, grabbing her hair he dragged her into one of the rooms. "Next time you try that, you won't live long enough to see what I'll do to you!" he growled as he pointed to her shaking body. "Go on Kyler, you first."
Kyler walked up to Emma and smiled. "I've always wanted to see how a Princess handled." he started to take his pants off. Emma panicked again and started to crawl away.
"L-luke! Please...please let me leave. Please." he slapped Kyler's hands away. "Stay away from me!" she knew what they were planning on doing and feared it badly. She gripped a circle object on the ground and lunched it at Kyler's face. He ducked and laughed and covered Emma's mouth as he spoke to Luke and Erik.
"Look, if they find out about this, you gotta swear you won't rat me out, 'cause I wouldn't to you." Kyler growled to them. He turned to Emma and started to take her shirt off. She started to thrash around, trying to get him off of her. Kyler became impatient and asked if Luke could help him out. Emma tried to stick her thumb in Kyler's eyes but Luke came over and held Emma's hands down, but she slide her hands free and slapped Kyler as hard as she could. Luke snapped and punched Emma's right eye, she shouted against his hands, making mumbling sounds. He could tell she was begging him to stop. He smiled.
"Come on Kyler! I don't have all day!" Erik hissed, crossing his arms as he paced the room. Emma turned her head so Luke's hand could fall into her mouth. She bit it and made him scream in agony. He punched her again.
"You damn bitch! Ah, good Kyler. Hurry this up, you're so slow." Kyler finally took Emma's pants off and slid her panties off. Emma was still screaming against Luke's hands, trying to get her legs out from underneath Kyler. Luke grabbed her arms and slammed them back down on the floor and told Erik to hold down her legs. Emma felt her eyes swell over with tears when she saw Kyler sit on her. She didn't want this...how would she explain this to her parents? Brothers? Wait, what was she thinking? They probably didn't even care about her, she wouldn't be surprised if they said it was her fault, especially if it came out of her father's mouth. She started to cry when she felt Kyler's warm fingers near her thighs. That's why he allowed me to go...he knew this would happen. Emma screamed into Luke's hand when Kyler started up, taking her virginity. Why did he do this to me? He's my father...I can't believe he'd allow someone to do this...then again, he never really loved me. Kyler pushed in again, harder. Emma's tears began to come out faster as she thought of her father arranging this to happen. After a few more minutes, Kyler got up and sighed as he buttoned his pants.
"Not as good as I thought. I'm out of here before the guards show up." Kyler muttered as he popped his shoes on and gave Emma's shaking body one last stare, and then he ran down stairs. Luke whispered in Emma's ear while he held her mouth shut.
"If you promise not to scream, I will take my hand away. If you do, I will make his worse on you." he pulled his hand away and wiped some of the tears off of her face. She was shaking for many reasons. It was very cold and she had nothing on, second: the cuts and bruises that bled made her even colder. It felt as if wind passed through her whole body and chilled her completely. Her black eyes was swollen over and bleeding, her chest felt tight and full of water and her heart ached the most it ever has. She weakly rolled her head over and watched Luke talk with Erik, he kept pointing to Emma and nodding. Erik looked frustrated, but he went over to Emma and swallowed as he leaned over Emma. He whispered.
"I'm sorry...." and then took his pants off.
----
"Father?" Cambyses entered the king's room. "its seven pm."
"And?" he asked, finishing up a paper while his wife was asleep on the bed.
"Well...wasn't Emma suppose to be home?" he asked, frowning. Edgar looked up at his son and then at the clock.
"She...isn't in her room?" it was only seven pm.
"No, father. I checked."
"Did you hear from the teachers?" he asked, getting up.
"Yes, the teacher said she left shortly ago. But I figured-"
"She'll be back, son. Go meet up with Cadence. Your sister is having fun." Cambyses nodded and left the room.
----
Emma could barely breath when woke up again. She was hoping it was all a dream, but when she heard voices, she looked over and saw Erik leaning against a wall talking to his brother, Luke. How sick. They were waiting for her to wake up before continuing. Luke gazed over and smiled as he walked to her side. He looked at her face and pushed some hair out of the way. "Good morning. Nice to see you joined us again, Emma."
She coughed and tried to move her hands, but she was too tired. "I hope you didn't mind, but..." he laughed. "we decided we needed to leave earlier, so we're already done here." He stood, grinning down at her. "I've had my fun. Erik?" he nudged his head at his brother and started off toward the window. "Take care of her and meet me at the circle." and then he turned to the stairs and left.
Erik sighed and said he was sorry again and curled his fist, saying sorry again when he punched her in the face. She cried, trying to cover her face when the next punch came and then the next. Before everything blacked out, he started to kick her ribs and hip, as he kept on saying sorry over and over again, terrified and afraid at the same time. Just before she felt the coldest she's ever have or felt the worse kind of pain, she watched as Erik came back over with a rag to tie around her eyes. He started to drag her to someplace. Her eyes started to close as her mind raced.
Daddy......
----
Terra was brewing tea in the kitchen, humming to herself. She heard rapid footsteps but paid no attention to it. It was a bright morning; children were out side playing in the gardens, enjoying themselves. She smiled as she poured the tea into her mug. The kichen doors slammed open.
"Queen Terra! You...your daughter! She's...she's been hurt!" Terra dropped her mug of hot tea.
---
Edgar was so scared. He was writing in his room in the ship k nown as "Ice Gaze" when a soldier ran in and started to scream that his daughter had been found in a abandoned house in the woods and was beaten badly and that other things had happened. The soldier told him that Terra was with Emma in her room so Edgar ran to the ship master and told him what happened, his heart hurting.
Finally Edgar made it home.
He slammed the door open and gasped when he saw his daughter lying helplessly on her bed. Her face was beaten badly, her right eye completely swollen over and her left just starting to. Her lips were kiss swollen and looked like they had been bit. Her nose looked broken, blood was dripping out of her nose down her chin. She was pale and shivering, her hands shaking violently. Wrapping was tied around her ribs and chest. Her fingers were cut up and dirty, as if she tried to grab dirt os some other dirty object. Her hair was covered in dust, blood and looked like someone had run their hands through it. Edgar growled when he thought of it. He stepped forward when he saw Terra wipe some of the blood away from her nose. The queen's eyes were red and swollen.
Terra....Edgar thought sadly as he came closer, his heart numb as his eyes ran over Emma's broken body. Her skin was red around her neck and upper arms. Her arms were bruised. Edgar could hear her trying to breath and gripped his hands. Why...why did this happen to you...?
"She..." Terra whispered, getting her husband's attention. "she was in so much pain...The doctors said that she was bleeding internally."
"Will...will she be okay?" he asked. Terra shook her head, dazed by everything that has happened.
"That doctors said they had to push a rib bone out from some important body parts. They did surgery on her earlier. " Edgar was in South Figaro when he heard about it, about forty five feet off the docks heading to Narshe for some important meetings. It took him a hour to get back to South Figaro and four more to even get a ride. It was a festival there and most Chocobos and carriages were gone. Once he finally got a ride, it took him a while to get home. "She has a few more surgeries to go through..." she muttered.
"Where are the boys? Do they know?"
"Ben knows. Cambyses went on a date with Cadence this morning and hasn't come back yet...they went to Kohlingen."
"They said she was at a abandoned house?"
"Yes." Terra sighed, getting up to dip the rag in warm water. She pulled the blanket off of Emma and started to dab her chest. Edgar's eyes went wide when he saw his daughter's chest. He quickly moved his eyes away not only because her body was...demented, she was naked. "she needs to stay warm, the doctors said so." she added for Edgar's benefit.
"What did Ben do?"
"He went to his room. He doesn't want to see her."
Crap. Edgar sighed. "I'll go and talk with him...tell when she wakes-"
"Edgar," he paused. "she was raped."
Edgar nearly fell over. He turned, slowly. "What?"
Terra swallowed as she covered her daughter up again and kissed her forehead as tenderly as she could and sat down on her chair, taking Emma's cold hand in hers. "she was raped." Terra started to cry. "and left there to die!" she hid her face in her hands and sobbed. Edgar's world started to fall down before him, crumbling to the ground. Edgar turned and left the room, his mind racing, his heart hurting. He wanted to kill every man or boy his eyes fell on. His face became red, his hands tightened into balls, he started to heave in anger as he searched for someone to take his anger out on. He headed to his study and slammed the door shut and stared at the book shelves until he fell to the ground. Why...
"DAMN YOU!" he screamed, hiding his face.
----
"Hey Ben," said Cambyses when he got home the next morning. Ben was standing in the gardens, his eyes watching a lizard crawl across the sand. "What's up?"
"Where were you?" he asked bitterly, his eyes flaring with disappointment and rage. Camb frowned. "we needed you...Emma needed you."
"What are you talking about, Ben?" Camb asked.
"While you were gone....someone took Emma to the abandoned house in the woods. They beat her and raped her."
Cambyses' mouth fell open. What? "Ben...this isn't funny-"
"She was!" he screamed at his bother. "if you had just gone with her like mother and father asked you then this wouldn't have happened!" he shouted. Cambyses remembered the discussion he had with his parents before they left. They were in the dinning room, talking.
"Please son, I don't want her to be there alone. What if she wants to leave earlier? Who would she go with?" Edgar asked, watching his oldest child pace the room. They were waiting for Emma. Terra came down the stairs before her daughter and met up with them.
"Father, I'm meeting up with Cadence tonight. Its our first date..."
"Camb, you sister might need you." Terra muttered, making a worried face.
"Why should I sacrifice something for myself for Emma?" he snapped, his eyes sent in a wild rage. Edgar, Terra and Ben were stunned. "I've always been helping her! She can take care of herself!"
"If...if that's how you feel, son..." Edgar and Terra left with Ben.
Cambyses was lost. He didn't know what to say. Ben was right, it was his fault his sister had been hurt. "Who did it?"
"Dad thinks it was Mural or Olmpa. He talked with the teachers, they said she left by herself and that Luke stayed behind with his brother and friends." Ben sighed when Cambyses left.
---
When Cambyses saw his baby sister lying in here bed, beaten half to dead, he asked where his father was. His mother told him that Edgar left after finding out Emma had been raped and hasn't come back since. Cambyses asked his mother if she could go and get him to come back because Emma might want to talk with him when she wakes. Terra agreed and left after making sure Emma was okay, she also told him to dag her with warm water every ten minutes or so.
Cambyses sat by his sister and took her cold hand, trying to give her his strength and warmth. He laid his head against her hands and closed his eyes. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you Emma....I just proved to everyone that I'm not good enough to rule a kingdom, I couldn't even protect my baby sister... "I'm...so sorry."
Emma's eyes fluttered open softly, only enough to see haze and fuzziness. She heard her brother's voice and swallowed. "Camb..." he looked up at his sister and smiled at her face.
"Hey, Em...you know, you gave me and the family a scare!"
"Where...am I?" she asked, her voice cracking.
"Home, Emma. You're home now." he saw tears rolling down her face and got up. "Emma, please....you're safe now, I promise." he lightly hugged her. "I know you are in pain, Emma...but you have to stay strong, for me and mom, even Benny." she cried against his chest.
"Ev-everything hurts...."
"I'll get the doctor, he'll-"
"My heart...can he fix it...?" she whispered, coughing. Cambyses paused to stare at his sister's lost face. How can I make this better for her? She's been hurt more than she heal from. God damn it...where are you father? I need your help...Emma needs your help.
"Emma..." he turned away from her. "I have to go now."
"No!" she coughed, blood dripped from her mouth. Her throat sounded so dry and scratchy. "P-please...don't leave me..."
Cambyses felt a unbelievable amount of guilt for what happened. He couldn't just stay there and stare at her, hear what she has to say knowing that if he went with her, she would be fine. But how could he stay there with her? When she was in so much pain because of him? He couldn't take and he wouldn't. "I..I have to go." he hurried out of the room. Emma felt around to see if anyone else was there and started to cry.
I'm alone...again....
---
"Father! Mother!" Cambyses ran into the study to see his mother talking with his father. It looked like she was cheering him up. He frowned. "Emma....is awake..." he was out of breath. Edgar's eyes went wide, he looked at his wife.
"Come on Edgar...we have to see her and talk with her, she's probably so scared."
Edgar sighed and followed his wife.
They entered the room and saw Emma looking up toward the roof. They could tell she was trying to breath better through her nose and hurt throat. Terra ran to her daughter's side and took her hand, it startled Emma. "Oh Emma! Are you okay? Do you feel any pain? Should I get a doctor?"
Emma sneezed. "M-mom?" she whispered. Terra nodded and kissed her daughter's forehead. The girl thrashed about, trying to get away from her mother. "please don't hurt me! Please!"
Terra gasped at her terrified daughter and swallowed. "E-Emma, its me, your mom sweety." she gently laid her hand on Emma's to calm her. It worked. Emma started to cry.
"Mom...mom, why did this hap-happen...?" Terra looked over at Edgar, he nodded and left.
"I don't know, Emma...but please, you need your rest. I'll get the doctor-"
"No, please don't leave me alone." Emma begged. "I don't want them to come back here." she sobbed. Terra soothed her daughter.
"You're not at that house anymore Emma, you're home. With me, shh...please stop crying, sweety, please." Terra sighed and sat down. "I won't leave, I'll stay right here. Shh now, Emma." Emma's eyes closed as her tiny fingers wrapped around Terra's hand. She gripped her mother's hand.
"I...love you...mommy..." Terra frowned, but smiled after she took in her daughter's last sentence before falling asleep, her hand holding her mother's for hope and love. Terra kissed her daughter's hand. Mommy. She hasn't called me that in years...
----
Three Days Later...
"Edgar, she still hasn't recovered yet! You can't just go in and ask her all those questions, especially when you haven't even visited her once!" Terra shouted at her husband as he collected papers and pictures of Olmpa and Mural. Edgar paused.
"I'm trying to find out who did this, Terra! I have no time to sit around and-"
"No time?! She's your daughter! She's just been found raped and all you care about is getting revenge!?" Terra gripped her hands. "How dare you! Can't you put your damn pride down for goddamn moment and help our daughter!? She's been asking where you are and I have to keep lying to her! She'll be able to see and probably move around soon! I won't be able to keep this up!"
"Then don't! Tell her the damn truth!" Edgar stormed out of the room, angry.
---
Emma was a little shocked when she could open her eyes again to see her body the way it was. She knew she would look a lot different from the pain she felt when Luke and Erik were beating her. She wanted to throw up her insides when she saw her chest, neck and face. Her body was still very sore and was very much in pain, a great deal, but she tried to sit up for the first time since her rape. She still didn't tell anyone who did it, she was too terrified they would be angry and do it again and she didn't want to speak about it yet. She would tell them though...soon.
Someone knocked at the door and then came in. It was Cadence. That startled Emma. "C-Cadence? What are you...never mind, I know..."
Cadence frowned. "I'm so sorry for what happened to you Emma. I know it hurts, but-"
"You know?" Emma asked, confused. "It happened to you as well?"
"No." Emma frowned. I thought so. "But, I can tell by looking at you, it hurts more than anything else." Cadence came to sit by her side. "I wanted to ask you if...if you know who did this to you?"
"Why do you want to know that?"
"Because...I think he should pay for it-"
"Why do you care?" she asked, looking away. "No one cares. They only care that it wasn't done when they were looking."
Cadence gasped. "You think everyone wanted this to happen to you?"
"That's what I heard them say..." she looked down at her hands and felt her eyes burning. "I heard them say it..."
Them? It was more than one? Oh my, poor Emma. "Emma...there was more than one guy? Can you name them?"
"No." she whispered. "I don't want to talk about it."
"Don't? You don't or you want to hide it? Which is it, Emma?" she asked, standing up. "If you are protecting them, then it won't work. I already know it was a group now."
Emma growled. "Keep out of this!" she shouted, her chest rising and falling. Her face was red and her hands were clutching the blankets. "Don't you dare tell anyone!" Cadence shook her head at Emma.
"Or what, Emma? Why don't you want to tell anyone? You give me one good reason and I might not tell..."
"My..." Emma started to cry. "my father set it up..."
Cadence paused, stunned. "What? He would never do such a thing-"
"I heard them say it themselves! That's why he hasn't come to see me yet...he probably knows I know..." Emma put her hands over her eyes. "I...I didn't think he hated me this much." Cadence shook her head.
"I don't believe it...he can't be! Emma, your father loves you and I'll prove it!" she ran off before Emma could tell her to wait.
---
"She thinks my father did it?" Cambyses asked, a little creeped out. "My dad loves Emma, that can't be true."
"She said she heard them say it. I doubt it, but...she seems convinced and your father not showing up to see her made it even worse on her. Its only convinced her even more." Cadence shrugged. "I don't think Edgar would do that, not even to his worse enemy."
"So...maybe who ever 'they' are, lied and knew she was listening?"
"That's highly possible." Cadence frowned, and then snapped her fingers. "I came in before she was awake. I heard her crying in her sleep about a boy tricking her."
"Tricking her, huh?" he rubbed his chin as he sat down on the benches in the gardens. "Hm..." Cambyses frowned. Luke.... "It...it was Luke!" he jumped up. "I have to tell father-"
"Cambyses, your sister is scared. You should ask her if that's him first..."
"Yea, you're right..."
---
The next day...
Emma sipped at her hot coco and sighed as she watched the window again for the pass five days. The birds and butterflies kept flaunting their freedom in front of her. It only made her angry. She sighed and put her cup down to eat at her chicken soup. The medicine they mixed with her lunch made it really nasty. She took a few more bites before putting it down. Huh...I wonder what everyone else is doing right now.
Someone came in. It was her brother. It was the first time he's visited since he left that night. "Camb?"
"Emma....I need to ask you something." great...him too. She thought dryly, already looking away toward the wall to ignore him.
"I know that Luke is the one who did this." he decided to act like he already knew to make sure. "He confessed this morning." Emma looked back at Cambyses.
"He...did?" Emma was confused.
"Aha! He did do it! I knew it!" he gripped his hands. Emma gasped.
"You tricked me?" Emma asked, growling. "Get out of here! I don't want to see you! GET OUT!" She threw her bowl of soup at him. Cambyses frowned.
"I don't get why you didn't just tell us..." he left the room, closing the door behind him loudly.
----
"And...you're sure about this, son?" Edgar asked, following his son down the gardens to the streets of Figaro.
"I'm sure. I...well, I got Emma to admit it a little bit. She didn't want to tell us."
"Why?" he asked, confused. "Wouldn't she want her revenge?"
Should he tell him what she thought? "I don't know father. She seems scared about it all..." ah, lying...good work, Camb! He yelled at himself. Edgar sighed.
"At least we know now. Everything will be better. And here I thought it was Olmpa when it was that damn boy Luke! I knew there was a goddamn reason I felt the way I did!" he swore again. "I should have grounded her instead of awarding her for crying about it..." Edgar muttered as they walked up to the door of a old looking house. Edgar knocked three times and waited. A young boy answered and tried to shut the door, but Cambyses held it open. Edgar grabbed him by the neck and held him up against the door.
"Tell me where Luke is or I swear to god you will die right here!" Edgar shouted in the young boy's face. Cambyses recognized him as Kyler.
Well? I'm trying to get enough of the rape into the next chapter or so, to really cover how Emma felt. I'm also trying to squeeze in Alex so show how Emma and Alex came to be. Hopefully I can pull this off and people will have read my chapters.
I beseech you all, please review kindly :D
